We had four goodyear assurance 215/70r/15 tires installed on our 2008 Tacoma pick-up by sam's club in 2019. While driving at highway speed (~55 mph), the driver's rear tire had a blowout of the outside sidewall. There were no objects or potholes run over. After removing the tire and inspecting the tread, there are no signs of any foreign objects in the tread. The tire pressure checks for all the tires were completed within the previous month, and they were balanced and rotated by sam's club within the previous three months. Fortunately, this did not occur on a front tire since we were on a heavily traveled two-lane road and we could have lost control with a catastrophic failure like this one. There were approximately 15k miles of use on all the tires.

A week after buying my Tacoma (04) we were driving on the freeway and w/only 496. 4 miles on it, the truck started to shake continuosly, it started smoking and the steering wheel seized up on me. I managed to avoid a huge car accident, and pulled to the side of the road. When we got out we saw that my back drivers side tire was completely gone and had a sidewall blowout w/nothing left on the tire. I called Toyota and they would do nothing for me since it was the tire, I had to take it to a tire company. I did get the one tire replaced but it was a tire that didn't match my other 3. I had requested all of my tires to be inspected as well as my truck but no one would cooperate.
Vehicle was equipped with 4 goodyear wrangler tires, size p205/75r15, dot # m6ulf00r1203. The outer sidewall on the right rear tire completely exploded. There was no puncture. Consumer was able to pull over to the right.

My firestone wilderness tire exploded just as the others have been described. Yet my tire size and manufacturer location is not one that is being recalled. I have been waiting for the recall to be expanded and it hasn't . A local firestone store on erie blvd. In syracuse, NY informed me that the recall is ongoing and will probably expand. I had to change a sidewall exploded flat on the highway in 90 degree heat and then a year later I find that the same things were happening to others only with more drastic results. My experience leads me to believe that the location and size have nothing to do with it. I think it is the design and all wilderness at's should be recalled. (tiresize: 225/75/15)( dot number: tire size: 225/75/15 ).
The consumer complained about a firestone tire problem. All 5 tires split on the sidewall. Firestone sent an inspector, and was told it was a road hazard. Vehicle was driven less than 1000 miles and the tires were defective. The second set of tires had three tires with splits in the same area. The firestone inspector suggested that this was due to rocks or some sort of problem cutting the tires. The consumer had never driven the vehicle off of paved roads. All eight tires had splits in the same area.
Three of five tires (original) dunlop (p22575r15) have been ruined with sidewall punctures.
