Air Bag Not Deploy Problems of Toyota Prius - part 2

I was impacted directly from the side, while in motion on a city street heading straight. I slightly swerved to the right. The other driver ran a stop sign from a cross street. The impact was hard enough to total the vehicle, and to bounce my head against the driver's side window, push me into a curb on the opposite side and cross traffic. The damage was at the majority toward the rear door, but impacted the center of the car and driver door enough where it was pushed an 1-inch and the driver door could not be opened. Firefighters at the scene were concerned that the curtain airbags did not deploy. I am also concerned. I would like to know if this is a defect that could involve other cars and other people in an accident.

I'm concerned because my vehicle's airbags did not deploy during a crash wherein I collided with a car turning left in front of me at approximately 35-40 mph. The front end crumpled and my driver and passenger doors do not fully open due to the damage to the frame of the car. The car is currently being inspected with regard to determination of a likely total loss. While I understand airbags don't always deploy, I felt that this might be a case where they should have deployed.

On February 11, 2010, the consumers wife was approaching a small business in a parking lot. She was almost at a dead stop, when the vehicle suddenly went a rapid acceleration mode, jumped a curbed and sidewalk, and hit a brick wall of a business building.
