Brake Pedal And Linkage Problems of Toyota RAV4

2012 Toyota rav 4. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle sudden acceleration. The consumer stated on six occasions, the vehicle accelerated, when the brake was applied. The brake pedal was about 2 1/2 inches away from the accelerator pedal. The consumer believed the pedals were designed too close together.

Letter to the administrator from re brake pedal on his 2008 rg4 Toyota the consumer stated shortly after purchasing the vehicle, he noticed the brake pedal was extremely close to the accelerator pedal. Also the braking did not become effective, until the brake pedal was pressed down to about the same level as the accelerator pedal. The dealer informed the consumer they could not adjust the distance between the two pedals.

The contact owns a 2011 Toyota Rav4. While the vehicle was parked the contact depressed the brake pedal while turning the ignition on and then moved the gear shift from park to reverse. The engine rpms suddenly began to increase and indicated a high reading. The contact looked down at the floor mat and noticed the floor mat was not in the way of the accelerator pedal; however, the accelerator dropped to the floor board. The contact shut the vehicle off and the vehicle shook violently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technicians were unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 3,200.
