Seat Belt Problems of Toyota RAV4 - part 2

The seat belt for the driver's seat often wedges itself between one or another of the levers of the seat-adjustment mechanisms and the side of driver's seat. I am concerned that this may cause the belt to operate less than optimally.

I bought this 2007 Rav4 late last year and just discovered, when trying to lock in a car seat (my first time with back seat passengers) that two of the rear seat belt buckles do not work. Both the rear passenger and the middle seat belt buckles do not allow the seat belts to lock. Therefore I can only have one passenger in the back seat.

After the mechanic replaced both of the rear brakes and front outer tie rod, the mechanic remained outside of the vehicle but leaned in and depressed on the brake pedal when both of the driver and passenger curtain air bags inadvertently deployed. The driver side curtain air bag deployment caused bruising to the mechanic's back. However, no medical attention was received. The driver side seat belt was inoperable after the air bags deployed but was replaced by the independent mechanic. The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that they inspected the air bags on 10/27/2014. However, no repair was performed at the time. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the dealer had already resolved the air bags recall prior to the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 189,000.

On june10th. I had a majoir accident in which both my wife & myself suffered fractured sternums & fractured ribs. What happened was that I pulled into a lot in princeton, n. J. & after stopping to set my gps, I just tapped the accelerator & the car shot forward, as if shot out of a cannon. While stopped I put the car in reverse & the car shot backwards in the same manner, thereby striking a wall. Now I went forward like a rocket, with no time to hit the brake, thereby going headfirst into a parked construction truck.

I was driving on a dirt road around 25-30 mph when my drivers side curtain shield airbag (csa) deployed unexpectedly. Previous to deploying, the seatbelt had suddenly locked into place. I leaned back to get the seatbelt to release, and as I tried to lean forward to see if it had, the airbag suddenly and unexpectedly deployed. I stopped the vehicle and looked around the car for damage from a collision and observed none. I also did not feel or sense a collision happening. I believed this issue may be related to a Toyota airbag recall, prompting me to contact them. Toyota did an inspection and read the electronic data recorder for the vehicle. Upon completion they told me that the edr had sensed a collision on the left rear of the vehicle, causing the airbag to deploy. I have a copy of the edr, though no means to read it or verify if this is correct. Based on the information about the collision, I pursued a claim with my comprehensive insurance. The insurance company found no damage to my vehicle and cited a faulty sensor and cited Toyotas csa and seatbelt recall of 2007 Rav4s. Toyota insists that my vehicle is not involved in the recall and that this issue is unrelated. I would like to know if that is true, as my insurance is denying the claim and citing the recall as the reason. I did have a Toyota dealer replace the seatbelt, as after the airbag deployed it was no longer functional. I also still have the airbag, just in case it needs to be inspected or something.

Air bag light is on all the time and seat bell is flashing and front rotors excessive rust and only about 2 1/2 inches in middle the rotors.

Toyota has been claiming I have no open recalls and I learn I have two. They can not locate my VIN to remedy my issues . . . Since I've own the vehicle in three states, and again now here in wisconsin. My vehicle body is literally falling apart (on its own!) and I can't repair it or get recalls rectified. It's a 2007 with under 70k mikes! I paid for an extended warranty and they did nothing but oil changes which I paid for.

Passenger seat belts don't chime when unlatched light isn't displayed.

Rental vehicle after 10/15/minutes of driving -you had to use both hands on steering wheel vehicle wanted to drift in and out of lane of travel-very hard to steer often referd to as white knuckle driving interstate speeds 70mph-passenger seat was not locking -seat was traveling back and forth. We were hit from the rear. All traffic had stopped- it was then discovered that passenger and drivers seat belts were not working they were not engaging locking device.

Toyota found occupant ecu needed replacement internal failure. Simply the seatbelt light and airbag warning lights came on. . Air bag system automatically shuts off and is not protecting passenger in the event of an accident.

Miller Toyota peoria (8633 w bell rd, peoria, az 85382, (480) 865-3990) to be diagnosed, but they were unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 7,000.

In addition, the seat belt indicator illuminated while the passenger side seat belt was buckled. The vehicle was taken to lugoff Toyota (878 us-1, lugoff, SC 29078) where it was diagnosed that the seat occupant computer needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.

The contact stated while the vehicle was at the dealer for a service appointment, the dealer performed the recall repair of NHTSA campaign number: 16v096000(seat belts); however, after the recall repair, the seat belts became inoperable. Airbag light has been on entire ownership along with seatbelt light flashing for passenger seatbelt. Whether buckled or unbuckled. Or even when nobody is in the front passenger seat. Constant issue whether stationary, in motion, and on highways/city streets.

Takata recall, I have replace my tires least four times in a year, shakes when I get up to 45 miles per hour my back tires make this funny sound like my tires about to come off when I'm driving on the road my seatbelts release when they wanted releaser randomly,s sometimes I can't even get out my when I accelerate my car doesn't want to go when I am turning,I can only pick three box's from up top.

Tl the contact owned a 2015 Toyota Rav4. While driving at an unknown speed, the contact noticed that another vehicle was approaching head on towards him. The contact attempted to avoid a crash and moved over to the other side of the highway; however, the other vehicle did the same thing. The other vehicle struck the contact on the passenger side of the vehicle. A police report was filed. The ambulance was called and four out of the five occupants were transported to the hospital. A ten year old occupant was air lifted to the hospital and later died. The vehicle was destroyed and towed from the scene. Prior to the crash, the contact was alerted that the rear passenger side seat belt was defective. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer (north hollywood Toyota, 4606 lankershim blvd, north hollywood, CA 91602) for regular maintenance. The technician informed the contact that the seat belt was defective and an appointment was scheduled for February 17, 2018. The crash occurred the day before the appointment. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 45,000.

The turn signal flashes in the cabin , but it is quiet,and I can not hear it. The dealer said 2 times that it can not be adjusted , case closed. . I contacted Toyota customer exp. Center , case # 1710260008 and 1802092112 and talked to khary w . The case manager 1-800-331-4331 and he said the dealers service tech. Is right case is closed. I believe a safety issue exists here. . . I have electric seats and the seat belt receiver is low in the crevice in the corner making time to buckle up very ,very hard in the winter. My vehicle has the passenger air bag off and do not detect when the passenger is sit and buckled up the passenger weight it's over 100 pounds, I took my vehicle to a independent repair shop for a code to be read and the only code it shows it's b1550 (occupant classification system ) the vehicle has never been involved into an accident. I took it to the Toyota dealer located at 4413 mchenry avenue in modesto, CA the dealer receptionist said that they can't take of it, because there's no recall in record about this issue, but it is a manufacture defect that affects the safety of vehicle owner.

I am filing a complaint against butler Toyota located at 9419 aronson dr. , indianapolis, in 46240. This is the address of the service department. We have been calling them for two years to try and get the recalls taken care on our car. Each time we have called they say they do not have the parts in stock. I just tried to schedule an appointment with the service department again today and was given the same story.

Right side rear seat and middle rear seat belt buckles fail to lock properly or not at all. One is currently useless. Left side rear ok. I noted this purchasing this car used inspecting. Is this covered under a warranty or federal mandate?.

Takata recall - the 3 seat belts in the back do not lock while in motion. My 6yr. Son is constantly sliding while the vehicle is in motion. It occurs when the vehicle is stationary, in motion, on a city street or highway, turning, applying the brakes, abruptly swaying to right or left to avoid collision, etc.

Found by mail about rakata air bags, and my service for oil,filter was called by repair shop,time for service, finish the car service , before lived I ask a question about, the recall and he look the screen,took 30 seconds (flahs) and says, you car, don't have any recall, why? no im curious, what about the rear suspension arm 1, and heard about seat belts,safety recall, and most of info. Still in chinese or japanes, and some one put new but como n they look cheap and have a tacoma totally dif. Found 11 recalls, now trasmission aut,burn out,at 100000 miles, sorry but look like the repair shops don't care about "us" the want to sell carts, but make a ot of mistakes and we pay to get kill in car accident,cause defect of factury,they fixed the cars,but life and few thurs and dlls don't return wifes,sons,husband,gone so why cars companies are in so much in a hurry not easy to pay a loan of 60,000 in 5 years, and 3 years later want you to leave the car and again,and again,aain by t m, pas,CA #1.

We received a recall notice and been calling the dealer repeatedly. They state as of today they still can not correct the defect as they have no parts and have not been trained. Nor will they schedule to repair into the future. This recall effects the seat belts in the back seat, which is where my children sit.
