1 Gas Tank Strap problem of the 2007 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 11/20/2019

Fuel tank strap rusted and broke. No warning. I was hearing a noise when I took take off and driving. Couldn't figured out what that was until I looked back and found the gas tabs strap was tangling and hit the prop shaft. Then notice the tank was hanging 1/2lower than the front. I called the Toyota and the dealership and both said nothing they can do. No recall even though I told both that this is a safety issue. This vehicle has not had the frame replaced and I tried to get that done but they said it expired. I've only own the vergil's for 3mths. Since the frame did not get replace that means that the fuel, brake, spring, tank, straps did not get replace which is hidden recalled. The dealer ship that my frame needed to be replaced but Toyota would not do fix it. So owning this vehicle for 3 mths and if I had known this before I would not have bought this vehicle. So now I maybe owning a lemon due to this with no help. The dealer ship I bought this told me that there was no recall and there was, when the had the vehicle on there lot. What am I supposed to do? ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly; 3 - VIN corrected, error in one position (assuming check digit is correct); 14 - unable to provide information for all the characters in the VIN. #vpic#.

2 Gas Tank Strap problem of the 2006 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 08/01/2019

My Tacoma is a leasure/work vehicle, garaged and maintained with 65k miles. Within this month I had a main exhuast hanger that was welded to the frame break away and take a large part of the frame with it, then thanks to my wife she noticed an oddity under the bed and it was that 2 of my gas tank straps had broken. I informed the local dealer (kolar) and Toyota, they responded by saying that due to its advanced years, they would not help and are not responsible. If I had been traveling down i35 to the cities at 85 mph and the tank came off, and it struck my or another vehicle this note would be worded very differently. I will provide photos, but I am yet to get my vehicle released from Toyota, not sure how that works, they will not release it to me until it is safe and they would not cover the costs.

3 Gas Tank Strap problem of the 2005 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 09/17/2018

Our 2005 Toyota Tacoma's gas tank had fallen off the frame due to corroded straps while the vehicle was moving at slow speed on our property. The vehicle has less than 140,000 miles on it. The vehicle needed to be towed to a local Toyota dealership. There was no serious injury. However, had the tank separated while being driven it is very possible and probable that this could have resulted in ignition, fire, explosion and loss of control of the vehicle, serious injury or death. The dealership had given us an an initial estimate of $1,800 out of pocket expense to pay for the repairs stating that the corrosion is part of winter driving this is far from a plausible and acceptable explanation. Gas tanks should not fall off vehicles and pose such a significant safety threat. Toyota corporate refused to pay for more than roughly $400 in repairs to the out of pocket expenses. The final bill out of pocket expenses were $2,300 in costs for repair.

4 Gas Tank Strap problem of the 2004 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 01/15/2018

While driving I heard an unusual noise coming from underneath the vehicle. Upon self inspection I discovered the fuel tank strap had broke. I noticed also that the fuel tank shield looked like swiss cheese from corrosion. I had a tie down strap that I was able to use to strap the shield and tank up with. I am in the process of looking to repair it. I feel since it is a safety issue Toyota should fix it free of charge. A fuel tank strap should never fail like this.
