Failure Date: 10/10/2020

I I have been having a loud sound from the passenger side rear. . . I have had the car for 3 years I had to have the sway bars replaced within the past 6 months. . I am highly afraid that this is associated with recall that supersede 13v-383 which was prior to when bought the SUV. . It's hard to tell if the sound goes away after some time driving but is very noticeble at low speed.

3 Sway Bar problem of the 2008 Toyota RAV4

Failure Date: 06/19/2018

While making a right turn I heard a loud pop then a thump like something falling on the back floor and hitting the side of the car. Thought, at first it was the items in my back cargo space rising up and falling as if I hit a speed bump too fast. I was only turning onto another road when I heard the loud noise. I took the car to a place that gave free estimates and they discovered the drivers side sway bar bolt had broke off. They said it was from rusting and it finally gave. Was recommended to replace both sides. Not happy as I already put much money into this car after I bought it 3 years ago.

4 Sway Bar problem of the 2010 Toyota RAV4

Failure Date: 10/06/2017

Heard a loud sound in the rear of the vehicle while driving down the road at about 30 mph. Sound hear again while turning into my driveway. Later, while on the highway, the vehicle seemed to be swaying. Took the vehicle to the dealer for an inspection, which revealed that the rear sway bar links were loose and required replacement. One rear shock was leaking and both rear shocks needed replacement. I don't understand why sway bar link defect is not covered by the manufacturer since this is clearly a product defect with potentially serious safety consequences.

5 Sway Bar problem of the 2007 Toyota RAV4

Failure Date: 07/01/2016

Rear sway bar links rusted and broken. Colonial Toyota wants to charge $398 for replacement while it only costs around $50 for the part. Thus, two complains. 1. Manufacturer Toyota should cover the defective parts replacement via recall as this complain is widespread. 2. Toyota should require dealer to not charge outrageous amount for this and cover the cost.

6 Sway Bar problem of the 2007 Toyota RAV4

Failure Date: 05/17/2016

After hearing a clunk type sound back in 2012 I took the car to the dealer and found out that the right rear say bar linkage had rusted out. The sway bar was not secure anymore. Fast forward to the fall of 2015 and now I have the same sound. . . Not remembering about prior incident I finally discover that the left sway bar linkage is not rusted off too. Why wouldnt the dealer do boh replacements back then. And by putting only one new one did that put pressure onto the other one. Isnt it odd to have both side of a sway bar link rust out. This problem seems a bit too widespread to ignore.

7 Sway Bar problem of the 2007 Toyota RAV4

Failure Date: 03/01/2016

R/r sway bar end link broken. Upper and intermediate steering shaft broken.

8 Sway Bar problem of the 2009 Toyota RAV4

Failure Date: 02/15/2016

I have had several issue with the rv4, all related to the rear suspension. The recal for toyoa with part of the suspension leaksunbolted from the car while traveling at about 30 mph. The right rear tire went up in to the wheel well. Only because of the slow speed did I not get in to an accident. Vehicle had to be towed to the dealer. At 65k miles, I took the car in again to the shop. Both rear linkages to the anti-sway bar were broken and had to be replaced. Again another issue with the rear suspension.

12 Sway Bar problem of the 2007 Toyota RAV4

Failure Date: 09/18/2014

While driving on the highway during my recent vacation I heard a loud bang from under the rear of the vehicle. Immediately after while still driving, pieces of metal fell off the bottom of my car hitting the vehicle behind me. We both pulled over, my rear stabilizer / sway bar had busted and fallen from the car. Now I have to pay several hundred dollars for repairs, my wife and I could of been severely hurt or worse, and now possibly pay for a cracked windshield from the car behind me. I have read several other complaints from Toyota owners that experienced this same problem. This should of not happened at only 54000 miles. This is a dangerous situation. (this vehicle has never towed anything).
