Vehicle emits a rotten egg smell through the ventilation system whenever we step on the accelerator. Sometimes the smell is so bad that it burns our eyes and nose! Toyota acknowledged the problem, stating they could not do anything until a recall for the catalytic converter is issued. They further said that earlier year models (2003-2005) vehicles had the same problem!.

Upon acceleration vehicle cabin fills with a sulfur (rotten egg) smell. Dealership states they cannot duplicate. Upon pickup the vehicle exhibited the same problem within one block of the dealership.
My 2002 Toyota Sequoia is emitting a foul, rotten egg, sulfurous smell from the exhaust. My vehice only has 2000 miles on it and the catalytic converter has been replaced once. I cotacted the manufacturer and was told that the smell is a bi-product of the sulfur in the fuel not being completely burned in the converter. I was asked to use higher octane fuel and that did not solve the problem. The manufacturer is telling the dealer that they are aware of the situation and they are investigating it. I did notice the smell on other Sequoias.
