Airbag light came on, then all electrics to steering wheel failed, including the horn. Clock spring failed. Safety issue with no airbag and no horn. Known that vws have a problem with clock spring failure. Should be a recall.

My clock spring has failed three times now the first few times I had it fixed at the dealership but my warranty is now no longer valid once since I bought it from the dealership and it has failed again saying my airbags deployed and none of my features on my steering wheel work at all not even my paddle shifters and nor does my horn. And this has happened every time all those things have not worked when it is gone faulty.
Clock spring issue in vw Golf’s should re reinvestigated. These are failing on these cars and companies are not looking into fixes or warranty help for these devices that should last. It’s shortsighted for consumers to continue to deal with this issue.
Faulty door wiring harness leading driver side blinkers to stop working, windows randomly rolling down, rear collision detector errors, engine start/stop errors.

First, the airbag warning light came on, then followed by the horn not working and cruise control was lost. I also suspecting the power steering is also gone. This is related to the clock spring failure from my research online. This should have been recall because this is a safety hazard.

The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 22v543000 (air bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

My airbag light came on today as I was backing out of a parking space (7/29/22 and mileage 235845), and this was after plastic creaking/cracking noises coming from my steering wheel for quite a while when I turned it. The frequency and amount of noise when I turned the wheel had increased a lot lately. This is the second time this exact thing has happened - I had to replace the clock spring in the steering wheel once before (3/19/19 at milage 154165). While I know I drive a lot, it’s mostly straight on the interstate since I live in a rural area, so I am not turning the wheel constantly. I’m hesitant about if it’s worth it to spend money on replacing it since the last time it was almost $800, and has now broken again, only 80k miles later. I know that earlier years of vws had this part recalled and I am wondering if that should have extended to 2015s - although I’m not sure what good that would do me since the replacement one I had installed at the dealer also broke.
Shortly after acquiring this car, an airbag light appeared on the dashboard after my sister adjusted the passenger side seat. The airbag indicator showed that it was off afterward, despite my sister being adequate weight to require the airbag. Continued problems ensued when the seat would show that it was occupied (airbag on and seatbelt chime when unbuckled, even though there was no one in the seat). Now this happens sporadically, and it is unknown whether the airbag will be operational or not whenever I start the car. Often, turning the car off then back on will allow for the airbag to show it is on for a passenger. I have seen in other locations online that this is an issue that has affected other people online with this model of car.

Air bag light came on and it was determined that the clock spring failed. This car has only 38,118 miles on the speedometer.
The steering wheel clock spring was replaced on my vehicle as part of a recall in may 2016 by a local vw dealer. Within the last month I've received an "error: airbag" notification on my dash. My mechanic scanned the air bag control module for codes and there was 1 in memory: b1000 igniter for driver's air bag, resistance too large". I understand that the defective air bag clock spring replacement part is unavailable as it has been nationally on back order for the past year, and 7,000 vehicles are waiting for the part. This issue has affected everything controlled through the steering wheel, including my horn, making the otherwise perfectly good car unsafe and perhaps illegal to drive. Both the dealership and vw of american customer care have been unable to offer me an interim solution (at least offering a horn).

Clock spring failure, air bag error, loss of horn and steering wheel button controls such as cruise control.
Clockspring broken it’s the third time in 4 years. I was pulling out of a parking lot making a left turn. There was a ratcheting sound from the steering wheel. I then had an airbag error and none of the steering wheel mounted controls were working including the horn. The defective part is still installed.
Faulty clock spring causing passenger airbag warning and loss of steering wheel controls, horn, volume, cruise….
I was driving to work today play in my steering wheel made a funky crinkling sound and then I had a warning about my airbag and no horn working now after and I didn't hit anything nor was I hit.
We purchased our vw Golf tdi (3vw2a7au6fm047598) in January 2015 and have now had to replace the clock spring three times. The first two times were covered under the 69l2 limited warranty(see attached bills) but our car now has 128,000 miles and is considered ineligible. We do not understand why our model year was not included under the unlimited warranty extension as part of the 69l2 campaign. When a major component fails three times over a six year period, there is obviously something wrong with it that has not been addressed. Our teenage son drives the car and it is unsafe to have life-saving components like the airbag and horn fail on a regular basis.
Steering wheel started clicking when turned. Airbag light came on.
The steering control module and clockspring is faulty. My transmission light and airbag light came on. I brought it to my german auto repair shop and he did some research. It was confirmed as a faulty part and vw should pay for it. My functioning airbags and cruise control are things I rely on for safety. I will bring it in to a dealership because the clockspring has to be programmed by a dealership. I live 300 miles from a vw dealership and it is a real pain.
My vehicle struck a car from behind moving about 35 mph. Air bags did not deploy and I had a proceeding next injury. Why did the airbags not deploy? I have read that "a loss of electrical connection to the driver's frontal air bag will prevent the air bag from deploying in the event of a vehicle crash, increasing the risk of injury" for 2011-2014 Golf. I would like confirmation that this was supposed to happen, no airbag deployment. My car was totaled.
All steering wheel controls inoperative. This includes airbag, horn, cruise control, radio controls, etc.
The clockspring broke about 1 year ago I had it replaced. It broke again last week. The airbag is disabled as is the horn and cruise control.
Sunroof drain reenforcement steel has developed stress cracks. Which has let water leak inside vehicle, onto headliner and down a-pillars saturating front side curtain airbags making them defective. Vehicle can be stationary or operated, it will leak either way. Volkswagen refuses to address issue with airbags and leak saying there is not a safety issue so they wont cover repair which could cost greater than $2,500. Vehicle has also developed black mold between roof and headliner which is hazardous to breath. Technical bulletin #60-17-01(v601701) is the repair instructions for dealership only repair but does not include airbag replace or headliner replacement. I addressed issue with Volkswagen multiple times which they deny any safety issues.
Kept hearing a clicking noise when turning steering wheel. Today when backing into a parking spot, there was a real loud click, almost like a snap, and my air bag error message immediately showed up and none of the buttons on my steering wheel would work anymore.
I don't know what type of airbags they are, I've had to have my clutch replaced, waterpump and thermostat and my heater cores, now my coolant hose has gone out all this in let than 3 months and I have also had to replace, rotors two times in two years it's got to be some wrong I take good care of my car it only have 72686 miles on it.
Air bag clockspring.
The clock spring on my car went bad after 46,000 miles. Makes airbag unuseable and steering column controls do not work either.
The sunroof leaks water from all four counters into the vehicle: headliner, seats, carpet and dashboard. Warning signals/errors messages: air bag, traction, engine light. 2500 miles on vehicle purchased 3/18 new. The vehicle was parked in a driveway during a major rain storm.
I was in a car accident and the airbag didn't go off.

Takata recall- 2015 gti. Turned car on at 5:30 after work and airbag error light came on, no controls in steering wheel working like volume , blue tooth cruise control and horn. Car was bought at 34500 miles exactly one year ago (2017) no horn and no airbag working as of yesterday is a safety issue and dealership said there is no recall on this particular make model year !.
Takata recall a vw dealer service invoice states they completed the recall on this car, but your website says it is incomplete, according to my VIN. Vw of America sent me recall notices in March & April of 2018. Community vw, santa maria, CA 93456 [805 348-3221] invoice date: 12/19/17 customer number: 50792 technician number: 34657 I would like to verify that the work was actually done. Is there an identifying mark, label or number that I can see somewhere on the airbag? thank you, peter glatz.
