Dsg transmission is getting more frequent with the hard shifting/surging both forward and reverse and occurs usually when slowing down and then letting go of the brake upon a green light. Sometimes the car will roll back if on a slight incline when letting go of the brake. Vw dealership says that the dsg is a very "active" transmission and it is normal. I was told this on two separate occasions and going to bring my car in again until the problem is fixed. . .
Vehicle transmission would not engauge needed to turn engine off and back on before it would move check engine light would come on and than off on the day before I took it in for service it happened everytime I stsrted the car that day vehicle is now at dealer and they told me they needed tech support from vw and it would be until next week before any thing was done.
Driving a 2009 Jetta tdi - there seems to be a transmission issue with the car where the car will constantly jerk forward when stopping at a red light or starting acceleration from the light. At times, acceleration or braking on the freeway causes the car to 'shudder'. Also, 3 times in the last 4 months, the car has stalled when trying to accelerate from a red light, and the clutch does not 'grab' the gear soon enough. Stalling requires me to then place the car in park, turn the ignition completely off, and then restart the engine before I can continue driving. Taking the car to the dealership multiple times has not yielded any findings, with the vw dealership telling me that the problems do not exist and they are not able to duplicate any issues, and that all parts of the car are up to specifications. The car is currently under 25000 miles, and was bought brand new from the dealer. Continuous complaints have not gotten any.
I own a 2009 Jetta tdi with a dsg transmission. I feel like I am going to get hit when I start from a stop. The transmission jumps and hesitates. It has been to the dealer with out being fixed. It is terrifying to drive a car that may or my not accelerate which also jumps in and out of gear!.
Car shifts into neutral while driving, engine revs and car will not accelerate. When engine goes to idle, transmission will sometimes engage. Problem started at 4000 miles (now 37000) multiple calls to vw and trips to vw service with zero results. No fault codes,no repair. Last call to vw customer service I was told by the rep. Buy a new transmission and see whether the problem is resolved . This automobile was troublesome from the beginning with hard shifting and slamming into first gear. I also have a 2006 tdi with zero problems.
Please reference NHTSA action # pe09035. My car has had this recall performed and continues to exhibit the behavior on multiple occasions since having the recall performed in November of 2009. The car has been serviced at the dealer numerous times to correct this problem and it still occurs. The dealer performed the recall in November 2009, replaced the affected temperature sensor in March 2010, replaced the brake light switch in may 2010, and replaced the instrument cluster in June 2010. I just got the car back from having the instrument cluster replaced on Friday, June 11, 2010 and the "false neutral" referenced in the NHTSA action # pe09035 occurred again on Sunday, June 13, 2010. The car is currently waiting on a service appointment at the dealer. This is a major safety issue!!.
I was driving my 2009 vw Jetta wolfsburg edition on the interstate at 65mph when suddenly the car loses power and shuts off. I happened to be in the passing lane and luckily was not struck from behind. This same situation has since occurred 10-15 times. My wife and I are hoping a new car will issued to us as we just can't risk the lives of our family. This car shouldn't be on the road anymore. . . . It has been to the dealership 3x with no resolution.
Vehicle shifts into neutral while driving. Vehicle has been recalled for this problem, but vehicle still has problem after recall service has been done. Nhtsa campaign id number 09v333000 is for the recall that was completed on this vehicle in oct. 2009. At vw dealer where vehicle was purchased. On Nov 27, 2009 vehicle shifted into neutral while driving and has done it on 2 other occasions. Have taken vehicle back to dealer on Nov. 29, 2009 and awaiting results of their diagnoses. I am sending this complaint because I believe that this defect is not getting fixed with the original recall, which leaves a very serious safety problem open to owners of these vehicles and others.
Jetta vehicle goes into neutral on it's own (while still in drive position) and then may go back into drive. Many occasion the vehicle has gone in to neutral and back. On one occasion at an intersection it would not return after shifting back and forth. I had to turn of the vehicle and restart it to have the ability to drive. The dealer found the mechatronics unit failed and spent 3+ weeks to repair. The same day I received the vehicle my wife and I experienced similar failures twice. Both these incidents were coming down hill to stop. Approaching the stop the car went into neutral, revved up the engine, and then went back to normal. All in a 3-4 second time frame. Incidents like this have a concern for me on these cars. For one, when stopping these cars downshift to aid in the braking. A sporadic shift into neutral could scare/alarm the driver and cause an accident. I think there is something seriously wrong with these vehicles that requires intervention.
There is a false neutral on the vehicle. The throttle is depressed and there is no response as far as power to the wheels. The engine responds by increasing rpms, but the power is not transferred to the wheels. This is unsafe and unsettling as you are placed in the position of not knowing when it will occur and whether one might be trying to merge or make a left turn and suddenly be without power and subject to being hit.
This is for a 2009 vw Jetta tdi with a dsg transmission. The vehicle has a tremendous lag when pulling away from a stop, it also has a loud clunk and a hard jerk when coming to a stop. The vehicle has also seemed to be in neutral once and was still in drive, it would not move and the vehicle had to be restarted to move again. I have made a service appointment at my local vw dealer.
We recently purchased a 2009 vw Jetta tdi sportwagen which recently left my wife stranded along the highway. The incident took place on Aug. 3, 2009 and the vehicle has just over 4,500 miles on it. My wife was driving at a speed of about 65 mph on i95 north when the car lost power, the engine was running and it seemed like the car just slipped into neutral. My wife put the flashers on and made it to the side of the road on a major interstate -- scary! she then put the car in park, lights were still flashing on the dash, so she then turned it off. She restarted the car and it seemed fine. She pulled back out onto the highway and about a half mile down the road it happened again, she again coasted to the side of the road and called vw. They came and towed the car to the dealership. The car is currently in the dealership waiting to get fixed.
The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. While driving approximately 35 mph on normal road conditions; the transmission exhibited a pulling sensation and began hesitating intermittently. The failures progressed between 0 to 55 mph and the engine surged while maintaining speed. An authorized technician informed the contact that the problem was a manufacturers design without a remedy. The computerized system code was reset to the manufacturer's service code. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized dealer to further diagnose the failure. The contact had concerns of the safety risk involved. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 150 and the current mileage was 6,500.
I was driving home in rush hour after work on a four-lane road, in a heavy rain storm. At mile 1,565, my car lost power, the p r n d s transmission options were blinking, the foot break icon came on, and when I pushed on the gas, my rmps increased, but no power. I was able to safely maneuver the car out of rush hour traffic, pull over on the shoulder, and sat there wondering what just happened. Being that the car was new, I did not know what had happened, there was no service engine soon light come on. I put the car into park, sat there for a bit, and then put it back into drive. About 3 miles later, the transmission options blinked again. Once I arrived home, I called the vw dealers service dept. Where I bought the car and talked with the service manager. He never saw anything like this, told me not to drive it to the dealer (I am 100+ miles from the dealer), to have it towed to them. I am very unsatisfied with vw, Jetta, and my car. I do not feel like my car is safe, reliable, or trustworthy. Now, because of the instances that occurred, I will always be paranoid with my car, worrying if I will be able to safely get to and fro the places I need to be. I recently was on the interstate with an inconsiderate tractor trailer behind me not giving me a reasonable distance between me and his oversized vehicle. I was not able to change lanes for other cars were in the adjacent lane. Fear came over me as I know I would be in a severe accident if the transmission decided to fail again resulting in a loss of power. There would have been no way for the oversized tractor trailer behind me to stop in time without causing an accident because the car I was driving lost power.
I bought a new 2009 vw Jetta tdi sportwagen with the dsg transmission and at 1000 miles exactly, the transmission went into neutral, all the lights blinked on the mfi, and the car coasted to a stop. I put it in park and turned the ignition off. I restarted the car and went on my way. At exactly 1724 miles, this happened again. I took the car into the dealer at 2361 miles and they are reporting that they can find nothing wrong with the transmission.
While driving at highway speeds the automatic transmission in my 2009 Volkswagen Jetta tdi slips into neutral with no warning. The transmission remains in neutral until you lift your foot off the accelerator. Only then will it go back into gear. The has occurred 5 times in the 2. 5 months I've own the car. I took the vehicle to the local vw dealer to explain the problem. The vehicle is there now, hopefully being repaired.
Dsg transmission at slow speeds will suddenly downshift into 1st causing abrupt engine breaking in traffic without warning (<25mph). Trying to accelerating from the slow speed or stop will causing a 1-2 second delay/jerk in traffic (narrowly avoiding being rear-ended in stop-go-traffic).
On multiple occasions, in traffic and not in traffic, I have had my transmission go into a false neutral that would not recover until I re-started the car. Traveling along at 65 mph, the engine suddenly approaches redline, with no warning. The transmission indicator, p r n d s starts to flash, indicating that the transmission is in neutral. Trying to get to the shoulder is a white knuckle ride. I am reporting this here now, as I just found out about this site.
While driving in the fast lane at approximately 75 mph the vehicle began to act as if it were in neutral failing to deliver any power to the wheels. I struggled to get over to the shoulder and was nearly in two accidents and I think I scrubbed one of my rims on the curb, but didn't notice at the time since I was freaked out. I then had to stop and restart the car to get it to drive again. This was the sixth time in about a week that we had the car act as if it were in neutral while driving along. This was the first time that power was not regained shortly after losing power. The frustrating thing is that I had brought the car to the dealer earlier in the week complaining that a similar incident had occurred the previous week where I had lost power to the wheels but that I had regained it after 5-10 seconds. They said they could not do anything because they couldn't reproduce the problem when they test drove the car and that no "errors" showed up in the computer history for the vehicle. They basically said that since there were no bulletins put out by vw they couldn't do anything until the error occurred again. Thankfully I was carrying my video camera in the car and my girlfriend recorded much of the incident. I am emailing the dealer today and we'll see what they have to say now.
2009 Jetta sportwagen with dsg transmission. Car was brand new with 487 miles. The car completely and suddenly lost power in traffic although engine was still running and in drive. Felt like it was in neutral. Pndrs lights on dashboard began blinking. Problem resolved spontaneously only to recur moments later. Was told by vw to have car towed to dealer. This is a potentially life-threatening situation if it occurs in traffic or during a left hand turn.
09 vw tdi sportswagen dsg will randomly shift into neutral. This has occurred at various times varying from being stopped to cruising at highway speeds. The vehicle has been in the shop twice for this problem. During the first visit, the dealer was unable to replicate the problem. The second time, we took a video of the event and showed it to the lead mechanic. The shop has determined a temperature sensor in the transmission is overheating and causing the car to slip into neutral. The part is reportedly on back order and we do not have any estimate as to when the repairs will be completed.
Driving at highway speeds in car, the transmission will go into neutral without warning and the transmission gear range display flashes. The care must be stopped and restarted to allow the transmission to reengage. Diagnosed as a dsg transmission problem causing it to go into "safety mode" in response to a malfunctioning transmission fluid temperature sensor. Dealer working to correct the problem. Problem seems to happen infrequently and very unexpectedly.
This is a problem with the 2009 volkswgen Jetta tdi with dsg transmission. The auto so equipped cannot be driven safely as the car has serious acceleration lags before popping into gear and severe downshifts. There is no way to predict when the next incident will happen only that the acceleration lag has caused numerous near misses at intersections. To date only a scraped wheel while pulling away from a bank drive through.
I have the wolfsburg edition 2. 0t automatic transmission. When the car is accelerating and shifting gears there is a loud rattling sound. I took it to the dealership service dept and they claimed that's a normal sound. I had a passat with the 2. 0t prior to the wolfsburg and it never made this sound. We took another Jetta wolfsburg edition for a drive that was on the sales lot. Unfortunately, it made the same sound. It is absolutely ridiculous because it's a brand new car. It rattles every time the car accelerates and is switching gears. It sounds like something is loose in the engine.
2009 Jetta tdi sportwagon with only 90 total miles on the odo, 3 days off the showroom floor jumped our of gear into neutral on the freeway traveling at 65 mph. The car is in the show (dgs transmission). Car had to be towed to the dealer for repair. Waiting on parts.
The dsg transmission jolts the car when shifting at lower speeds while the shift lever is in s mode. The "mechatronics" control unit has been changed, but the car still jolts. I'm afraid that these jolts put excessive strain on the rest of the drivetrain and can create an unsafe condition.
I own a 2009 vokswagon tdi wagon. Last week while on vacation with my family I experienced several "false neutrals". The vehicle while traveling at various speeds would shift into a neutral gear and the rpm would rev to 3000+ rpnds lights on the mfd would flash and acceleration would cease. This happened while driving on the highway as well as in the city. . . It also happened once while I was stopped at a traffic light.
2009 vw Jetta tdi with dsg transmission appears to shift to neutral under highway conditions resulting in loss of power/acceleration. Requires shifting transmission to another mode, sometimes pulling off to the side. Occurs typically once a day under prolonged driving conditions, but can be completely random. Effect of sudden stop or deceleration in traffic, very unsafe. Problem not corrected, dealer unable to reproduce or find fault. Others with issue have had transmission temp/speed sensors replaced.
