1 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2013 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 06/21/2017

I bought a used 2013 Toyota certified Prius in 2016,after using for a few months the car stalled at the middle of the road. I have it towed at bob smith Toyota for repairs. The repair indicated a replacement of inverter. The cost of repair is around $2,000. The car is ok now and running, but it's no guarantee the the same problem will happen again. I don't feel safe driving the car,at present I brought my car at the dealership again for another issue, the radio, navigation backup camera doesn't work,.

2 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2016 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 09/15/2016

I recently purchased my 3rd Toyota in August (2016 Prius). I upgraded my 2011 Prius because I really needed built in navigation due the nature of my job and my commute. I am currently experiencing issues with the radio/navigation system, which is very frustrating because this is a "brand new" car. The navigation system and radio turn off and on continuously during the most dangerous and inconvenient times (I. E. When I am navigating though unfamiliar wooded areas in the dark when it's raining). This also causes one of my instrument panels to go blank. I have had to stop using the navigation system altogether at times, which again is the reason that I upgraded my car in the first place. This began happening intermittently in September, and the problem has gotten progressively worse over time. I took off of work to have the issue diagnosed and repaired by the dealership in November and to have the parking cable recall issue taken care of. I was informed by the dealer that they did not have the parts in to address the recall issue and the technician immediately noticed the issue with the radio/navigation system but was unable to correct the issue because the update that "might" fix it is not available yet. This is very dangerous and this issue needs to be addressed before someone gets hurt.

3 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2012 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 07/17/2015

The navigation, bluetooth & radio system was turned off on it own and became corrupted when the car dealership tried to update the systems software. The hardware was then rendered inoperable and the systems computer was then replaced, the warranty did not cover the defects in the system. The estimated repair exceeded $1000us. Due to the dealerships actions in trying to run a software update, the repair costs were paid by the dealership. The failure of the computer system seemed to be known by the car dealer. Toyota was never directly contacted by car owner as only the car dealer handled the repair issues.

5 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2010 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 05/14/2013

My back-up camera went dark & stopped working in the center console. This rendered the entire console inoperable; navigation, radio, bluetooth, etc. I went to the Toyota dealer, & called Toyota. I was told this happens with jbl equipment, & it is not covered under warranty. My vehicle only has 43,252 miles on it. They told me that I could pay $2500 for a refurbished camera/console. This does not seem to be fair to the consumer. I do not like driving around without the back-up camera--a safety feature, & this is a known problem to Toyota & their dealers. Toyota should extend the warranty on this center console on this model.
