36 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 01/02/2018

There was a recall a couple of years ago on my vehicle regarding the clockspring. Every time I made a left turn it would make a loud cracking noise, the sharper the turn the louder the sound. The airbag light appeared, the systems on the steering wheel don't work anymore including the horn. I have called vw to see if they'll fix it, I said it's related to the recall. They said it will cost ~$150 just to do the evaluation.

40 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 11/10/2017

My airbag light came on for no apparent cause. I took it to the dealership and they replaced the clockspring cable and sent me on my way. I was charged over $400 for this. That same afternoon the light came on again and I took it back. After 2 weeks they still have my car and don't know what the problem is. I looked up information on your site and found that other Jettas of my same year had this part under recall. But when I asked the guy at the garage he said my car was not on the recall list. So, I looked on your site again and saw that 2012 Jettas were in fact included but it didn't appear that my specific VIN number was included. How can this be possible? I am having the same trouble with the same part and don't feel I should have paid for this or any further repairs that may be pending. My question to you is, shouldn't my VIN number be included in this recall?.

41 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2008 Volkswagen Jetta

Dealer advised to replace the clockspring and harness due to build up of dust in the steering hub. Cost of repair $678. 74 plus a 3week waitng time for part to arrive at the vw dealer.

Failure Date: 01/10/2017

"takata recall" "water pump" I got many recalls on my Jetta gli 2012 . The last recall I got on the mail was on November ,2016 for the airbag control . After I dropped my car for the recall I picked it up same day . I noticed that the airbag light is on for the first time I haven't had any issues like this before . I returned back to the dealer and informed them , they said you have to leave it and we're sorry we didn't take care of that . I didn't have time to leave it there for one more day . Now they're asking me to pay for it around $992 ! I got all of the voicemail from the dealer they called me to apologize for the airbag light and asked me to come back to fix since it came up after I dropped it for the recall . Also , I have showed the quote for the water leaking to many auto care centers in houston . They told me that this kind of car with 2. 0 engine has a problem with the water pump and they will never get involved whit this car because to many people with the same engine and car model had the same problem several times . My car only got 60k mile on it and never been into and accident it's been less than 5 years now since I purchased the car . I paid 28k dollars cash from the first day just because I trusted in vw. I have contacted vw of America , but they didn't help me with my case and asked me to pay for it . .

Headlights go out and tailights. . . These are 2 seperate issues. But if you google it, they are both common issues. It's been an issue on my car for years, but I didn't realize I could report it.

60 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2004 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 02/02/2016

Over the past few days it has been raining heavily & although it has happened to me once before this time is what worse. My car is leaking from somewhere & its coming on the inside. My carpets are constantly wet, my airbags alongside windshield leak, and the handle where you open the hood of the car is literally a stream of water entering the car during heavy rainfall. The airbag light has come on and the check engine. I was more concerned with the check engine light so I went and got it checked. The code came up as u0155 - which refers to (lost communication with instrument panel cluster (ipc) control module) meaning my entire dashboard needs to be replaced because of this leaking ! I have taken my car on multiple occasions to vw dealership for servicing (never for this problem) and they never once told me anything about cleaning the sunroof drains every two years as maintenance, it is visible to the naked eye that my sunroof is messed up because when I purchased it the lining on the car around the sunroof is drooping and I cannot open the sunroof because of this. I never thought of it as a big deal because I don't use a sunroof but how was I supposed to know there was a leak without anyone telling me that was even possible. I looked up this problem online, that's how I know what's wrong with my car. I refuse to get it "diagnosed" and spend over 200$ on just a diagnosis when I already know what the problem is and they'll end up charging way more to actually fix the problem. This is my first car and I don't know much of anything about cars except keeping up with oil and filter changes, fuel injectors, and changing my tires when the tread is getting low. I have done all of that at each checkpoint since I purchased at 63,000 miles. There is so much condensation inside I can barely see out my windows, I have sit for at least a half hour car on to be able to see & drive.

61 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 01/11/2016

During a trip, the air bag light came on and airbag service message was displayed when I restarted my car after filling up the gas tank. When I brought it to the dealer, they found the code for faulty n9s - airbag exceeded. As I understood it, I had no airbag protection during the time it took to get this fixed. Vw corporate refused to pay for any of this repair, which cost me $913. 58 to replace the airbag in the steering column. Vw claimed that my car VIN was not part of any previously announced airbag safety recalls.

62 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 12/28/2015

I own a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta that was diagnosed by a vw dealership to have the airbag clock spring failure that is identical to your recall campaign number: 15v483000. My airbag light remains on at all times and will not deploy if needed. The Volkswagen dealership has informed me that my VIN and that this vehicle's make and model were not covered by the recall-your campaign states otherwise, please help or advise. Volkswagan.

64 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 09/13/2015

On 9/13/2015 I noticed an air bag light had activated. The vw dealer tells me that a wiring harness, part #1k0971584 has broken. I can drive the vehicle without a steering wheel air bags or get it fixed, my choice. Well this car only has 35500 miles on it. This harness should not have broken. The funny thing is this harness sits under the air bag between the air bag and the steering wheel. I believe vw has/ had a recall for 2010 to 2014 Jetta models for the same thing. There is something going wrong under the steering wheel air bag and vw better find out what the problem is and repair it.

65 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 09/01/2015

The day I received the email from the NHTSA for the clock springs failing on my make and model of vehicle my airbag light came on. At first I didn't think anything of it and then I lost my horn and radio controls on my steering wheel. Since I had just read the investigation that is been initiated I knew that is what it was. It is the only part that powers the steering wheel. The campaign number for that is 15v483000. It still drives just as it always has but I don't have any steering controls and if I were to get in an accident hard enough to deploy air bags my drivers side would not deploy.

The dealer diagnosed that the air bag needed to be rewired. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 155,000.

68 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2008 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 01/01/2015

We have a 2008 Jetta purchased new in December 2007. It currently has 58,000 miles on it. We have had numerous safety issues with it. A crash sensor went out at about 50k. This cost over $500 to fix at the local dealer. Recently the airbag light came on and shows code 01221 which is drivers side airbag. The dealer said the airbag system is probably not functioning with the light on. I'd guess this is another expensive fix. This car has never been in an accident, submerged, or had a spill in it. It seems ridiculous that that these type of issues would be occurring in a vehicle with this type of mileage.

69 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2008 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 01/01/2015

Airbag light came on. Volkswagen indicates that airbags are not functioning. No incident contributed to this.

70 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta
