1 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2020 Toyota RAV4

Failure Date: 06/01/2020

The fuel indicator shows half only. The tank does not register the correct amount of fuel. The company itself never contacted us re this defect. We turned the car in today as we didn't feel safe driving a car without an accurate fuel gauge reading.

2 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2020 Toyota RAV4

Failure Date: 02/20/2020

Fuel gauge is inaccurate as well as miles remaining calculations are inaccurate. Fuel gauge indicates empty when approximately 2+ gallons remain in the fuel tank.

3 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2019 Toyota RAV4

Failure Date: 01/02/2020

The gas tank will not fill to the full capacity and gauge is inaccurate. The fuel tank size is 14 gallons but I discovered after owning the car for a month that the tank will not fill completely in fact it only fills to 10 gallons meaning the stated vehicle range is false advertising. I have contacted Toyota and opened a case but receive no update or feedback.

4 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2019 Toyota RAV4

Failure Date: 10/11/2019

Mte, gallons to fill up, don't equal the miles to go after a fill up. Have had car a year, have only filled up once more than 10 or so gals, doesn't matter how many miles to empty show on gauges. Don't get anywher near the miles driven that was told to me. I fill up, usually takes about 9-10 GLS. Will have less than 500 miles to drive on that tank of gas. Driving local and on highway.

5 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2019 Toyota RAV4

Failure Date: 06/27/2019

I bought a brand new 2019 Rav4 limited with 150 miles on the odometer, now has about 460 miles. A few days into the purchase, I noticed yellow tick marked glitches showing up on my drivers center main console. This main console displays my mph, speed limit, lta, and more. I thought nothing of it as it went away for a few minutes when I turned on/off my car, but it would show up again. After these yellow tick marks started showing, my whole main center screen will go black with only the rear seat belt red light, park, and bsm lights flashing. In addition, my analog rpm, gas gauge, and temp gauge were all down. I was driving blind for a while, until I had to pull over on the highway/street to restart my car so that I can see my main dash (rpm, mpg, temp, gas, etc) again. Some of the pictures that are attached with black screen are examples of myself turning on/off my car while I was stuck in traffic so I could restart/see all of my main dash console gauges, rpm, mpg, etc. When my screen goes dark, I have to look at the other cars to match their speed because I was basically driving blind. This is a serious safety concern to myself and my family! I have a video of this scary occurrence, but the video file is too big to attach. I took the car in the day of this started to happen and it continue to sit in the dealership.

6 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2019 Toyota RAV4

Failure Date: 01/01/2019

The car's fuel tank does not fill up. Each time I fill up, it allows approx 10-11 gallons of a 14 gall tank. Unclear if the fuel gauge is working or if the alert for needing gas is accurate. Not performing as advertised.

7 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2017 Toyota RAV4

Failure Date: 07/05/2017

Purchased car from st. Charles Toyota IL on july4, 2017 VIN jtmzfrev1hj137775. Purchased and picked up 2017 Rav4 le from them on july4th (between 11am - 3pm). Drove car from st. Charles to peoria IL. Today on july6 Rav4 has 194 miles. Later came to know that their service dept. Was actually closed on July 4th. Identified three problems. While driving, engine temperature gauge swayed little right from middle position. Was curious and checked dipstick today on july6 and found engine oil dip stick at abnormal low level. Picture attached. Brake pedal felt spongy, felt a drag in braking when I apply brakes. Found water dripping down on ground while a/c was running in parked positon. Water dripped on ground little off from front axle. Recorded water dripping.

8 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2008 Toyota RAV4

Failure Date: 08/04/2014

My car would not start, and the check engine light and oil light remained on even while key was not in ignition. Also, there was a humming and slight ticking noise coming from the engine while the car was turned off. It seemed like something had shorted out and something electrical was causing something to stay on constantly and it was draining the battery. After researching on the internet someone else had this same problem, and they found that there was a leak coming from the windshield on the the passenger side of the vehicle. So I pulled up my carpet and sure enough the entire floor board was covered with water and the pad was completely soaking wet. It appears that water has damaged something in the electrical system. I am not the only one with this problem, and I do not feel that I should have to repair this myself. The vehicle should be void of leaks and able to function in rain and snow conditions. Toyota really needs to address this issue and take responsibility for this defect. Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. . Read more...

9 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2003 Toyota RAV4

Failure Date: 01/07/2014

While driving the highway in my Rav4, it randomly bogs down or stalls out completely. You have to steer over to the side of the highway because it loses power and the gauges go whacky on you. Sometimes it shuts off and sometimes it just loses power and when you put it in park and shut it off, it will eventually "go again". You can be driving 55 one second and it stalls out to 3 mph the next second without any indication that it is going to happen. Toyota said they could replace the ecm if it was before 150,000 miles, which it was not. They told me they won't do anything after 150,000 miles, not even meet me half way to pay to replace it. Its an obvious problem if they sent a letter out. I've had it to three repair (including a Toyota dealer) shops and none of their 'computer checks' show anything is wrong with the car. How do you fix something if you don't know what is wrong with it? they have done tune ups, replaced the oxygen sensor and minor adjustments to no help. I've spent over $1,000 in repairs for "nothing" -or maybe this is it. I drive 2-lane highways and it is going to strand me someplace, if I don't get rear-ended by a semi-truck before that happens. I am afraid to drive it and I am afraid to let my teenagers drive it. The car is still in beautiful shape, has been garaged most of its life, has had regular oil changes, etc. And basically its worthless to me. I can't sell it outright with this problem that no one can find because I couldn't handle if someone got hurt, and I can't afford to replace it. I bought a Toyota because of their long life (everyone told me they will last 300,00 miles) but they have very much disappointed me in their customer service. What is it going to take, someone to get killed for them to realize that they have a known problem? why won't they fix it after 150,000 miles? it doesn't make any sense.
