Front Seat Belt Buckle Assembly Problems of Toyota RAV4

The contact owns a 2021 Toyota Rav4. The contact stated that while attempting to latch the seat belt, the buckle failed to latch securely, after which the contact observed that the seat belt buckle assembly was jammed. The seat belt warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the seat belt buckle assembly was stuck in the locked position and was unable to be released. The contact was informed that the seat belt assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 58,000.

The contact owns a 2015 Toyota Rav4. The contact stated that after turning off the vehicle, the driver's side front seat belt buckle was stuck and failed to release immediately. The contact had to continuously push the seat belt button to release the seat belt. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 94,000.

Both of the front seat belt connections have stopped latching into and locking the seat belt. I had the drivers side replaced about a year ago, it was still under warrenty. Now the passenger side is not working. Is there a problem with the connections if so why and what is needed to be done.

While traveling at approximately 50 mph another vehicle crossed into consumer's path which resulted in front end of consumer's vehicle colliding with other vehicle. Passenger's seat belt failed to remain locked into buckle, which allowed restraint belt to come loose. Passenger was thrown against rear view mirror as a result of restraint belt releasing. Consumer was involved in a side impact collision, traveling about 45 mph. The shoulder belt failed to hold the occupant, forcing the driver's side occupant into the passenger's side seat, also the belt failed to lock up, and the belts became very loose, the seat belt were fully extended, causing injuries to the driver.
