36 Power Train problem of the 2023 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 11/20/2025

My 2023 Toyota Tundra has an intermittent issue where the throttle lags or hesitates when accelerating from a complete stop. The problem occurs unpredictably and causes the truck to fail to respond when pressing the gas pedal. The issue appears to be related to the engine or throttle response system, and the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This malfunction puts my safety and the safety of others at risk because the hesitation can occur while turning left across traffic or merging into traffic, leaving the truck momentarily stalled in the path of oncoming vehicles. The problem has not yet been officially reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or service center, but it has happened multiple times under normal driving conditions. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives at this time. There were no warning lights, messages, or other indicators before or during the hesitation; it happens without any prior notice.

37 Power Train problem of the 2024 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 11/20/2025

Known issue with these trucks apparently. Occasional throttle lag after stopping at a stop sign, with little response from the gas pedal. On November/December of this month pulling out into a main road with traffic coming, I stepped on the gas and experienced a complete "dead pedal". I stepped on the gas and had 0 response from the truck staying at 5-10 mph. With cars now coming towards me quickly as I was not moving I floored the gas pedal and had 0 response for another 2-3 seconds until finally the truck jolted at an extreme rate of speed. *also have a dash cam that recorded in the incident of me flooring it with some vulgar words as cars were coming and the truck was not moving at all.

38 Power Train problem of the 2023 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 11/20/2025

Throttle lag/hesitation when starting from a standstill. Same also occurs when slowly going up a hill, letting off throttle and then back on throttle - engine no response and causes vehicle to roll backwards before engine/transmission catch on again. No service center has looked at this issue yet.

39 Power Train problem of the 2011 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 11/18/2025

The contact owns a 2011 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from a red traffic light, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the residence and remained at the residence for further investigation. In addition, a local independent mechanic was contacted, and the contact was informed that the failure was possibly related to NHTSA campaign number: 11v254000 (power train). The local dealer was contacted; however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 174,000.

42 Power Train problem of the 2023 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 11/12/2025

While driving under normal conditions, my 2023 Toyota Tundra trd pro hybrid experienced a sudden and severe loss of propulsion. The vehicle abruptly entered fail-safe (limp) mode and would not accelerate beyond approximately 5–10 mph. This occurred without warning and created an immediate safety hazard in traffic. Multiple warning messages illuminated simultaneously, including: hybrid system malfunction, check engine, Smart stop system malfunction, and advanced ultrasonic detection malfunction. The hybrid system effectively shut down and the vehicle could not maintain normal road speed. I brought the vehicle to a Toyota dealership. The dealership performed only ecm and hybrid ecu software updates and cleared codes. No mechanical inspection, oil pressure analysis, particulate inspection, turbo system evaluation, hybrid motor synchronization testing, or engineering-level diagnostics were performed. Toyota corporate subsequently stated that the software update was the “final” resolution and declined further diagnostics. I was advised to return to the dealership if the issue reoccurs. This failure mode matches the documented loss-of-propulsion behavior described in Toyota’s v35a engine machining-defect recall (sudden power loss, limp mode, cascading system failures). Hybrid models are currently excluded despite using the same engine platform and exhibiting identical symptoms. Sudden loss of propulsion at road speed presents a serious crash risk. This appears to be a safety-related defect that is not being adequately investigated or remedied for hybrid models.

43 Power Train problem of the 2023 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 11/08/2025

Over the course of ownership I have had frequent instances of loss of power and/or lack of acceleration resulting in almost stalling out while trying to take off. This causes dangerous situations when trying to pull out into traffic because you never know when the vehicle might hesitate and crest unsafe distances between you and other moving vehicles.

44 Power Train problem of the 2023 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 11/08/2025

2023 Toyota Tundra experienced repeated engine stalling and vehicle lock-up while driving on public roads, including in an intersection. During one incident, the driver was thrown forward into the steering wheel. A Toyota dealer attempted repair by replacing the neutral/park safety switch, but the repair failed and the dangerous condition persisted immediately after. The vehicle has been removed from use due to safety concerns. The issue is consistent with known engine stalling concerns affecting certain 2022–2024 Toyota Tundra vehicles. The vehicle is unsafe to operate.

45 Power Train problem of the 2024 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 11/04/2025

Component: electrical harness + vehicle shakiness problem: car would enter limp mode randomly and shut the car down to 18 mph and can cause accidents anywhere, especially in highway where speed limits are 65+. Car also now starts shaking violently when 48 mph is reached which is a safety concern. Reproduce: first turn taking into dealer they found issue then “disappeared” and they could not reproduce, went in again and they produced it then said that I tried tampering the engine then got corporate involved and they paid all of it. Now they are ghosting me and will not check out the shakiness. Inspected: only by summit Toyota dealership (akron ohio) warning lamps: only appeared after issue happened and disappeared when first issue was solved.

46 Power Train problem of the 2017 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 10/21/2025

The transmission solenoid d shows high voltage which sets my check engine light off. At first no difference would be noticed and it would randomly turn off and then back on randomly. After doing this on and off for the last few months, the transmission has randomly been getting stuck in 4th gear but will lower when slowing down. According to those who have had the same issue have found it to be fixed by replacing the s4 solenoid which seems to be producing way more voltage than it’s supposed to.

47 Power Train problem of the 2024 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 10/19/2025

I am the second owner of a 2024 Toyota Tundra that is branded as a manufacturer buyback/lemon. The first owner had the engine short block replaced at around 31,000 miles due to bearing failure. I later bought this truck at around 36,000 miles specifically because Toyota stated that the engine problem had been fixed with the short-block replacement. I relied on that representation and believed I was buying a vehicle whose defect had been properly remedied. Toyota has now issued safety recall 25v767 / 25ta14 (“engine may stall during driving”) for this same v35a engine, including service short blocks. I am concerned that the earlier short-block repair either did not fully fix the underlying defect or may have introduced additional problems. At around 41–42k miles, the truck developed starting issues and then completely failed to start, leaving me stranded in the middle of an intersection in town. The vehicle would not crank or start and had to be towed out of traffic, which I consider a serious safety risk. The dealer ultimately replaced a 50-amp fusible link, the 12v battery, and the starter. The total repair bill was about $2,100 before my third-party extended warranty paid a portion of it. Even with that coverage, this is an extremely expensive repair for a relatively new truck that has already had major engine work. Now I have engine history, electrical/starter problems, and I do not know what other issues may appear. I trusted Toyota’s assurance that the engine problem was fixed, and that is why I felt comfortable buying a branded lemon; this now feels like I was misled or cheated. I am also aware of ongoing engine and reliability complaints on newer 2024–2025 Tundras, which suggests there may be a broader design or quality issue. My concern is that my truck remains defective despite the prior engine short-block replacement and that other owners could experience similar no-start or stall situations in traffic.

48 Power Train problem of the 2022 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 10/18/2025

Transmission overheating while driving uphill in 4x4.

49 Power Train problem of the 2022 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 10/10/2025

I have experienced consistent vehicle jerking since the time of purchase, despite acquiring the vehicle brand new. This jerking typically manifests when maintaining a constant speed between 35-40 mph. Additionally, the vehicle occasionally exhibits a complete lack of acceleration. A particularly concerning incident occurred when I was attempting a left turn from a side road onto a main street with a 40 mph speed limit. Despite assessing sufficient time for the maneuver, the vehicle stalled for approximately one second upon acceleration, leaving me in the middle of the lane with approaching traffic. Similar instances of delayed acceleration have been observed when attempting sudden acceleration after a rolling stop.

50 Power Train problem of the 2025 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 09/26/2025

Unintended acceleration. When you stop the truck, and have the brake on, the rpms go down to idle ~650. As soon as you lift the brake, without touching the accelerator, the vehicle starts ramping up the rpms and moving. On level ground it will go to 1000 easily before you have to stop it. It will pull up a grade even while towing my boat. If you're in a line a traffic, say at a traffic light, and the light changes, traffic moves and the car ahead takes off their brakes, and you do same, the truck starts moving faster than the vehicle ahead without touching anything. It's idling too fast without the brake and doesn't stay at idle once the brake is off before you push the accelerator. First the dealer told me everything was "normal" - it's supposed to do that. I've been driving vehicles since 1962, so I think I know what I'm talking about. They told me to call Toyota. Toyota started a case. They took it in for an factory inspection because I think this might be related to a non highway collision with a bldg, I had shortly after I got it, I'm not sure. I put into park in a parking space but apparently it didn't engage, only into reverse. I was looking for something and the truck started backing up and hit the gas station bldg close behind. The anti-collision was off, because you have to turn it off to tow. And I hadn't turned it back on yet. This truck has way too many audible alarms and very annoying, especially when backing or exit the vehicle. I don't need to know that I'm out of the vehicle.

51 Power Train problem of the 2024 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 09/23/2025

Complete engine failure at 62,000 miles. This has been an ongoing problem with Toyota Tundras with a v6 twin turbo. I was told that the dealership that the 2024 models were not affected by the known manufacturing defect. There’s been a complete recall of the 2022 and the 2023 models. This could be a safety issue if I was driving on the highway and had the engine failure. The dealer confirmed that this is an ongoing issue, and there may be an expansion of the recall.

52 Power Train problem of the 2025 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 09/19/2025

There is an interment issue where the vehicle fails to accelerate from a stop when accelerator is applied. This issue is present in my current vehicle and my previous 2023 Tundra. I have brought up concerns to the dealer and manufacturer and am told every time that the concern cannot be duplicated, but I feel that it is going to lead to a crash not only for me but other owners.

53 Power Train problem of the 2023 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 09/17/2025

Throttle lag. Sometimes when I press on the gas after a stop the truck lags to accelerate which is dangerous and can cause an accident.

54 Power Train problem of the 2025 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 09/16/2025

Making a right turn from a stop. I pressed the accelerator and the vehicle barely moved. Cars were coming in my direction and I had to move. I let off the accelerator quickly pressed the accelerator again. The vehicle did start moving at normal rate. This first attempt was very concerning and almost caused me to get in an accident.

55 Power Train problem of the 2024 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 09/01/2025

There is a severe throttle lag that is random. It has caused near collisions due to the response time. The truck will also randomly jerk forward. I reported it to dealer and they said it was normal and to drive the truck in sport mode. This not a solution and will cause an accident if not resolved soon.

56 Power Train problem of the 2024 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 08/24/2025

There is an occasional lag between when I press the accelerator to when the engine actually revs up. It's usually fairly minor at less than 1 second but today I was making a left turn on a busy road and the lag time was closer to 2-3 seconds and almost caused me to get t boned by two cars coming from my left. It happens from still and from slight rolling. Today I was completely stopped. I hit the gas and all it gave me was enough to roll me into oncoming traffic and then I was stuck in their lanes until it finally kicked in and carried me on through the turn. Apparently this is a known issue with a TSB for 22 and 23 year models. This is extremely dangerous and should warrant a recall before someone gets killed.

57 Power Train problem of the 2024 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 08/20/2025

When coming to a stop and then trying to accelerate to turn into a street I get an abnormal amount of throttle lag. There’s even times it seems to lag and then registers that I am trying to accelerate quickly causing me to “burn out” while I’m turning and no I am not accelerating crazy. There’s been a few close calls where I almost lose control of the vehicle.

58 Power Train problem of the 2025 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 08/09/2025

I’ve notice that when coming to a stop or yield when you press the gas pedal to go or continue driving there’s a lag or delay. This has happened more than 4-5 times since I purchased the truck on December 23, 2024. The last time it happened was last Saturday August 9, 2025. Truck was on sport mode, auto stop/start was off. I’m at a light waiting to make a right turn, when I pressed the gas pedal to go it went forward and felt like I slammed the brakes. I had to take my foot off the gas pedal, brake, then gas it up again to go. It is a little scary because this could cause an accident. I’ve taken my truck to the dealership about this, but they said they can’t do anything about it because they cannot recreate the issue.

59 Power Train problem of the 2022 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 07/11/2025

Lag when pressing on gas pedal may cause an accident.

60 Power Train problem of the 2024 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 07/09/2025

I feel a slight thud when hitting exactly 40mph. This happens in normal, sport, and echo. I can feel the thud from the steering wheel and gas pedal. I think it is a transmission fault since it happens exactly at 40 every time, even on smooth roads.

61 Power Train problem of the 2023 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 07/08/2025

When from a stop vehicle does not accelerate as normal, especially while turning. Lag and hesitation is experienced for a moment and then catches causing a rapid acceleration. When turning across oncoming lanes of traffic the unexpected lag and lack of acceleration considerably increases risk of side collision from cross traffic and risk of rear collision from traffic behind due to inability to know consistent time, speed, and acceleration needed to safely cross lanes of traffic and expected acceleration speed anticipated by vehicles from rear. Concern has been brought up to dealer and properly notified. Dealer was unable to replicate. No dash warnings appeared.

62 Power Train problem of the 2023 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 07/01/2025

I continue to get this message on my dash while driving and no one in front, on side or behind my vehicle: *foreign object speed acceleration reduced. *radio know broke a second time *windows stutter when going up or down while wet *windows rattle *poor acceleration at take off ( very dangerous on the expressway).

63 Power Train problem of the 2023 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 07/01/2025

The truck will hesitate for a brief second while trying to accelerate from both stop and in drive where it'll jolt you forward. This will also happen when shifting into driving and it jolts you forward. This is a huge safety risk because my truck can stall when I need the truck to go. I have brought it up to the dealership which told me multiple times as "normal". No lights has popped up but I know my other cars doesn't stall when giving gas.

64 Power Train problem of the 2024 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 06/18/2025

Whenthe truck is on cruise control and there is a need to pass a vehicle in the freeway; I lightly accelerate push the pedal then there is no response ( the vehicle hesitates for a second or two) ; and suddenly the engine revs up (and jerks the truck) and slams the transmission to start accelerating. I looked up this issue and realized that may be a common issue. This has happened in several occasions since I bought the truck last year, I drive my truck very carefully. I will bring this issue to the attention of the dealer.

65 Power Train problem of the 2024 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 06/11/2025

You step on accelerator and it doesn’t accelerate… it lags and almost caused accident more than 4 times! throttle body won’t open up and go. I feel they need to remap the system.

66 Power Train problem of the 2024 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 05/26/2025

My motor shut off while I was driving. I had to have it towed to the dealership and they diagnosed the problem as a failed. Connection rod bearing. This requires an engine replacement to remedy the situation.

67 Power Train problem of the 2025 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 05/26/2025

There is a lag in my 2025 platinum. I'm able to reproduce it and it's generally when I'm coming to a slow/stop (say a yield or a stop sign) and at the last minute I decide to go for it and hit the gas pretty hard. The delay is incredibly obvious. . Like 2-3 seconds where nothing happens. Trying to roll through a yield and the machine decided it was just not going to respond to throttle for 2-3 seconds. . .

68 Power Train problem of the 2025 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 05/24/2025

Vehicle experiences electronic throttle lag that causes the vehicle to not accelerate when pressing on the accelerator pedal. Then it accelerates excessively and nearly uncontrollably before coming under control.

69 Power Train problem of the 2022 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 05/20/2025

On may 20th, 2025 I was traveling in my 2022 trd pro Tundra 5. 5 hv. I was taking a left turn at a green light, when all of the sudden lights appeared on my dash saying “hybrid system malfunction, visit your dealer”. The car continued to function for approximately 1 minute, until the next light where it turned off. I tried to turn the vehicle back on, but it started to shake when it tried to start. At this point I was stuck at the light with traffic behind me, the engine had failed and the hybrid system had failed as well. I had to call 911 and request an officer to come assist, because I was blocking traffic. The vehicle had to pulled to a lot where I could unhook my boat that was in tow, and tow the truck to the beaver Toyota dealership. After arriving at the dealer and being there for over a week, I have been informed that they will be preforming a short block rebuild, because my truck is not listed in the 2022-2023 Toyota Tundra recall. Even though my truck experienced the same engine failure due to debris in the engine as all the 2022-2023 Tundras. My specific truck was not included in this recall because Toyota says the hybrid system would be able to move my car to a safe position if there was an engine failure. This was in fact not true because my hybrid system malfunction at the moment of the engine failure resulting in me stuck in the middle of the road blocking traffic having to call the police. Toyota needs to include trd pro hybrid owners in the 2022-2024 full block recall or face extensive legal action.

70 Power Train problem of the 2023 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 05/17/2025

My 2023 Toyota Tundra motor just locked up exactly as the events discussed on the recall with the same model. Toyota stated that my truck was not affected yet here we are. Toyota opted to do a short block replacement instead of the long block as they did with the other trucks. I am concerned that I will have similar failure down the line due to residual metal in the turbo lines and or turbos that will cause turbo and or possible engine filatures later down the line. This is a safety issue because it can result in me being stranded if failure occurs aware from home. This needs to be addressed. Also my truck lurges and the gas pedal does not always respond. A serious investigation needs to be launched against Toyota, these issues can result in many americans dying if left un checked!!.
