I was traveling down an interstate when a rear tire blew out. The tire is a toyo cross country a/t. He tire separated completely leaving the sidewalls on the rim and the tread & belts & rest of the tire tore off in one piece. Luckily, there was no accident/ injury. I looked up recalls and found there is a recall. I did not receive a notice. I have tried to contact toyo and been on hold for over an hour at a time, left message without return call. The tires have less than 20,000 miles on them. I am now very concerned about the safety of the three remaining tires. There was only minor property damage to the truck.

We purchased 4 lt235/75r 15 lrc big foot a/t dual tires at $172. 79 a piece 3/14/06, spending $787. 31. Sunday 6/24/07 on highway 40 at a speed limit of 75mph, the right front tire blew out, almost flipping us over, which would have created enormous damage to ourselves and our vehicle. Luckily, I stabilized the vehicle and pulled off the road. Tuesday 6/26/07 we went to big o tires at 2010 e. Lake mead blvd, north las vegas, nv to get a replacement. Manny was apparently unable to locate a replacement tire, despite checking throughout las vegas and California. How can big o sell tires with a supposed guarantee when they can't locate any such tires with which to replace them? this morning manny put on another brand tire, supposedly of equivalent value and durability. It is a p, not lt, tire?how is that equivalent? it has a speed rating of s vs. The rest of the tires have a speed rating of q. And on the big o tire web site it states, ?never mix tires with different speed ratings, as this may cause serious handling problems. ? so much for equivalence! furthermore, it is a spector advanta tire, and I can find absolutely no information on the internet as to who makes this tire. What kind of warranty am I going to have on the tire? I have another Toyota truck, which also had a tire blow-out, the day after the one mentioned above. These tires came with our above truck and were not big o tires. The store manager suggested the tires were starting to dry rot, so therefore I purchased 4 brand new tires from him for that truck. He sold me prime well tires, and I had to pay for a road hazard warranty, which would have been included in a purchase of big o tires. He?s checked off that it?s a three-year road-hazard 40,000 mile warranty. In the small print it says, ?every new tire sold by big o tires?carries a manufacturer warranty against material and workmanship?? is that the mileage warranty? by the manufacturer, giti, in china?.

Pe00-046/tire failure: left front tire experienced a blowout while traveling at 73 mph with only driver in a 2000, Toyota, Tacoma; original equipment, tire size p265/75r15, dot# unavailable. Goodyear was notified ,and unwilling to assit in this matter.
I bought a Tacoma pick up a couple of years ago. I recently found that one side of my front right tire was extremely damaged down to the steel belts. I took it in to a tire shop and they said I had a very light truck and because I am usually the only passenger the tire worn unevenly. Having one person on one side of the truck all the time did this damage. I had to pay for an alignment (adjusted for one passenger), and a new tire. Why wasn't I told of this? why isn't the truck built to handle this? I'm sure I'm not the only person driving by myself all the time. Is there anyway I can get reimburse for this. My dealer said I wasn't covered for this. Shouldn't there be a national recall or notice to customers about this? I could have blown a tire and crashed. Please give me some answers to this.

Tire blew-out on interstate la 165. Was traveling approx. 65 mph. There was no prior indication that something maybe going wrong with tire. Tire had approx 40 psi air pressure. Truck was not carrying any load. ( dot number: w29v awi tire size: p265/75/15 ).
I was traveling south on interstate 35 in fort worth when my front left tire suddenly blew out. After putting on the spare, I examined the faulty tire and found that the entire side wall had blown out, 360 degrees around. The tire still had sufficient tread. I took it to three tire dealers, and they all agreed it was not a standard blow out and was caused by a defective tire. There were no road hazards and I was traveling in fairly heavy traffic, but I was able to come to a stop and make it to the shoulder. After hearing of the problems and injuries/fatalaties that had been associated with this particular type of tire, I decided to replace all four rather than take any chances with my safety. The total cost to replace the four tires totaled just under $600. Furthermore, I've inquired about replacing the wheel as it too was damaged. The cost on that is $368 from the Toyota dealer. ( dot number: tire size: 265 75r 15 ).
This tire separated and blew out, exactly the same as the problem described for the p235 tire which has been recalled. Please look into whether these tires should also be recalled. Firestone has contended that they are not defective and will not replace them. ( dot number: 42hh awa tire size: p225 75r15 ).
While driving around a curve the left front firestone wilderness tire blewout, driver lost control of the vehicle but was not hurt.
I have had two blowout with my tires on my pick up truck. One tire the tread came off and the other tire was warn from the inside out. If you have any questions about my questionaire please call me at my home number. Thank you jana burns. ( dot number: w2hy tire size: p215/70r14 ).
First incident I was on interstate 5 headed to san jose. I was within 15 miles of my destination, no place to change tire, had to drive on it until I reached outskirts of morgan hill, CA and had spare mounted, purchased a winston tire to take place of spare for my 500 mile journey home to long beach, CA. 2nd incident, I was on the ramp of the 91eastbound freeway and had to immediately get off at long beach blvd. Contacted aaa whereupon the tire was taken off and the winston (spare) was now put on. Took the blown tire to the tire station in carson, CA and they prorated the tire, stating that at the amount of mileage on the vehicle approximately 17,500 I had used up almost 60% apparently, the receipt indicates that they collected 40% of the value of the tire from me, for a total of $32. 10 of a so-called $65. 99 tire. At this point I am lucky to evidently be alive. I've already replaced the tires at my expense instead of waiting for firestone to get off the dime. I have since written them an e-mail expressing my anger and dismay at a company that considers the value of their product more important than the human lives they may have been responsible for. ( dot number: tire size: p215sr14 ).
