1 Car Slowed Down On Its Own problem of the 2013 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 10/20/2012

Speed control disengages and decelerates rapidly without warning on highway upgrades at approximately 65 mph. This model is a manual 5 speed. When the dealer was contacted, their service manager responded that they had received several similar complaints on this model, but that Toyota had not provided any updated program to correct the problem at this time. The deceleration is not a slowing based on weight, but a total disengagement of the control, which is likely to result in a rear-end collision from behind should any vehicle, regardless of size, be following at even a recommended distance. This has happened in this vehicle on 4 occasions, and from what the dealership acknowledged is a chronic problem, inherent to the 2013 Toyota Corolla and other models that share the same program.
