Up to March 17, 2021 when I would drive by sign with a posted speed limit the car would read the sign and display the speed on dash for approx. 30 seconds then the speed limit sign would disappear. On March 18, 2021 things changed when I got on interstate -75 and passed the sign with the posted speed limit 70mph the digital sign on the dashboard read 75 mph. (photo a) a second change was the display did not vanish after 30 seconds but remined displayed. as I passed several other 70mph signs the display in the car still read 75mph. I then cancelled radar tracking to see if the problem would go away and it did not (photo b). I thought maybe if I came to a complete stop the 75mph would disappear; it did not (photo c) finally, when I passed a posted speed limit of 45 mph the dashboard speed limit updated. (photo d). My guess as to what is going on . On the night of March 17, 2021 Toyota updated the software to all cars, so the dashboard speed limit sign would not disappear. Inadvertently, Toyota somehow made a 2nd unintentionally change so the when the car's computer sees a 70mph sign it reads it as 75mph.

There is a rattling sound coming from the driver's door when the car is stationary and the door is swung closed. The rearview mirror of the door has significant shaking while the car is in motion, so this is a safety hazard. The speaker in the driver's door makes a static or crackling sound when music is off.

Passenger heated side mirror cracked from cold weather. Not impacted by accident or negligence from I or someone. When heated mirror was on I noticed a crack appearing.
Roof rack is leaking on both sides of my Rav4. I can't get any assistance with getting it fixed. It's a 2019 with 58,000 on it. I have seen several post with the same issue.
I was driving on a city street and I heard a loud cracking sound. My sunroof cracked and the glass shattered. I was not under any sort of underpass or tree.

We were returning from daytona beach, FL on 09/26/2018 and approx. 20 miles from warner robbins, GA when we heard what sounded like a gunshot. We were on the interstate in mild traffic with temperature in 80's and overcast. We saw nothing hit our car and no bullet holes, but knew their was a lot of noise and something was wrong. We pulled back the cover on our sun roof and saw the glass was shattered and raised upward. It had exploded. We went to the dealer in warner robbins and they said it looked like it could have been a small crack in the glass. A defect. They vacuumed out the glass and covered it with cardboard, plastic garbage bags and put masking tape all around it to protect us. (they of course did not have the part. ) the hotel there allowed us to park under their entrance which was covered as it was beginning to rain. On 09/27/2018 as soon as we got home to nashville, TN we went to the dealer we had purchased this car from only 4 months earlier on 06/02/2018. They have refused our claim. We don't think this is fair since we didn't cause this, but that seems to be sop in these cases.

While driving at approximately 55 mph on a two lane highway, the sunroof suddenly cracked and then shattered for no apparent reason. There was no debris (rock, bolt) etc found in the glass once we were able to pull over and look at the damage. The glass appears to have bowed upward and away from the frame and then shattered.

Dash has been cracking on both passenger and drivers side, the crack on passenger side is approximately 1. 5 inches in length and stops by airbag panel on dash. The drivers side crack is roughly ten inches and is continuing up towards instrument panel (still cracking). No accidents, cracks get bigger with time and driving.
Sunroof glass cracked with a loud bang while driving on highway, at about 55 mph. Weather was clear and warm (not very hot). No other vehicles close by. No flying debris observed prior to loud bang. Entire pane was riddled with cracks. During subsequent trip into town, some of the glass pieces came loose and flew off, leaving a large hole surrounded by unstable glass.

I put my rav 4 2009 in park while running and got out of the car and talked to my mail carrier, went around my car to my mailbox and all of a sudden, my car took off accelerating and backed out of the driveway, I tried to get the car but it was moving too fast it hit a tree. Now I keep it in er brake when I get out. Toyota dealers claim they cannot check to see what happened. I am sorry as to what to do, I had a witness to this incident I am afraid of my own car, I do not know when it will do it again. Was told I should be glad I did not get run over when I walked behind it.

The sunroof spontaneously shattered. It sounded like a loud thud of something hitting the roof of our car, but we were driving in an open park area with nothing overhead and no other cars within close distance. We opened the sunroof cover and saw that it had completely cracked. By the time we got home, much of the glass was missing.

My 2008 Rav4 with 69,548 miles was in motion (approximately 50 mph) when my driver's side visor became detached from the headliner. The visor fell on my lap causing me to become very startled. Fortunately, I did not lose control. I found that there was a service bulletin t-sb-0068-10 issued for this defect but no recall. The dealer charged me $127. 52 to replace the visor and the bracket.

The roof rack cross bars do not stay in place while being used and car is in motion. We purchased a rockymount for our bikes that connects to the roof crossbars and when driving on the interstate, the stock cross bars moved backwards so that our bikes were hanging over the backside of the car.

We were driving down the interstate at about 65 mph at around 9 am when we heard what sounded like a boom on top of our 2014 Rav4. There were other vehicles on the road but there was nothing that we saw fly up off the road and immediately turned to see what might have flown off the back of the vehicle and saw nothing. We were able to exit the freeway and find a parking lot to see what happened to our vehicle. Our sunroof had a big hole in the middle and all the rest of the glass was cracked like a spider web. There was nothing found such as rock or other object in the glass that could have hit the vehicle and no other damage to the roof. Thankfully the cover was closed at the time. We did not have a choice but to break out all the remaining glass after contacting the Toyota dealership/and insurance company, so as not to spray glass on the road or drivers on our 45 mile drive back home. Toyota dealership told us it would not be covered under our warranty and would have to be an insurance claim. We feel that this is a manufacturer defect.
I was driving on the beltline at 7:45am. It was about 74 degrees outside, and I was traveling at about 62mph. Suddenly I heard a loud pop that startled me, causing me to pull the steering wheel to the left and the car to veer toward the ditch. I was able to gain control of the car and continue on the road. Initially I thought the car was on fire as there was a loud crackling sound that I couldn't locate. Soon I realized that the sun roof had shattered, and hundreds of minute slivers of glass were raining in to the car--covering half my head and body, the center console, and the passengers seat. I shut the roof panel under the sunroof and drove home. Although the sun roof shattered, it stayed pretty much intact.
After the check engine, vehicle stability control & 4wd warning lights displayed on my 2007 Toyota Rav4 with 89,400 miles, I went to my local Toyota dealer for a diagnosis of the problem. Upon inspection and testing, their service advisor stated, "the emissions system has malfunctioned since water has leaked into the emission system & its charcoal canister". The source of the water occurred since the fuel filler tube housing no longer was properly attached/secured to the vehicle. This allowed rwater coming down the side of the vehicle to enter through the fuel filler door by the fuel cap into the charcoal canister. To remedy the problem, the fuel filler assembly along with gaskets, some electronic and the charcoal canister required replacement for the emission system to properly function and to be in compliance with epa standards. The total cost of the repair $1,400 which Toyota would not cover since it was not under recall, nor would they consider paying under my extended 6 yr 100,000 mile warranty since that expired July 5, 2013. I find it incredible that Toyota would not pay for these repairs since they involve emissions as well as a safety issues. Based on my review of various blogs covering Rav4's, this is a common problem and Toyota admits no fault. As with all issues with Toyota they deny they have design/safety issues with any of their vehicles - sudden acceleration, steering suspension & braking. It took me repeated service visits to get them to replace the front steering rack under my extended warranty. I feel my fuel filler assembly and charcoal canister repair is a safety issue since gasoline could easily leak out down the tube on gasoline overfill and cause a fire if it reached the exhaust system. 20 yrs ago I had a similar issue with a Honda which was repaired under a recall at no charge. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The rear side window (not the rear passenger window - the stationary one to the trunk) spontaneously exploded when I closed the driver side door after getting into the car. The car was parked in my enclosed garage. There was nothing hitting the window and the window was not chipped or cracked before the explosion. 90% of the glass is on the garage floor indicating an explosion vs implosion. The car was not even running at the time. Air pressure inside an enclosed car should not cause a window to explode. Outside temperature 62. The car was less than a year old!.
In the fall of 2011, the vsc and 4wd lights came on in my 2007 Rav4. At the same time my cruise control and 4wd stopped working. I took my car to teton Toyota in idaho falls, id and was told that the charcoal canister was cracked and needed to be replaced at a cost of $1775. 00. I could not afford to fix the car and eventually I purchased a used charcoal canister and had it installed by an independent mechanic. Then in Feb. 2012, the lights came on again so I took my car to stones Toyota in rexburg, id. The mechanic there confirmed that the charcoal canister was cracked again. I told him that I had replaced it with a used part and he stated that Toyota had redesigned the part so that it wouldn't crack, so if I wanted to fix the problem for good, I'd have to purchase the new part. I have not yet replaced the unit at this time. If Toyota knew that the original part was defective and have now redesigned it, why are they charging their customers over $1500 to replace it? besides not having any 4wd in rural idaho in the winter, the emissions system is no longer working due to this defective part.
Fuel throttle linkage failure: high idle speed; unpredictable idle speed oscillation / surges, unpredictable acceleration / deceleration (particularly when engine is cold). Car will sometimes fail to decelerate after taking foot off gas when at low speeds (10-25 mph), for example, when turning a corner or driving down a residential street. This manual transmission car will sometimes drive/lurch forward on its own without pressing on the gas pedal when in 2nd or 3rd gear, once rpms drop to about 1500. Told by the dealer and Toyota that this is the result of a new emissions control computer, and that the car is operating as designed. Structure - roof rack: piece of the covering to the roof rack fell off when driving down the freeway. Could have been dangerous if there would have been a car driving behind me at the time.
