Navigational (global Positioning System) Gps Problems of Toyota RAV4

Car play, gps, voice control system. Car play and gps is always off, sending wrong directions to get to a place. Voice control system interacts without being started by driver. I have been to the dealership where I bought the car; they know and acknowledge there is something wrong but they said there is no resolution at the moment.

1) connectivity for hands free electronics usage, including but not limited to cellular communication and/or gps. Vehicle and devices are available for inspection. 2) routine disconnection by the vehicle causes inability to safely use directions from gps and/or handsfree communication as mandated by state laws. The disconnection frequently, but not exclusively, happens while using the gps function in unfamiliar and/or unknown areas. 3) the problem has not been reproduced, but has been confirmed by the dealership. The dealership has additionally confirmed that the manufacturer knows this is an issue but no fix is on the horizon. 4) the vehicle has only been inspected by the dealership. 5) there are no warnings before happens. It may reset itself after turning the car off and on, it may continue connecting and disconnecting, or it will go days without being able to stay connected.

Unauthorized gps tracker installed by Toyota employee and attached to the undercarriage of the vehicle. I am unable to use any gps system when connected to the multimedia function via apple carplay. The location of the car on the maps is inaccurate. I could be a few feet to a few miles off. I called Toyota brand engagement to report this. Initially I asked if they could give me a complimentary subscription to their "direct connect" as suggested by the Toyota service center at my dealership. Ihad hopes that this might improve the location services. This was denied. I have taken it to the dealership 3 times in an effort to resolve this. I was told that they have seen this a few times and have replaced the radios in some cars previously with some success. At the last service visit Toyota was contacted by the service center and they were told to not replace any more radios and case #240705001763 was initiated by the Toyota brand engagement center concerning my car. No fix has been supplied yet nor have I received any communication about this. On Friday August 9, I spoke to "resolution specialist" who said she would escalate this as a safety issue. I have not received any communication since (except the post call survey). This is a safety concern as it renders all gps wayfinding apps inaccurate( waze, google maps, apple maps. This is a huge problem if you are relying on these. I paid almost $50,000 for this car and I expect the gps to work.

The radio screen in this vehicle keeps going black. When it is connected to carplay, the gps will randomly shut off. At times, the radio steering wheel controls and the volume knob on the radio will not adjust the volume creating a safety hazard as I not able to lower or turn off the volume. Freeway Toyota in hanford California did a software update about a year ago in relation to the same issue but the issue persists.

When using an apple iphone 12 connected to the vehicle's head unit with carplay, and when using any navigation application (apple maps, waze, google maps), the car's gps position on the map randomly becomes extremely inaccurate. The car's map cursor suddenly jumps to a different road than the one the vehicle is on, heads in the wrong direction, or circles wildly. If using the gps application for directions, the directions suddenly become incorrect. The issue never occurs when the iphone is not connected to the vehicle's carplay display. This is a safety issue because it is extremely distracting or dangerous if the driver is using the gps application for navigation and is directed to the wrong road or becomes lost in an unknown area due to failure of the navigation application on carplay.

After entering an address, I deceided not to go there. The gps cannot be readdressed or deleted with a simple comand. It is most distracting to hear the repetition of the previous address while driving. No one person at the dealership could give instructions to delete the gps, except to turn it off.

Vehicle was parked, just turned the car from engine on to off with just the battery on running the radio while I was preparing to exit the vehicle. Suddenly the entire radio system completely stopped working. I looked at my infotainment screen and it was certainly having a issue because ever since that day over one year ago I have not been able to listen to radio, use gps, use bluetooth, etc. I believe this to be under a safety issue due to 1) loss of phone/bluetooth (use of mobile phones while operating the vehicle is required in many states to go through bluetooth) and I cannot comply with these laws if my system has malfunctioned, 2) I paid for a vehicle with a gps navigation for a reason and now I lost that expensive capability as well, 3) radio's are used to keep the driver alert and focused and this was lost 4) the looping screen is extremely bright, cannot be darkened and impossible to drive at night with it. I have had to completely cover over my screen so now it's like I'm driving a flintstones vehicle with nothing technology wise in this $25,000 vehicle I paid for. "Toyota customer care contact us - I contacted Toyota via phone call earlier today with limited results, but later emailed Toyota and provided a link to this page. The customer care representative suggested that anyone having problems with their radio/navigation system should call and email their complaints. Toyota is not currently offering any remedy or assistance to prematurely failing radio systems that are out of warranty, but all calls and emails are monitored and when there are multiple complaints, Toyota will recognize a problem and may offer assistance or reimbursement. . Speedometer is not accurate. When using an external gps unit in other vehicles, the speed on the speedometer is accurate. When I am driving in this 2013 Toyota rav 4, the speedometer says 60 mph but the gps says 57 mph. The faster you drive , the larger the discrepancy. This is a limited with 18 �wheels, maybe it was set from the factory for 17� wheels?.

I would like you to consider the navigation system as a safety device. Toyota sells vehicles with outdated maps and charges over $200 for upgrades, which dealers are reluctant to provide. I consider accurate maps a safety concern and I suggest that map updates should be provided on at least an annual basis at a nominal (,$25) fee. The garmin policy would be a benchmark. Right now, my gps is useless; cannot be trusted, and may lead me astray as it is not current. Tis is a safety item.

Continually since we have owned this vehicle, the drivers seat belt will not release to engage the seat belt. We have struggle with this, and as such on numerous occasions have driven the vehicle without the seat belt fastened, for as many as five blocks. This is unsafe. The dealer, and Toyota advises me that "you do not know how to use a seat belt". Are they crazy? I am 64, and know about seat belts, and safety. My father had many awards from the usaf for safety, and vehicle maintenance. This is a problem I have also have issues with the accelerator sticking, not sure if it ties to the cruise control. Finally the gps gives incorrect or erroneous directions. They tell me it is up to date. The air bags based upon news are an unknown issue. It seems with these issues, they should replace vehicles before customers are injured, but the bottom line, is there profit margin/.

When driving at any speed, under any condition, it is impossible to see the navigation screen, causing the driver to look, rather than glance, at the screen to determine driving instructions, road hazards, warnings, etc. The glare is almost blinding at times.

There is huge sun reflection on navigation system & you have very poor vision on navigation. Time to time you have to change your head position to find right angle to read navigation display. This will danger the life of driver tremendously.

At any speed in any weather it is impossible to see the navigation system in this vehicle. . . This needs addressed by the manufacturer as is a paid for upgrade and due to people working to see the system accidents are going to happen.

I own a 2013 rav 4 limited with entune navigation. During the day it is not possible to view the screen. Toyota should take action to correct this issue.

The gps is unusable in daylight due to the glare. . . My other car, a Subaru, works perfectly. Toyota complain division is very polite but says the vehicle is ok? silly but I gave up contacting them.
