1 Engine problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Golf

Failure Date: 06/05/2011

2010 vw Golf tdi - engine died after accelerating while entering a highway from a parking lot. I had to coast back into the parking lot at a dangerously slow speed. If there had been oncoming traffic it could likely have led to an accident. The car did restart after parking and turning the ignition off and back on. I did not lose power to any of the electronics, only to the engine. The tachometer went to zero and the accelerator was unresponsive. The car currently has approx. 34k miles on it.

3 Engine problem of the 2001 Volkswagen Golf

Failure Date: 06/04/2005

The contact owns a 2001 Volkswagen Golf. While driving approximately 60 mph on normal road conditions, the engine experienced low power, rough idling, and hesitation. The check engine and air bag warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The indicators remained lit until the engine was turned off. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who stated that the failures were related to the coil pack. The vehicle was repaired. On two separate occasions after the repair, the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for identical failures with no resolutions. The vehicle currently is inoperable and has not been repaired for the malfunction. The failure mileage was 90,000 and current mileage was 150,000.

Turn signals stopped working. They do not come on at all. Consumer contacted the manufacturer and there were no recalls. The check light illuminated due to a leaking recirculation valve.

5 Engine problem of the 2000 Volkswagen Golf

Failure Date: 12/12/2003

Our Volkswagen Golf ( cuts out on us when the car is moving. This has been a problem for most of the year. We have taken our car to the Volkswagen dealer at least 7 times so far and the car still cuts out despite many different things being done. Our dealer has told us that they are still not sure why, and after the last visit, they thought they had fixed it. However, I was jst driving on the 1-9 in new jersey at speed and the engine cut out on me. There was no where to pull over and I had to put my warning lights on and let the car come to a stop. I also lost my stearing although thankfully I was in the right lane. Although the volkswagon dealer is trying its best to repair our car and has been in contact with volkswagon for help, this keeps happening. This has just happened again and I am writing while I am still angry. Since collecting the car from the dealer last week we thought the problem may have been solved as the engine didn't cut out all week (before it was nearly everyday), however it has happened again. The thing that is bothering me most and upsetting me is that this recurring unsolved problem is potentially threatening to my husbands and my life- as well as other road users. It is extremely scary when the engine cuts out at speed while other cars are whizzing past you. I also want to know why we have to be wary everytime we collect the car from the dealer, because everytime the problem has not been remedied.

Dealer said that damage was not covered by warranty and owner must contact insurance company to file collision claim. However, no collision ever occurred. Owner lost use of vehicle for five weeks. 9 Engine problem of the 1999 Volkswagen Golf

Failure Date: 03/27/2002

I am concerned that since this engine mount failed, what about the mount on the other side? is there a potential safety issue? are there other Golf owners out there who will potentially be experiencing this same problem? it seems unbelievable to me that an engine mount could fail on this new of a car with this few number of miles. Am I wrong in my assumption? ***dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis****760138.

10 Engine problem of the 2000 Volkswagen Golf

Failure Date: 11/02/2001

Engine oil/filter has been changed twice, orig. Mileage 15500, oil topped off seven times.

11 Engine problem of the 1999 Volkswagen Golf

Failure Date: 10/15/1999

Car went into dip in road, oil pan cracked open without any prior warning lights or notification. Local dealer states engine needs replacement. No parts available anywhere in the us. Oil pan made of porous, pot-metal which appears weakened by air bubbles. Cost estimate exceeds more than half the price of the vehicle. Now have a car that is unusable and we are still paying lease payments. No company should be allowed to sell cars without part availability. Please help.
