Last week while I was driving my car the airbag light came on. I was so worried for my safety to drive my car. I went online to search if my car had a airbag recall and it did. I made an appointment with the Toyota dealership to do the repair. While I was waiting there they told me that my car had another problem, I was supposed to replace the spiral cable (code b1811). If I didn't replace that the airbag light was still going to be there and the airbag wasn't going to work if I replace them . The horn on my car hasn't been working for so many years and I didn't know that was connected with the spiral cable assembly. I paid $510. 22 to replace that. I'm the only owner for that car. Toyota company should have a recall for the spiral cable because it is connected to the airbag and we as a customer should not pay for replacement. My car had 11 recalls so far. Other Toyota's have recalls for the same problem but not with 2005 year old Toyotas.
On February 4, 2020, I took my Toyota Corolla to jim norton Toyota of okc, 8401 NW expressway, oklahoma city, ok 73162, (405) 721-1911, for a safety recall. They did work on my car. They said that they did replace the air bag, but it would not work if I was in an accident. The air bag light is on, indicating that the wire related to it needed to be replaced. They said the cost of doing the wire replacement is not covered by the recall. It would cost about $700. 00 to have the wire replaced. It seems that the wire replacement should have been done with the original bag replacement since it won't work without it. Am I required to pay the $700. 00 to get the airbag in proper working order? the recall notice says that the remedy for the safety recall will be performed free of charge to me.

Takata recall - I took my car to make the labor because the takata recall and few month later the light of the air bag in the front panel is on (red). Then I take my other car (the same model and year except for the color) and happen the same thing. Today both cars have the airbag light on. No body have found why, but it was after the labor because of the recall of the airbags. I dont remember right now the specific date.

Airbag light keeps stay on when driving, regardless of where to drive. Having the vehicle checked at Toyota dealer in concord, CA. They found spiral cable, located on or at steering column, defective. And if left unfixed, according to my understanding, the airbag on driver side potentially unexpected deployed or wont deploy at all at time of accident. This is a scary safety concern to me, costly but it need to be fixed as soon as possible. Hope Toyota will cover or share the cost with me, ~$500 at estimate.
The light for the air bags reads off and there's a red light on my dash stays on indicating the air bags. There is no passenger or anything heavy in the passenger seat. This just started thurs. Oct. 22, 2025. Normally when the light goes on there is noise that goes off until I remove the heavy item from the passenger seat. This is scary. This happened around 5:15 in the evening after I started my vehicle after it had been parked @ 3 hours. I noticed the air bags light was off and the red light on. I had pulled out from the curb and I thought a door was open. So I stopped to check and it was not.
After five phone calls I finally got an appointment for the recall. My car sat with the hood up from 11:00am to 3:00pm for me to be told they can't get the airbag light off. I was told I need to purchase an airbag cable for $485. 99 + tax.
Takata recall for my air bag. The air bag light keeps coming on then it will go off again after several weeks. The light come on when you start the car. After everyone has put on their seat belts, the light remains on, on the dashboard. Below I have some pictures.

The vehicle was bought brand new for no apparent reason, the air bag light came on. [the onboard computer was recalled and changed out by the dealer several years ago, if relevant] [the cigarette lighter socket never worked from day 1, but I don't smoke so it did not matter] otherwise, very happy with the performance of this vehicle.
My 19 year old was driving back to college, the car in front of her stopped short to avoid another crash, she reared ended the car at 47 miles an hour. None of the air bags deployed. She was unconscious for 20 minutes, suffered a concussion. I contacted Toyota they said the air bag was not recalled, asked to conduct a data analysis: stating she swerved to the right and that the dtc light was on and that we "had ample time to have taken the vehicle to a repair shop to have the problem addressed" . We had the car inspected a few days prior to this accident and there was no indication of any lights on the dash. I believe Toyota is wrong in accusing us on the problem. I believe they are covering up their problem. My daughter is a college athlete and is unable to participate due to this issue, she is still suffering and to have Toyota state this was our problem is wrong. We bought this car for her because we believe it was safe. You don't let your children drive a bike without a helmet and your don't let your college age students drive a car with air bag lights indicating that they need service.
I do not know, but when I started the car the airbag light stay on.
The airbag light comes on out of nowhere and for no reason. Stayed on ever since. I did nothing and no accident what so ever. Took the vehicle to Toyota grapevine texas and they told me that the spiral cable went wrong. Had it tested by another mechanic and found it no problem at all. Toyota has recalled Corolla for every model between 2000 to 2008 but 2005 Corolla on the airbag issue. And based on my experience and what I have researched online, I think a recall for the airbag issue of 2005 Corolla is due.

I was driving to work and on my way I heard this "click click" sound coming from the driver side dashboard. I didn't know what it was so and didn't see anything. Roughly about three or four more days go by and the annoying clicking started again and then one of the icon on the dashboard lights up. I opened the glove box to get out the manual. The manual had shown that it was the airbag light. I figured since I was due for a oil change at the dealership that would ask them about that light. On August 2, 2013 I went to the dealership to get the oil change. They told me that the lighted icon was about the airbag and said that it needed to be replaced. I asked "how come I need to replace a airbag that I haven't been used yet?" they said that spiral cable had a failure and that it needed to be replaced before I got a inspection sticker or else my car will fail the inspection. I asked the man if it was part of a recall because it didn't sound right to me that a airbag will need replacing even if it hasn't been used. They said no. So I made a apppintment for August 24, 2013. I paid $380. 00 for the repair of a spiral cable. I wasn't happy at all. So now July 20, 2015 I get a recall notice about replacing the airbag and which I paid $380. 00 for back in 2013. My first question how do or who do I get my refund for replacing a defected airbag? can you please direct me to the proper place to make a claim because I think that it's unfair for me to loose out on $380. I am very upset because I work very hard to save money. Thank you for your time.
. . To whom it may concern. A relative of mine received a recall letter on my behalf from Toyota for my vehicle. My relative said he sent it to me by mail. I contacted Toyota really concerned because out of nowhere my air bag light came on, my cruise control stopped working and horn. I have had a recall before which was serviced in August of 2011. I decided to contact Toyota about the letter and if it was okay to take in car without letter. They ran my VIN# and stated that the recall for my car has been serviced. I asked why I received a letter of recall and why out of nowhere my car is starting to have some malfunctions that can be a risk to my life. I no longer feel safe in this vehicle. The rep at Toyota said to go in to service center-but I do not have the money to pay out of pocket. I need help and would like this resolved for the safety of my family and my vehicle.
2005 Toyota Corolla VIN # [xxx] had air bag light go on 10/2009. Brought to a1 Toyota new haven CT and told there was a front passenger side problem. Waited over 2 months for new air bag harness (car not drivable) and harness replaced (3400 dollars). Air bag light went back on 11/2010 and brought back to same dealer 12/2010. Clockspring in steering wheel replaced and tension tightened on front passenger side air bag wiring at cost of 530 dollars. Air bag light went off after this repair but went back on again a week after last repair made. A1 Toyota notified. Had notified customer service at national level (they were not interested) and notified regional Toyota office (they referred me back to dealer. . . ) so a huge safety issue and car definitely not safe to drive. . . Would appreciate you looking into this issue. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
: the contact stated the air bag light illuminated as soon as the driver seat belt was buckled. Then, while driving 25 mph, the vehicle collided with the side of a dump truck and neither frontal air bag deployed. However the left side impact airbags deployed. The vehicle was considered a total loss as a result of the crash and was towed to a salvage yard. The contact was wearing a seat belt at that time of the crash. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was also notified. Updated 09/19/06.
