Tl the contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that the electrical system failed and most of the warning indicators on the instrument panel illuminated. In addition, the instrument cluster panel was faulty. The vehicle leaked fuel and the power steering was faulty. The entire electrical system constantly failed. The vehicle was towed to crown Volkswagen of lawrence (3400 iowa st, lawrence, KS 66046, (785) 838-7750) where it was diagnosed that the internal module in the transmission failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 148,376.

2 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2009

Make: Volkswagen model: Jetta sportwagen year: 2009 drivetrain: tdi transmission: dsg issue: while decelerating, and under normal driving conditions, the dsg transmission downshifts into neutral. Detail: the p-r-n-d-s letters on the multifunction display begin to flash. The transmission will not re-engage until the vehicle is brought to a complete stop, shut off, and then restarted while depressing the brake. This transmission failure has occurred on multiple occasions while downshifting from 6th to 5th and while coming to a complete stop.

3 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 03/27/2009

The contact own a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. He stated that he experienced transmission failure while driving 70 mph on the highway. The vehicle went shifted into neutral gear while driving and he was forced to drive to the emergency lane. Warning lights were illuminated on the instrument panel; however, after an hour, the vehicle reset itself. The vehicle was towed to a dealer who refused to diagnose the transmission or repair the failure. The manufacturer advised the dealer not to make any repairs unless they could duplicate the failure. Recall#09v333000, component: power train:automatic transmission is related to the failure; however, the VIN is not a part of the recall. The failure mileage was 11,000 and the current mileage was 15,500.
