1 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2014 Volkswagen Golf

Failure Date: 08/01/2020

I'm having issues with a p0106 code. It continuously comes off and on. I have had the manifold absolute pressure sensor replaced, I have had the intake cleaned and relatable parts. The check engine light will come on at random times, and will just go away on it's own. I have read that multiple people have had to update the ecm which has then fixed the issue. I don't believe this should be an expense to the owner of the vehicle for an update that should have been done in the first place.

2 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2013 Volkswagen Golf

Failure Date: 05/21/2018

The problem started about three months ago when my car had 50k mi. Right after it had been serviced by the dealer. Initially, the yellow engine light would come on occasionally (e. G. On in the morning and then off in the afternoon). Now the yellow engine light is steady on and the engine makes some weird noise when starting. The fault code p2015 (from obd-ii diagnostic set) indicates that there is an intake manifold failure. The intake manifold is making an unusual rattling noise when the engine is running idle and fuel performance has been affected. The car used to run 27. 5 mpg and now it is running about 24 mpg on average. Some of the forums and internet sites that I visited said that this problem occurs so frequently on the 2. 0t tsi engine used on vw gti and Audi a3 between 2009 and 2015 that vw extended the warranty for this part to 120k mi. Or 5 yrs. (whichever comes first). However, when I took my car to the local dealer the mechanic said that, after checking the VIN, this recall/warranty does not apply to my car. People on the internet says otherwise and told me to try another dealer. Unfortunately, there is no other dealer nearby. The local dealer wants $ 1,400. 00 to replace the manifold and clean the injection valve. My car has been serviced only by this dealer. I have the service records of all scheduled maintenance.

4 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Golf

Failure Date: 06/21/2017

Around 40-50,000 miles, the vw Golf gti usually has runner flap actuator/intake manifold failure. This is common on all vw gtis. This failure usually occurs just after the vw warranty expires on the car. Vw has made a 2017 upgrade manifold to fix this problem but they refuse to recall their crappy cars in order to fix this known problem. Owners are getting stuck with a $1000-$2000 repair bill to fix this problem.

5 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Golf

Failure Date: 01/17/2012

Inter-cooler design is defective in that it allows condensation and sludge to build within the charge air intake system which subsequently freezes and thaws with low ambient temperature and it moves further and further within the intake system until the condensate and sludge become drawn into the air intake manifold and becomes discharged into the cylinders causing the engine to hydro-lock and fail. Causing potential for permanent and catastrophic damage upon restart. Currently for this model, the repair is covered under the manufacturer's warranty along with replacement of the charge air inter-cooler system with a redesign. It remains to be seen whether this redesigned system indeed solves the root cause of this problem. However, if the car is beyond the years/miles of the original manufacturer's or extended warranty, vw will not subsidize the repairs to the engine, nor the replacement of the charge air system. . . Even though the problem was directly caused by their design. The owner will be responsible for the large expense of getting the car running again.

6 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Golf

Failure Date: 09/28/2010

Upon making a lane change to merge into a faster moving traffic lane, the vehicle accelerated normally for one second then lost all engine power leaving me in a dangerous position. Upon depressing the clutch, the engine stalled. I was able to restart the engine after which it worked normally. This has happened approximately 20 times since. It usually creates a dangerous situation such as leaving the car without power in an oncoming traffic lane during a left turn or moving too slowly in a merging maneuver. Sometimes the check engine light will also come on and the glow plug warning light starts flashing. Clouds of white smoke always appear at the tail pipe during the power loss. The dealer has replaced a sensor 4 times which makes the warning lights go out, but the engine cutting out problem is never addressed. Vw simply state "cannot reproduce problem" and return the vehicle. The behavior is very dangerous.

Exhaust down pipe sheid outside loose bottom & top need to be "recrimed" (vw 7/24/00) vw dealership told me it's a manafacturers defect but my warranty is void "2 years 24,000 miles" the oxygen sensor/gaskets/flex pipe are all effected to do this problem leading to manifold problems ? the automobile is 3 years old with all original parts. New car with exhaust problems? this part was of poor quality on the manafacturers end I feel this is a defect that should be looked into by vw.

10 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2002 Volkswagen Golf

Intake manifold is clogged on vehicle due to carbon build up from the exhaust valve. Consumer was advised by local dealer that the vehicle wouldn't pass federal emission requirements. The dealership refused to repair under warranty and was willing to charge $380. 00 for the task. Consumer declined due to the high price but was concerned about the environment. Consumer researched the problem online and found other consumers with the same defect.
