1 Equipment problem of the 2024 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 03/18/2026

I was driving my 2024 Toyota Prius and was involved in a front-end collision. The impact was strong enough to cause significant front-end damage, but the front airbag did not deploy. I was wearing my seatbelt at the time. This is a serious safety concern because the airbag should have deployed in this type of frontal impact. If the crash had been worse, I could have been seriously injured. I believe this may be a safety defect in the airbag system.

2 Equipment problem of the 2024 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 02/27/2026

There has been no incident, however the concern what happens with regards if someone is not completely understanding of when the battery is completely discharged…. Per instructions(difficult to find, terrible diagram, not even as described)we were finally able to unlock and open our rear hatch. However you must have a screw driver in order to open a panel to get to the latch which is supposed to be able to open easily. Upon opening, there is another screw which must be loosened, and a very tiny unmarked leaver which can not be seen as it is not marked nor easily seen. In the manual as well as when I actually went to the dealership I was told that there should be a brightly colored in either bright green or red pull that will open the latch. Our concern is for the individual who needs to open this hatch, is older and not as limber. Toyota needs to do better with their instructions. Who drives around with a screw driver in a Prius? when I went to the dealership to ask how to get into my vehicle the gentleman had to go speak to someone and I was given misinformation as the manual and the service individuals directions were completely different.

5 Equipment problem of the 2026 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 01/28/2026

The recall (number 26v049) is a serious safety concern, however the dealer states there is no remedy available despite a clearly described available remedy ("Toyota dealers will modify the left and right rear door switch circuits free of charge, to prevent the switch from activating even if it is shorted. ").

7 Equipment problem of the 2013 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 01/13/2026

I was driving and notice abs light and other light came on, then noticed that when I tried to brake it felt weak, had to pump brake, then later noticed a leak on brake fluid. I took car to Toyota and they checked it and said brake booster and booster pump needed replacing and they wanted to charge me 3,000 dollars. I could not do the job so I checked around and the auto one in my area informed me that many Toyota Prius’s had a recall on that issue. I made an appointment with parks Toyota in deland, florida to fix problem but when he got there they told me that my car was not on recall for that but was for battery ev fuse but couldn’t do because my engine light was off. I am having such a difficult time with this car. I cannot risk my life and that of others driving with this brake condition if I can’t have the manufacturer or who ever has to to take care of this issue. So far I was able to get a mechanic to do some adjustments so I can drive. I am being very careful and only use it as needed. I stopped looking for a part-time job because I need this fixed first. I am [xxx] , please tell me if I am able to get this recall show for me. Thanks information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

8 Equipment problem of the 2014 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 01/05/2026

On Jan 5, 2026 I was driving locally at about 40-45 mph. All of a sudden 3 indicator lights came on abs, brake, and brake system warning light. There were no noises, but the brakes felt different. They did stop when needed. I left space between myself and others just in case, did not want an accident. Called my regular mechanic. They advised to not drive the car, but to bring it into the shop at 8am the following day. On Jan 6th, the mechanic stated it was beyond their expertise. It was towed to the local Toyota dealer for repairs. It ended up being the brake booster and pump. Upon investigation online, we saw this was a recall, but we were not notified by Toyota.

9 Equipment problem of the 2025 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 11/01/2025

Design of rear window, side mirrors and large rear pillar greatly reduce the visibility and checking of blind spot if you are a taller person. Blind spot electronic detection can not be trusted as it's performance is intermittent. Solution would be for Toyota of retrofit electronic mirror feature like installed in the limited version of this car. This feature has live rear view camera enabled on the rearview mirror at all times. Prius without this feature is very dangerous to drive.

10 Equipment problem of the 2026 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 10/10/2025

I was driving at a slow speed in a parking lot on October 10, 2025 at 4:20 p. M. When the car suddenly stopped. When I looked down I saw that it was in neutral. I had not done anything to the gear shift and there was nothing in the area that could have shifted the car from drive to neutral. The car is brand new - this happened at approximately 400 miles odometer.

11 Equipment problem of the 2024 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 10/04/2025

Toyota has a popup ad appear on their infotainment screen every time the car cranks. This does not allow me to use the map and other apps in the carplay system. I have on occasion driven the wrong route and got lost in traffic and confusing me as to turns and whatnot. I need to be able to use the maps for guidance purposes to safely get to my destination.

12 Equipment problem of the 2013 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 09/21/2025

My 2013 Toyota Prius has a failed inverter/converter assembly, including the intelligent power module (ipm). This component is critical for vehicle operation and designed to last the life of the car. Premature ipm shorting and inverter failure is a known defect acknowledged by Toyota through multiple recalls and service campaigns for other vins with the same part number. My vehicle is giving codes p0a94 and p0a1a which are also listed in the recalls for other Prius models of similar age. My vehicle experiences the same failure, yet Toyota has denied goodwill coverage, claiming “insufficient service history. ” routine maintenance like oil changes and brake inspections does not affect this component, making the denial unreasonable. There is nothing to service on the inverter. This defect poses a serious safety risk, sudden inverter failure caused total loss of power while driving and loss of power steering, it was difficult to pull my car off the road. This poses a danger to drivers, passengers, and others on the road. Toyota’s exclusion of my VIN from coverage leaves me financially responsible for a known safety defect. I request NHTSA to investigate Toyota’s handling of inverter/ipm failures, the denial of goodwill assistance for affected vins, and ensure that Toyota addresses this life-threatening defect consistently across all affected vehicles instead of narrowing the scope on who gets coverage when this is a dangerous electrical malfunction.

13 Equipment problem of the 2013 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 09/18/2025

The Toyota brake booster system failed and is no longer safe to be on the road. The car will no longer brake properly and is a danger to anyone else on the road. It was inspected by Toyota prior. The entire dashboard warning lights for the brake system lit up 2 years ago and has fully failed now.

14 Equipment problem of the 2020 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 09/12/2025

I turned left into a parking space in my 2020 Prius. I stepped on the brake, and my car shot forward. I couldn't stop it, and it hit a concrete pole. It only took 1 second. It seems Toyota hybrids are still having this unintentional acceleration despite a multi billion dollar law suit in the early 2010's. My car was towed and is awaiting inspection by my insurance company. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

15 Equipment problem of the 2011 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 08/18/2025

Toyota issued a customer support program zjb for extended coverage of the brake booster and actuator assembly (this notice was not sent to the correct address the car was registered to with the dmv in 2019 so I never received the notice for this program) the Toyota program length was for 10 years or 150k miles. My car’s part just failed at 129k which is far below the 150k threshold. Despite being outside the 10 year window I am still under the mileage, the car is in perfect condition and this car is used for work for uber. The malfunction of the Toyota part in my car is a critical safety issue and because it is outside of the program Toyota refused to provide any goodwill assistance.

17 Equipment problem of the 2015 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 08/07/2025

The brake booster pump and abs actuator is beginning to fail recently. I took it to the Toyota dealership to use customer support program zjb to replace the parts, but they said my vehicle was not covered. They then quoted me $3000 to fix the issue. The brake booster pump and abs actuator contribute to safety while driving, so why is this not recalled? we need an official recall to happen and not a simple customer support program.

18 Equipment problem of the 2022 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 08/06/2025

My 2022 Prius le hood latch does not work. It does not click and hood stays locked. They told me at walmart that the hood latch is probably corroded somewhere or defective. It takes two people to open the hood. My vehicle has 54,490mi. This has happened twice now in 2 months. I have not purchased an extended warranty and this is something that should not be happening until over 100,000 miles. I've had this happen on another vehicle that was a Honda but that was because it had a lot of mileage on it. This is just a poorly manufactured defective part that Toyota decided to go cheap on and not make sure it functions past 50,000 mi. I contacted Toyota customer experience and they said that my warranty was expired and they will not be covering it. I told them that they need to make an exception because if I need to change my oil I need access to the engine. I should not be having to deal with this at such a young age of a vehicle.

19 Equipment problem of the 2010 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 08/05/2025

Have multiple warning lamps that light up on and off and the brakes in my car get spongy making the braking unsafe. The lights that turn on are the steering/ traction , brake, and abs light. There are multiple complaints online on youtube from similar issues ongoing and no recall made. My mechanic says it indicates a leak however there is no brake fluid missing and on youtube there’s work arounds because people keep getting the same message, yet no recall has been made. This can affect steering and cause an accident. Please recall soon. Including youtube link so you can see all the comments and issues from thousands that don’t know how to report but view to fix temporarily. I was the victim of an accident on [xxx]. The person of the other vehicle that collided with my vehicle after crossing at high speed and without stopping in the red light. The sensors of the anti-collision vehicle of my vehicle did not work and the air bag also did not work. Due to speed the airbag of the other vehicle triggered. I have shoulder pain due to impact. At the moment the insurer of the party involved is making it difficult to pay the compensation. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

22 Equipment problem of the 2019 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 07/03/2025

Coolant system failed because coolant was leaking into catalytic converter. Two mechanics in two different states (one a Toyota dealer) claimed this is defect with 2019 Prius and results in repair costing more than $2000. 00 because of this design flaw. Warning light did not come on until coolant was gone.

23 Equipment problem of the 2010 Toyota Prius

Brake booster that was a recall that Toyota said expired in 2020 when I bought the vehicle and the Toyotal dealer didnt inform me of the recall to fix it said everything was fine when it was not, I had a DC inverter sensor brake booster issues and now it ills off my 12volt battery every time I put one in lasts about 1 mth, upset dealer never told me this wjhen took in tel me any recalls or probelms, they said none, they lied to me. Unexpire the recall on my brake booster and my DC inverter and sensors probelms killing off my new batteries all the time. Call me right away or email me about this, its a urgent matter life or death situation with this car, since the brakes are failing and I have to drive it every day and Toyota mfg or dealer wont fix cause says expired recalls cant fix it.

24 Equipment problem of the 2013 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 06/27/2025

Pulled out of the driveway drove about a 100 ft heard large clunking sound front end dropped down as if there was a flat tire pulled off the highway drove through the grass 100 ft back to my home the car started smoking from the engine compartment and burst into flames. Tried to extinguish with fire extinguishers and water hose while calling 911. Fire department extinguished the fire. Car is a complete loss. There was an oil leak trail from where the car first drop down through the grass. The car did not have a previous oil leak. The car had 300,000 miles on it. No one was injured.

25 Equipment problem of the 2014 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 06/15/2025

We were driving on a city street about 25-30mph and the car jerked suddenly and the lights on the dashboard illuminated and the "check hybrid system" message came up as well. The car was able to coast to a nearby parking lot. We attempted to drive the car home and the car stalled in the middle of the street. We were able to push the car off the road and then get it towed. The presented a potentially very dangerous situation as the car had a complete failure while driving in the middle of the road. The Toyota service department ran a diagnosis which returned dtc p0a94. All of this indicates that the car should be covered under the customer confidence program 23te03 however that program seems to only cover the 2010-2015 Prius and 2011-2017 Prius v models and not the Prius c. There are several reports of this same issue happening on the Prius c as well though so it doesn't make sense that it is not covered.

26 Equipment problem of the 2012 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 06/12/2025

While pulling out of a parallel parking spot going slightly uphill, I braked as I looked around the back of a double parked truck. I saw a car coming, braked hard, and suddenly my car surged forward across the street and hit a parked car. I looked down and saw that my foot was squarely on the brake pedal pressing down as hard as I could. The parked car was unoccupied, and I was uninjured. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem. I turned my car into the dealer for repairs and a fix to the sudden unexpected acceleration. They could offer no fix until a Toyota representative examined the car. On August 14, by an emailed letter, Toyota claimed it found no defects and it must be the result of driver error, specifically, my mistakenly hitting the accelerator. This is gaslighting denialism. (a) the edr data sent to me does not indicate that I hit the accelerator unless that data is in the page of hexadecimal numbers. (b) Toyota's claim that I hit the breaks at "-0. 2 seconds prior to the collision" is physically impossible. No one can move their foot from the accelerator to the brake that fast. (c) Toyota's claim is contrary to what I experienced and observed.

27 Equipment problem of the 2013 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 06/11/2025

My 2013, Toyota Prius recently suffered a sudden hybrid system failure with dtc space p0a0f and a check hybrid system warning. This matches the symptoms described in nhts a safety recall 20v369000. Your recall look up tool shows my VIN is not included. However, I have never received this recall repair, and my failure is identical to the documented safety issue. I am requesting help in getting Toyota to complete a goodwill repair or warranty extension review as this is clearly a safety related inverter failure for which Toyota has acknowledged responsibility and similar vehicles.

28 Equipment problem of the 2014 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 06/10/2025

Cruise control not working. Traction control light active, brake light active, and light active the cause was diagnosed by Toyota of paris. TSB for c1391 code abnormal leak in accumulator. The corrective action is to replace brake booster assembly with master cylinder and brake booster pump assembly.

29 Equipment problem of the 2012 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 06/09/2025

Ca no problem.

30 Equipment problem of the 2013 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 05/27/2025

My electronic brake booster failed at just under 215000 miles, causing a brake line to snap. I now have to get the car towed 40 miles at my expense for a costly replacement of this major component, which Toyota already conceded was faulty by virtue of extending the warranty to 2023.

31 Equipment problem of the 2014 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 05/21/2025

While driving my 2014 Prius v it stalled. I turned it off and restarted it. The yellow car symbol with an exclamation point lit up. I turned the car on and off again. The light went away and I was able to drive home. I was unable to get any obd 2 codes on my personal reader. I changed the 12 v battery and thought this had fixed the stalling. Then it stalled again and repeated the same process. Though we were able to drove the car I had it towed to a dealership for safety reasons. The dealership pulled codes, cleared them, drove the car 20 miles, and were unable to reproduce the codes. I was told to return when the codes returned. It stalled again and now I am afraid to drive this car.

32 Equipment problem of the 2014 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 04/29/2025

My 2014 Toyota Prius c experienced a complete hybrid inverter failure. The part number of the inverter is the same as the one covered under Toyota’s inverter recalls (such as recall j0v), yet my VIN is not included. The failure created a serious safety concern, as the vehicle lost power while in motion. Toyota’s recall appears to be too limited in scope and may need to be expanded to cover Prius c models that share the same faulty part. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue, as it appears to involve the same hardware defect acknowledged in other Prius models.

33 Equipment problem of the 2013 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 04/18/2025

Hybrid system fail safe. I was driving on the highway and the car started to slow down on its own. There were no warning signs. I was able to pull over in time. I turn my car off and when I try to start it, it stalled. I couldn't drive off. Three hours later hybrid system fail error appeared, stating for me to pull over. I could have gotten in an accident.

34 Equipment problem of the 2011 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 04/15/2025

Our trac abs and brake lights came on and braking became more difficult but not totally gone. I took it to my mechanic (not Toyota dealer) and he said the codes were going off for the abs hydraulic system and it would be $3000 to fix! this is unacceptable. I feel like my safety is affected but no one else has been hurt yet. I’m trying to be proactive. They first appeared last month. No manufacturer, insurance agent or cop has inspected it. It can be inspected by appt. Please help.

35 Equipment problem of the 2010 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 04/14/2025

While driving through the mountains, the abs, brake, and slippery (traction control) warning lights all suddenly illuminated on the dashboard. This happened without any noticeable trigger, and the warning lights remained on for the duration of the drive. I'm concerned about potential issues with the braking or stability systems and request a diagnostic check to ensure everything is functioning properly. Also I am aware that there was recall on Prius 2010 related to abs system. My VIN was not included in that but seems like similar issue.
