Heard valves tapping alot of time. Reported and took to Toyota. They said no code no work. They gave the line of when this gas hits this part then this one tries to catch up or burn excess fuel. Out of 40 plus years and puchasing many vehicle I never been told that before. I talked to other 2017 owners and they dont have this issue. Also the brakes make metalic clunking noises moving backwars and fowrds when braking. Thier answer was floating valves. And again this issue isnt on other tacomma owners. I tryed three times with valve issues. Same old line no code no work. Maybe pads are worn but still have 70 % left on pads.

takita recall several times I have taken my pickup to the dealer for a cling, spring sound when you are apply brakes. And the engine has loud ticking sound . The first time they said it was how the vehicle was made. There is a noise coming from the front end especially when you are on a bad road disclose they cant hear anything. Took it back again they said they can't find nothing even to the brake noise that they said was a part of how the vehicle was made. They take your vehicle have it for two days then pretend to work on it then give it back to you and never find anything. Then you the customer have to experience these annoying unsafe experiences. You get so discouraged because they never can find anything and when they do is how the vehicle is made then by the time you keep going back and with the same respond the warranty is close to end. Last time I took the pickup in was January 28,2019 and they returned it on the 30th with no document to what they did.

They would not look at the system unless there was a recall. The manufacturer had not been contacted yet. The vehicle remains unrepaired. The failure mileage was 2,500. Tf.

Around 30,000 miles, I started getting a clunking noise everytime I came to a stop. Either when I stopped or when I took my foot off the brake. I talked to the Toyota mechanic and he said it was a drive shaft problem and there wasn't anything he could do until I called the 800 number and put a fire under there butt. So here I am - filing a complaint, trying to get this fixed.

: the contact stated when accelerating in 1st gear at 15 mph, the vehicle stalled on 9 occasions. At other times, the shifter would not go into reverse. There was a clunking noise when shifting occurred that became constant as the problem worsened. The vehicle was taken to a service dealer but the problem was not corrected. An appointment was scheduled with another service dealer. The fuel warning light was not activated at the proper volume of fuel. These problems happened shortly after the carpeting was replaced due to water leaking through the firewall. The manufacturer was notified. The consumer stated the vehicle jumped out of park and into reverse. On numerous occasions the truck stalled. Updated 12/18/06.
Truck had 0 miles and from day 1 I have heard a tapping sound(rocker arm loose)complained was told by dealer it was injector noise. I said well that injector must be bad change it was told all Toyota's make that noise. This was a lie I have had it back 5x and I know I could fix it in 10 min by adjusting valve lash. I do not want to void the warranty hahahaahahah so hopefully it will not burn out the valve and it will wait for the recall ahahahahaha. The guy with the clunk my truck don't clunk it taps. The clunk is a bad u joint I hope for your sake. If this truck lasts the 4 years it takes me to pay it off. I will get rid of it and go back to Nissan.
I complained of a rapping, tapping noise in engine on 8/26/97. Truck had 15877 miles on it. Was told nothing was wrong. I again complained of noise 1/29/98. Truck had 21851 miles on it. Sounded like tapping noise coming from top of engine . Same noise as before. They said nothing was wrong. At 56500 miles tapping got slightly louder. I again complained of noise at beginning of December 2001. I was told they could hear it then (after warranty had expired!) they told me I hadnt changed my oil and it would cost 4400 dollars for a new short block. I knew I wasnt at fault. I removed engine so I could determine cause of noise. The problem is a defective crankshaft. It is not machined correctly. It is not drilled thru to allow the flow of oil thru the bearing. I showed them the crank. They admitted it was a factory defect. They will not put it in writing. Their may be thousands of other trucks whose owners are getting ripped off for the cost of a new engine. They will be told they didnt change their oil. Toyota will pocket alot of money. The owners will be completely unaware of this major scam. Toyota must admit in writing they were made aware of this. They must be held accountable. This is a serious safety hazard. The engine could fail in traffic causing severe accidents.
