My local Volkswagen dealership stated there is a recall on certain vw models for the clock-spring located inside the steering column. My vehicle has been making a terrible noise when I turn the wheel in either direction, which vw attributes to the clock-spring. They told me the 2012 Golf tdi model is not covered under the recall but apparently this clock-spring problem impacts other models. They warned the problem will get worse and eventually impact the steering, airbag, turn signals, horn, and other electrical components inside the steering wheel. They quoted the cost to replace the clock-spring is $890. So my question is can the recall be broadened to include 2012 Golf tdis as well?.

Takata recall. In April 2016 I received a safety recall from Volkswagen regarding the takata airbags. At that time, I called to set-up an appointment and was told that there wasn't a fix for it yet. I've called intermittently over the past year and have received the same response. I called again on may 17th, to ask about the status and received yet the same response. When I mentioned that I know people who have Honda's--who have been affected--whose airbags have been replaced, she said that Honda owners, have died as a result of the airbag deployments, whereas Volkswagen owners haven't. I replied that I interpreted that to mean that Volkswagen are dragging their feet because no one has died, and it'll take a death in order for them to come up with a fix, which of course was denied.
I move my passenger seat back and for no reason the airbag came on, it would not reset.

Takata recall one year has passed since the recall was initiated for the drivers airbag for my vw vehicle and to date my I have not been contacted by vw and there website states NHTSA recall number 16v078 has quote "repair not yet available. " this is both disappointing and worrying since not a single vw affected vehicle appears on your published priority groups list or the "completed so far" list. Despite the fact that I live in texas which is deemed a priority zone a ! I realize this is a big problem to tackle but lack of information and updates only makes people worry an incident could occur rather than instill confidence that a solution is forth coming.

My car has been listed as having defected airbags on the driver side. The Golf tdi, which I have, is also recalled for the emissions scandal. I plan on driving it until 2018, when I have to turn it in. I am guessing vw will try to ignore this recall.

Takata recall - I have called several dealerships in chicago since the recall in 2016 and still no one has the replacement. There could be dangerous consequences for not having this tested and corrected.
Tamara recall. The manufacturer has failed to replace the airbag even though it presents a potential serious safety hazard. I would like an update from the manufacturer regarding the repair and date I can take my vehicle to the dealer. It is has been too long with no fix identified. This is unacceptable.

"takata recall". Several months ago, I received a recall notification for a takata airbag in my vehicle. Since then, I have been unable to determine a schedule for airbag replacement. The NHTSA website references a "schedule" & "priority" for replacement of takata airbags, but my vehicle is not listed. The only schedule information I have found on the NHTSA website indicates that older vehicles in hot & humid conditions are at higher risk. Priority 1 vehicles on the NHTSA list indicate that failure is more likely in priority 1 locations after 6-9 years. My vehicle is more than 6 years old & has spent most of it's life where it was purchased, in virginia beach, virginia within a few miles of corrosive salt water in the atlantic ocean. Several friends, clients & family have refused to ride in my vehicle due to its' airbag recall & proximity to high heat & humidity. I am also concerned about my personal safety. When is my vehicle eligible for airbag repair?.
Takata recall the recall notice went out February 9, 2016. Still no fix available and manufacturer refuses to provide safe alternative transportation. Manufacturer says to keep driving recalled vehicle without any fixes.

I filed a vehicle buyback with Volkswagens vehicle buyback program in February of 2016. I waited and called back and forth trying to find out about my vehicle and if it was going to get bought back. Volkswagen kept telling me my documents were invalid and I had to re-do them each time and send them back and wait longer for a response. On 08/23/2017, they made me reset my claim because they supposedly "filed me in the wrong category". After that, all my documents finally got accepted, and have been "under review" for the past 9 months. They have been reviewing my documents and haven't been moving forward with my case for almost 2 years and my car has been sitting in my driveway waiting to be turned in. I am afraid to drive it because of the possible health effects it might have on me and my surroundings but Volkswagen is being negligent and ignoring my claim, even though it is 100% valid because I have owned my car since 2014. Please look into this claim with care and help me figure this out. It has been a very hard struggle for me and I am just dreading to get this over with.

Takata recall I spoke with vw customer care and they said there is no fix currently available due to a lack of parts. Furthermore, they said they are not providing an alternative to driving my defective car and they will not disable the faulty air bag. So I'm left driving a car that may kill me. I find this unacceptable.
Takata recall. Insignificant unusual sound when turning the steering wheel. It sounds like clicks. This occurs when the car is stationary or while driving.
Takata recall hello NHTSA, I am writing to express a concern that I have regarding my 2011 vw Golf tdi. My concern is that vehicles affected by both the takata recall and the vw "clean diesel" tdi emissions scandal will not be given equal priority by vw throughout the airbag recall and replacement process. Specifically, I worry that the impending buy-back of older tdi diesel models like mine will cause vw to give those airbag replacements a much lower priority in comparison to other vehicles that require a replacement. For example, strictly from a financial standpoint for vw, it is in their best interest to wait as long as possible before commissioning the airbag replacement of my vehicle. I believe this to be true because the tdi buy-back would negate the airbag replacement entirely, as the vehicle would no longer be legal to operate in the us. Furthermore, if the tdi buy-back vehicles are resold in other countries with lesser safety standards, vw may conclude that it is more beneficial for them financially to leave the defective airbags in place, since no legislation would be preventing it. I have expressed my concerns directly with vw, but they are unwilling to share any information regarding the timing of replacement parts or to which order of models the replacements would be distributed. Unfortunately, they are also unwilling to present any other possible solutions for me. I do realize that some of my concerns are speculative in nature. However, given vw's untrustworthy actions of late, and that this directly impacts my family's safety, I feel that I am justified in expressing these concerns to a safety-oriented agency such as the NHTSA. I thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide -- not only for myself, but for the other nearly 500,000 vehicles/families affected by the combination of these two issues. Best regards, cs.
Takata recall - I was in accident on 5/24/16 and the front of my car was all damaged but the airbag did not inflate causing me to hit the steering wheel.
Vw should put customers in loaners until the airbags are safely replaced. It's not right to send someone a notice, stating their airbag may malfunction and kill you without offering a safe means of transportation. We also have a Honda crv and they have provided a loaner until the airbag is replaced.
Yesterday I received a letter from vw saying my car was subject to a recall for a takata airbag issue. The letter said parts are not yet available to make repairs and to do nothing at this time. My neighbor has a Honda crv that was also affected by the recall. They were provided with a rental car and told not to move the Honda until notified to do so. As I understand this is a potentially deadly problem, why am I being instructed to continue driving my car when my neighbor was told not to move theirs under any circumstance? the letter lists "NHTSA 16v078".
I do not feel safe to drive this car due to the airbag recall has no remedy at this time, its been 1. 5 years since the takata airbag fiasco. Air bags are required on all vehicles being sold new or used. This airbag might kill me, the opposite of what it was designed to do. Why hasn't the federal government mandated these vehicles be taken off the road due to it is an unsafe product to operate and there is no fix in sight?.
Takata recall - I received a notice of this recall almost a year ago, and just contacted the dealer and was told there is no projected date for the repair. After reading about this, it seems like something very dangerous to be left unrepaired while driving.

Takata recall/emissions recall - vw hello, my name is danielle camporese and I own a 2013 vw Golf tdi. I am very concerned at the airbag recall because I drive over 150 miles/day just to and from work. On top of that, I also drive young children in my vehicle on a daily basis and I would like to know what my options are until the airbag situation can be resolved. I have had nothing but problems since I bought this car, and as a loyal customer, I am very disappointed. I cannot drive around a car that could potentially kill me due to airbag deployment and I cannot put others who ride in my vehicle at risk. This is an extremely dangerous situation and something must be done. On top of this issue, the emissions recall is still unresolved. I am very upset at all of the issues that I am experiencing with my vehicle and it is unacceptable! please let me know what my options are. Thank you.
Takata recall, it's been 5 months since I got the notice; however, the dealer still has no part to replace the defected part.

Takata recall. The dealer does not have the parts. It has been more than a year now. I need to be able to drive that car without risking my life every day.
Takata recall - official recall is dated February 9, 2016. We still have not received any information about this, including a way to remedy this potentially life-threatening issue.
Takata recall. . . I'm in zone a, texas, and my car has still not been fixed! when and how will I be called up to get these fixed? I'm keeping the car until mid-2018.
Takata recall - received notice over 18 months ago that the passenger airbag needs to be replaced but have not received information that a new airbag is available. What is taking so long? this issue needs to be addressed for the passengers in my car.

I'm a driver who drive this car when I tried to turn left the vehicle has airbag pop up and the car was stopped and hit when im off the freeway.
My son was parking his car at a state park and driving less than 2 miles a hour when the passenger airbags deployed. Several people heard the loud sound and ran over to see if anyone was hurt. His girlfriend's arm became red, with a rash and swollen. The seat and headliner are now damaged, and it would cost more to replace the airbags, seat and headliner than the car is worth. The insurance CO will not cover the cost because there was no accident. Now, he will need to purchase another vehicle. There have been at least 107 reported complaints regarding airbags for 2001-2003 vw Golf and jetta. If my son had been driving on a main road or highway, this incident could have caused an accident. There should be a recall on the airbags before someone gets seriously hurt, if that hasn't already occurred.

Abs control module failure. Lost of abs system, stability control system and air bag system. This happens at 4 years of ownership.
Driving late at night, hit pothole that badly dented right front rim, caused passenger side curtain airbags to deploy, filling car with smoke and cutting off ignition. Contacted vw of America to advise them of incident. Will contact insurance, local vw dealer and collision shop for analysis this week.
