Transmission sluggish vehicle delay when changing to 2nd & 3rd gears. Van uses excessive amounts of gasoline. Very poor gas mileage. When I took vehicle to dealership they reprogrammed engine control module r&r however after driving car for 2weeks problem began again.

: the contact stated the vehicle hesitated while pulling out of a parking lot with the accelerator depressed. The vehicle was driven to the dealer who determined the transmission control did not operate correctly. The consumer stated there is a 2-3 second delay in acceleration. 2004 Toyota Sienna le. Vehicle hesitates when acceleration. There is a big delay before the car gains speed. This is a on going problem. Dealer states that the car was made that way and there is nothing that they can do to correct the problem. This hesitation can cause an accident at any time.

5 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2000 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 12/20/1999

Location-parking lot, raining, tires lost traction and accelerator stuck on full, brakes would not function. The vehicle propelled forward glancing off the back of a full sized pickup and deflected into a suburban where it finally stopped. No one was hurt but this situation could have been very serious if anyone had been near because I had very little control(steering only).
