Just purchased a 2010 Toyota Corolla s on July 23, 2010. The steering did not seem right. At one week I went back to the dealer and they gave it an alignment, which did not really improve the steering. It is horrible on the highway and my arms hurt from trying to keep it in the lane. Thought it was just me until I started to investigate, and found out all of the other complaints about the same problem. It make you feel like you do not have control of the car. It swerves from side to side. Tired putting more air in the tires, does not help. I have not even made my first payment yet. I have called corporate offices, and am awaiting a response from them. We need to start a class action suit.

I leased my vehicle the end of may 2008. The tires on the vehicle were factory installed. I have had the tires rotated at least every 5,000 miles. At the last rotation appointment, the mechanic stated the tires barely passed nys inspection, as they had only 2/32" of tread left. At that time the tires had approximately 18,400 miles on them. Since the rotation, I can hear a thumping-type sound while driving any speed. The Toyota dealership where I lease the car from states they will have to check with Toyota, but if I didn't have the rotations (maintenance) performed at a Toyota dealership, I may have to purchase new tires. The general manager recently stated in writing that the tires on my vehicle only have a life expectancy of 20,000, which incidentally was not represented at time of lease or in the lease contract which allows for 36,000 miles in 36 months. This is the first time I have leased from Toyota, but my family and I have leased many other model vehicles and have never had problems with tires, let alone run them bald in 18,400 miles! a different Toyota salesperson stated to me that she has heard of many people running into this problem with the firestone affinity touring tires installed on Toyota leased vehicles. I have 7 months left on my lease. I'd also like to add that I am a single mother to 3 small children that I drive everyday in this car, and I work full time, so I do not have the time to get the run around from the dealership. Winter is upon us in buffalo, NY and with these tires on the car, I am bound to have an accident, blow-out or other possibly life threatening incident in the next few months. The reason I lease is because I drive low miles and do not have the time or money to make continuous repairs to a vehicle. I do not have the ability to wait for Toyota to "decide" if they will replace the tires, especially considering this seems like a factory defect.

On, March 7, 2010 around 6:30pm, going on the highway, without any warning. The 2009 Toyota Corolla model le, went totally out of control. I was on the far right lane, heading from toa baja to mayaguez on pr-22. Reaching arecibo, by highway mark (km 74. 2) the car steering went totally to the left and in fractions of seconds my car invaded the left lane doing a 180 degree turn, had cars coming my way and just when I tough the other car was going to hit me. The steering on the car went completely the opposite direction and the car rolled again and I was going over the green area crazy fast. No control, spinning again over the grass area on the middle of the highway, heading right into the opposite side of the highway, cars coming at 65 mph or more. Then the car hit a street sign that changed the car trajectory and then came to a stop on the green area on the middle of the highway. The car ended all covered on grass, mud and impacted by the street sign that possibly prevented my car from invading the lanes on the opposite direction on the highway after the Toyota Corolla steered violently and uncontrollable seconds before. I have to say, this was an extreme situation that for who knows reason, all happened in a split second without warning and all the violent extreme movements happened without my car impacting other cars on the highway, but clearly I was very lucky. At the moment of the incident, a passenger was with me in the car and then can confirm has witness of the extreme car experience we endured.
I had purchased a "certified" pre owned Toyota 2009 Corolla xrs which was sold with a faulty gas pedal which I noticed after diving the vehicle for a week. The dealer confirmed it was faulty and had it serviced. Much to my shock, after filing a complaint about the steering, I learned that the problem was not associated with the steering wheel but the fact that the car was sold with bald tires. The service technician did not realize it the car was sold the month before and was just as shocked and embarrassed by the matter. Toyota had no regard for life knowing that I was driving the defective vehicle in treacherous, snow blizzard conditions. I asked to have the car reinspected and recertified. I was told I would receive a phone call when they would have a rental car available during the reinspection. Apparently, there is no sense of urgency as I have yet to receive a call.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Corolla which was purchased brand new. The vehicle has goodyear integrity tires, 195/65/r15, which were the original tires. She stated that whenever she would travel on wet road conditions the vehicle would slide and the brakes would not respond. On one occasion, while exiting a highway ramp at speeds of less than 15 mph during inclement weather, the vehicle began to slide around the exit ramp. She attempted to control the vehicle, to no avail. She then proceeded to do a complete 360 degree turn and crashed into a concrete wall. There were no injuries. There was moderate damage on the front-end of the vehicle and she was able to drive the vehicle from the scene to the dealer. She was awaiting a damage estimate from the dealer. No repairs were made to date. The failure and current mileages were under 23,000. Updated 4/7/2010

I have 2009 Toyota Corolla. Over speed 60 miles I feel steering problem. Its hard to stay in the middle of a lane, car goes both left and right at high speeds. In addition if the road is slippery, I need to handle steering very carefully. I don't think my car is safe.
This about a tire called riken raptor's. I now have had this happen twice where the top part of the tire comes off the side walls, it happened in August as well. The tires were perfectly fine as far as air goes as I maintain my car. But for a 2nd one to have happened to me tells me there is a problem and I would hope someone would look into this. I found a thread via goggle that had many of the exact same issue on these tires. Michilen is the mfg of them and they just tell people its a case of to little air. How would they know 1st of all and I do know it was inflated correctly. I tried calling the retailer but got no where so trying here so as no one else gets hurt from these tires. I was lucky only a fender liner and minor body damage after it blew of at 65mph.

I have a 2005 Toyota Corolla and it has toyo brand tires on it. The tires have 7/32" tread depth which is 70% of the new 10/32" tire tread depth. While driving from south austin to san antonio (70 miles) the tread and belts separated from the carcass of the tire with bare metal wires showing where there once was tread. The tire still had air in it but the tread was peeled off and the tread pieces began to strike against the undercarriage of the fender destroying the inner fender liner, damaging the vehicle fender, breaking out the headlamp and fog light from behind and ripping out the hood release cable. The vehicle was traveling at the speed limit and the tires where properly inflated at the time of the defect. I called the manufacturer and they offered to take 25% off of a new set of tires. I took it to the tire dealer that they recommended and the man said the tires were 4 years old and should be replaced, these are the same age as the car and the car doesn't need to be replaced. I have photos and estimates for the repairs.

2009 Toyota Corolla with 9000 miles purchased new. Had routine oil change and tires rotated may 2009. Inspector advised that all 4 firestone tires showed only 4/32 tread depth and all should be replaced soon. Notified Toyota online and they declined any adjustment. They indicated that neither Toyota nor firestone guaranteed the tire would last for any months at all with respect to oem tires on new cars. I returned to Toyota dealer in elmira NY---kent brown--and service manager called Toyota hq via phone. Somebody approved replacement of all 4 tires at no cost to me. Tires were replaced by dealer kent brown and they also performed an alignment check which dealer said was fine. I also talked to firestone dealer prior to kent brown adjustment and that dealer advised me that their tire was probably the wrong tire for that year and make of Toyota. I had the feeling that if kent brown would not have replaced the 4 tires that firestone might have done something for me. Cost unknown!!!?? this is my 2nd new Toyota from same dealer. I find it strange that Toyota hq denied me but somebody approved the replacement. I doubt the dealer would have replaced the dealers if Toyota hq also denied the dealer. Yokohoma tires were installed on my car and seem to be fine.
We bought a 2009 Toyota Corolla in oct of 2008. Noticed the touchy steering, but was told that was normal by the Toyota dealership. My daughter was driving it on a side street in huntington, wv when she hit a pot hole or a manhole traveling at about 15 to 20 mph. The steering locked up and she hit a parked car. It broke the abs wiring harness and caused $10,994. 79 damage to car. We then found out that the tires were bald at 15,000 miles and the brakes were very thin. Toyota had just service the car at 13,000 miles and did not tell me the tires or the brakes were bad. We do not know exactly what caused the steering to lock up. The repair shop could not tell us either due to the extensive damage.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Corolla. The vehicle has bridgestone tires. When the contact turned the steering column to the right, the front and rear driver's side tires spontaneously blew out. The vehicle crashed, but there were no injuries. The cause of the failure is currently being investigated. The contact has pictures of the failed incident. The dot number, tire line, and tire size were unknown. The failure and current mileages were 9,000.
I had four 2 year old goodyear integrity tires on my Toyota Corolla 09. They have never had what has felt like proper tread/traction in rain let alone snow. I ended up hydroplaining and hit a tree, and now my caris a potential total. They have only normal wear and tear when my cra had a 15k mile checkup, but they have not held in the rain before and I have fishtailed while going straight on all sorts of wet pavement, and even didn't feel like they held so well on dry roads. Now I have a ruined car from a rainy day while driving forward, trying to steer away from excess water forming, but I was far from in full water, only the two right side tires, when I tried to move I immediately began to hydroplane and crashed. I have never been more scared and horrified. I want to know if these tires which came with my cra which was bought new, have had a previous history of problem as I've never seen them on other models of Toyotas of the same year, make and model, an 07 ce Corolla. I could have lost my life due to their failure to have adequate traction as they are all weather. If anyone could let me know if this is an issue, or other complaints have been filed I need to know.
The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Corolla. The driver stated that with all of the existing recalls he would like to give his vehicle back to the dealer. The contact also stated that the vehicle has malfunctioned since he purchased it. The rubber was separating from the window and he had problems with the tires when the vehicle had over 20,000 miles. The contact was uncomfortable whenever he drove the vehicle and he no longer wants the hassle. The failure mileage was 33,678.
2009 Toyota Corolla s. Special ordered and purchased in 2008. We returned the vehicle to the dealership quickly after purchase complaining about the straight-line driveablity of the car. The problem was more noticeable on the interstate. The car has to be constantly corrected left and right just to be kept straight on a straight stretch of road. My wife and I both are scared of this car. I just feel like I'm going to lose control of this car at a high rate of speed. It's worse when there's a cross wind on the interstate. It happens everytime we drive this car. We work on opposite shifts at the same place, in the next county. So she drives it back and forth the first half of the day and I do the same the second half of the day. It's almost all on the interstate. It's very stressful getting this car down the road. So, the dealership said they compared it to another Corolla on their lot and they drove the same. They fixed nothing. Gave no explanation as to why it would drive like it did. So we feel helpless and we have no other choice but to keep driving it and paying for it. My wife drives our kids in this Corolla and it worries me everytime that she's going to crash it. I just don't know what to do about this since the dealership says that nothing is wrong with it. It's currently got a little over 21k miles on it and it still drives like it did when we bought it.
Watched 20/20 may 9th 2008 about how to check for production date on tires. Checked date on tires may 10th 2008. Date is removed or buffed off of two front tires!
the circle where the numbers are supposed to be is still on the tire but the date has been removed. Two front tires were bought April 22nd 2008. (I still have the receipt).

Was driving down an decline in the road and was applying the brake gently due to stop light at the oncoming intersection, which I saw that was red, but it changed to green and I reapplied the gas at this time. Then , I heard a great loud noise and this thing was in my face, and I could not see . I knew that I needed to get the car off the road, but I was fighting the airbag to see the road and to prevent me from hitting a car in front, I used my right hand to fight the airbag and my left to steer the car. At this point I was thinking I had passed the intersection which had a small area for flowers or signs, had a 4-6 curb, but when I turned the wheel toward the right to get off the road I ran upon the median( across the curb which was 4-6 inches in height, and this damaged the tire rims . They were bend and damaged the tires , all four went flat. I still managed to get the car to safety without any real injury to myself. I am still in daze with this freak occurrence. I have never experience d anything like this. I would like to hear from others. , but mainly I would like to know what caused this. The car had been hit in the rear approximately 6 months prior, in which the whole trunk area and back had to be replaced. Could this have been a factor? I really need answers. Keep it mind, I have driven this road for 40 years without an accident. I can't understand this with a new car and new tires.
I would like to make a formal complaint about my 2007 Toyota Corolla. I purchased my car in January 2007. I'm having problems with my vehicle. The is a vibration I feel coming from the steering wheel. My car stopped on the li expressway due to 2 sensors that no longer worked. There is a shaking in my tires & every time I turn my car on there is a loud noise coming from the engine.
The contact owns a 1999 Toyota Corolla. The vehicle has cooper tires, size p175/65/r14. While driving 60 mph, the contact suddenly heard a noise coming from the rear passenger side of the vehicle. She exited the highway and noticed that the rear passenger side tire was completely flat and destroyed. The tires had been on the vehicle for less than a year. The contact returned to the place where the tires were bought and the tires were replaced with the same brand. Within a year, the failure recurred. She believed that the performance of the tires was unacceptable and that a recall should be issued. The dot number was unknown. The failure mileage was 61,000 and current mileage was 64,000. The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Corolla. The vehicle has goodyear integrity, size 175/70r13 tires. The inside and outside of the tires were warped. The contact noticed this by first looking at the front tire, which indicated that they were wearing out. The tires were checked, rotated, and balanced. Three months later, the front tires wore out. She took the tires to three different places and they all stated that the tires had a manufacturer defect. Goodyear stated that she could receive new tires for $39. 48 per tire, which did not include the necessary services to replace the tire. She did not accept the offer because the tires were defective. The current and failure mileages were 27,000. Updated 01-13-08. Updated 01/15/08.
: the contact stated while driving on normal road conditions the tire wall became totally detroyed presenting slashes three inches long in the side walls. The tire was beyond repair. The same incident occurred one year prior.
The next day I drove the 2006 Toyota Corolla down the street and the steering wheel shook extremely badly. I took the car back to precision Toyota and asked them if it was out of alignment. The mechanics explained the Toyota Corolla vehicles cannot be aligned and to go on my merry way. I then continued driving the Toyota Corolla and made several visits to brake masters and goodyear tire in phoenix az trying to figure out why the steering wheel shook so badly. Brake masters and goodyear tire failed to diagnose the problem with the vehicle. Once the vehicle accrued 10,000 miles the tires were bald! I took the vehicle back to precision Toyota and I got the run around. The service manager told me that this is what happens when a person never rotates their tires. The tires were rotated at least 4 times during this time period at goodyear tires located in phoenix az. I then replaced all 4 tires with a new set. During this time period the steering wheel continued to shake. I then replaced all 4 tires on the vehicle once again. I then went back to precision Toyota for help. The service manager at precision Toyota told me to never return to the dealership or he would call the police and have me escorted off the lot. I drove away from the dealership very calmly. I remember this day very clearly. I then went home and filed a formal complaint with the better business bureau in tucson az against precision Toyota for failing to fix my vehicle. Precision Toyota responded to the better business bureau that I had tried to run over a sales associate in the dealerships parking lot and that is why they refuse to fix my car. The 2006 Toyota Corolla was extremely hard to drive and keep on the highway with the extreme steering problem. The contact stated while sitting idle with the brakes depressed, the vehicle abnormally accelerated resulting in a crash. There were no injuries. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer but was not examined for the cause of failure. Repairs were made to the body damage only. The failure continued to recur intermittently and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer approximately three times where an unknown service was performed on the throttle. The failure did not recur since the throttle repair. In addition, the contact stated that the tires were wearing prematurely. The dealer confirmed that the tires exhibited premature wear. The tires were replaced and the failure did not recur. The contact also stated there was an unusual increase in braking distance and in order to stop the vehicle, he would have to apply steady, repeated pressure on the brakes before they would engage. The failure mileage was 200 and the current mileage was 34,000.
I have Toyota Corolla 2003. Fletcher jones Toyota replaced all tires on December 11, 2004 and installed new goodyear tires on this car. On may 17, 2005 I drove this car on highway at speed approximately 55 miles/hours and suddenly losted control. I reduced speed, but could not control car and it pulled off the road and stopped. The left rear tire became flat. I contacted goodyear (claim #766745). In accordance with gooodyear, nothing wrong with tire. It just losted seal. They refused to replace tire. Goodyear authorized repair facility dixieland (776 south blaff street, st. George, ut 84770) resealed tire. Tire size is 185-65-r15 and it is not in your list.
