1 Frame And Members problem of the 2005 Toyota Scion Tc

Failure Date: 11/05/2010

2005 Scion Tc, sun roof exploded while driving at I-85 freeway. All windows and sunroof were closed when it happened. The shattered sunroof have a huge hole in middle front section of the sunroof and shattered all four sides. On daily driving, I noticed that the car structure flex too much, enough to produce popping sound. Toyota dealer initial assessment is not part of warranty or recall as of this date 11/05/2010.

2 Frame And Members problem of the 2008 Toyota Scion Tc

Failure Date: 07/01/2010

I own a 2008 Scion Tc which that is driven by my son and have 2 complaints which I feel are safety defects. Upon taking it in for repairs on 6/16/10 we advised the service advisor at Toyota of hollywood (FL) that the front grill fell off after hitting a bump in the road. The service advisor told us that we should repair this ourselves since he didn't want Toyota to be liable if it fell off again. Shouldn't they be liable in the first place since they are the manufacturer of the vehicle? secondly, while my son was driving on I-95 last week (7/1/10), the hatchback popped open while driving at a speed of approximately 55 mph. When he arrived home, we noticed that the latch to the hatchback was very loose and held together by 2 worn out screws. I contacted the service manager at Toyota of hollywood for a resolution to this matter and have not yet received a return phone call.

3 Frame And Members problem of the 2005 Toyota Scion Tc

Failure Date: 06/19/2010

1. Driver door required more force to close. Later, I noticed the driver window would not raise more than half way. 2. The window regulator arm is bent, and the internal attachment point is broken. The window gets progressively worse over time, and the raised height becomes lower. 3. The dealer stated their must have been previous damage to the vehicle, and they were unable to resolve. Maaco said they were unable to resolve. More than a year later, took it back to the dealer, and the new service personnel were able to replace the regulator arm, and weld it to the door in March 2010. It's now June, and the window will no longer go past the half way point when attempting to close. Each time I've attempted to get a resolution, the dealer has insisted the internal door damage is a result of a previous accident (carfax is clear) or due to the previous owner replacing the door mounted audio speaker. Now, I read another complaint with very similar damage that makes me believe this is an inherent problem that the dealer should have fixed when the car was still under warranty.

4 Frame And Members problem of the 2006 Toyota Scion Tc

Failure Date: 02/12/2009

Driving down the highway at 65mph, the sunroof shattered without anything hitting it. Sunroof cover was closed preventing glass from coming into the cabin and preventing possible injury. After speaking with scion they are unwilling to cover repair costs sighting that it could have been debris from the road. Clearly, I have no proof except for the numerous other claims through NHTSA. Regardless, they have been less than helpful in rectifying the situations and solving the issue.

5 Frame And Members problem of the 2006 Toyota Scion Tc

Failure Date: 02/04/2009

In early February 2009 my driver's side door did not open all the way. I thought that it just was sticking and gave it a harder push. It then started working fine. A couple of weeks later I went to the drive through at the bank and lowered the window. When I went to put it up it only went up half way. It was two months out of warranty. I took it to the dealer they told me that the way the hinge and window mechanism are designed I needed a completely new door, that the old one could not be fixed. I found out this is a design defect with the car which dealers were notified of in 2007, but were not required to notify vehicle owners. The repair was going to cost me around $2400. Just found a friend who was able to fix it in an hour and a half. There is a modification available if you know about the problem and ask. Modification really needs to be done before the problem occurs, or at least before you use the window after the door sticks, but if you are unaware of the design problem, the initial sticking of the door seems like a minor next time the car is service have it lubed type issue. Updated 09/01/09.

6 Frame And Members problem of the 2007 Toyota Scion Tc

Failure Date: 04/27/2008

I woke up this morning and saw my glass wind deflector shattered into many pieces. Im worried that if I open it, glass will fall on over me. I brought it to the dealership and they said a little rock hit it which caused it to shattered. They wanted to charge me over $400. But if I get it fixed, it will be likely to happen again. The previous model had a recalled with the same problem and it was being fixed for free. How come are they trying to charge me? the laminated tape doesn't go across the whole glass wind deflector. The laminated tape doesn't prevent the glass from cracking so therefore it will happen again and if I was driving while it was up. I'm more likely to get injured.
