I was driving home from work on 5/27/15 around sunset and two deer jumped over a barbwire fence at the end of round hay bales. At this time, I was driving approximately 65 mph when I seen them, barely having time to stomp on my brakes. I estimate I hit them going at least 55 to 60 mph and my airbags did not deploy on impact. I am concerned with why they did not deploy especially since my car is possibly totaled. I hit the deer from the middle of my bumper to the driver side of my car, sending the hood into the windshield and smashing the driver side back into the doors. The damages go on and on, thankfully I was wearing my seat belt at the time. But since the accident I have been suffering from multiple injuries that the medications prescribed do not remotely touch the pain: neck pain with numbness that comes and goes to my hands, severe back all the way down to my butt, pelvic pain with numbness to my buttocks, left sided rib pain with shortness of breath especially with to much exertion and pain with deep breathes, left knee/ankle pain and the inability to bear complete weight to knee/ankle along with swelling. Severe pain that shoots down back to pelvic when bending over, inability to cross legs and ankles without causing stabbing pain in pelvic area. As a nurse myself, I personally feel that if the airbags deployed like they were meant to do so I would not have nearly as many issues as I do now. The purpose of airbags are to prevent injuries and since mine did not deploy, I'm suffering severely with constant pain that keeps my from sleeping well(causing fatigue), the inability to stand or sit for a prolonged amount of time, and to stand in certain positions.

The airbag light on my 2006 vw Jetta, with only 57000 miles, came on for no apparent reason. The vehicle has never been in an accident and the air bags have never been deployed. There was a recall on the passenger front airbag a few years ago and I brought the car in at that time to have the car serviced to address that recall. When I brought the vehicle in to the local vw dealer, I was told that my passenger seat side airbag was "defective" and needed to be replaced. I was told that this airbag is located in the same location where the recall work was done. I was told by the local vw dealer that the air bag must be defective, because with such low mileage on the vehicle, there is no excuse that such airbag should be replaced due to "wear and tear. " I was charged $128. 40 by the local vw dealer for the diagnosis and was quoted an additional $724 plus tax for the airbag to be replaced to make the car safe to drive. The local vw dealer told me to contact vw corporate, as I should not have to pay to repair a defective airbag that was already recalled in the past. When I contacted vw corporate, I was told that they will not pay for the repair, as they do not feel that the airbag is defective (even though their own dealership says it is) and that I have to pay for this safety repair out of my own pocket. I did my research, and apparently there are many 2006 Jetta owners who are dealing with the same airbag defect issue. Vw refuses to issue a recall and refuses to pay for the repair. The NHTSA must force vw to replace its faulty airbags at no cost to innocent consumers! I am afraid to drive this vehicle now and will not allow my pregnant wife in the vehicle because I was told by the local vw dealer that there is a strong possibility that none of the airbags will deploy in case of an accident because the airbag light is on and one of the airbags is defective.

I was stopped at a stop sign. While preparing to drive off. I was struck in the back of the car. I lost consciousness momentarily. An ambulance was called. I was put on a stretcher and transported to the hospital for 8 hours. The airbag of the vehicle did not deploy. Some time after the accident I noticed the airbag light was on. Volkswagen inspected the car and determined that the airbag was faulty in the vehicle.

My vw Jettas sensor for the airbag constantly comes on when I start the car telling me that there is a problem with the airbag and it will not deploy. Problem first started back in 2008(bought the car brand new) and when I contacted vw for repair they told me that none others had this issue and they couldn't help me. When I started doing research I've found there are hundreds if not thousands of people saying the same thing about their vw airbag sensor is not working properly and that the airbag won't depoy in a crash.
Air bag indication light came on while driving. Air bags did not deploy. Car was not involved in any type of collision at that time. Air bag light has been on since. Srs code not able to be cleared from memory.
A 1997 Volkswagen Jetta gt, equipped with frontal airbags was in a collision due to the use of aftermarket parts, which included after market ball joints not supplied from the dealer, this part failed after 12. 7km on the highway traveling at 110km/h 65mph, the car steering was very shaky when entering a slight turn on the highway, the front right ball joint had fractured in the hub knuckle and had caused the wheel to collapse, the steering was no longer working because the tires where not on the ground, the car was resting on the rad support and front axle of the car, braking also failed due to the majority of the braking force being on the front wheels that were not making contact with the ground. The car then struck a guard rail 3 times before coming to a complete rest, airbags did not deploy as there was no need due to the angle in which the car struck the rail. Safety belts worked and cars mechanical operation (besides front suspension, and body damage) was still fine. Wheel bearings, brake pads and rotors were all replaced a week previous to crash. Beware non-Volkswagen parts.

I swerved to miss an animal and ran off the road at 55mph and hit a tree head on and the driver airbag never deployed. Spoke to vw customer care and was told that their engineers looked at the photos not the actual car and determined that they functioned properly. I said I thoughtthey were speed rated and was told that ii could hit a wall at 100mph and the airbag might not go off. Are you kidding me!!!.
Even after such a big crash air bag did not deploy. Vehicle was totaled. I am not seriously injured but have severe pain in the neck and shoulders. I am the lucky one that I survived with out any major injuries but too worried about the airbags because lot of peoples out there driving the same model. Please consider this has high priority. I have pictures of the car that I can send in case you need them.

I would like to file a complaint regarding my air bag warning indicator light remaining on due to a faulty air bag. I took my vehicle to the local vw dealership to have it serviced and was told the problem I am having with my air bag light was not included in the recent air bag recall issued by vw. I was told by the technician that my air bag warning light is on because my entire passenger seat airbag including the harness must be replaced in order to be operable. I was also told the airbag system would not work w/o repair. This failure occurred on my vehicle which is 5 years old and has 35,286 miles. It is not covered by vw because the warranty exp'd at 3 yrs/36k miles. My vehicle has far less mileage average than a vehicle newer than it is. This safety equipment failure should not have occurred on a vehicle this new unless there was something wrong with it. I did not do anything to cause this failure to occur. Further, I very seldom ride with others so I see no plausible reason as to why this failure would have occurred in reference to the seat used least in my vehicle. I was quoted a repair price of $900 to have it repaired and I feel vw should be responsible for this amount not me. Three days ago I contacted vw customer care and have been waiting for someone to call me back regarding whether or not vw will pay the cost of this repair. In the meantime, I am without the use of my vehicle as I am scared to drive it in fear that I can get into an accident and the airbags will not deploy.

Airbags failed to deploy, 55 mph frontal impact. Vehicle sustained severe frontal damage and is more than likely totaled . No one was hurt but I think that the airbags should have deployed. I have pictures of vehicle if needed.
We were stopped in the traffic and all of a sudden this truck [2001 chevy] rear ended us at the speed of 45 miles per hour and our car got pushed into the car in front of us. In our car, passenger side air bag cover came out but airbag did not deploy. We bought this car because we had great trust in vw [german cars] in making strong and reliable cars which can save lives which could not be proved in the accident we gotten into. Had the impact been little higher we could have died in the accident. I'm sad to say that our trust in vw has been shattered after the accident.
A light came on the dashboard with the icon of the airbag. I looked it up and found that it was a warning light telling me that the sensors in the seat that detect someone sitting in the seat were faulty and could result in airbags not deploying in the event of an impact. Other owners of vw Jettas from 2007 and years before and after have experienced this. There has been no recall although many owners, including myself, think there should be.

The manufacturer was contacted and advised that the air bags were not to deploy because the sensors were not activated. The failure mileage was 32,000.
The contact owns a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact was traveling 25 mph when the contact crashed into a wall and the air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer to be inspected. The contact was told by the manufacturer that the air bags did not deploy in a frontal crash, only if the vehicle was struck from the side or the rear. The failure and the current mileage was unknown.

I was in 2 accidents I don't remember the dates, but one was in the latter part of 2010 and another was in 2008. In both accidents the air bags failed to deploy, the air bag light never goes off, even before the accidents. I had this light reset about 3 times, the first time was through the dealer and the others where through auto mechanic shop. The dealer wants to charge me $250 to fix the light problem, they say it has something to do with the seat belt buckle. I really think that this has been a safety problem and that there have been many complaints inregard to this matter. Yet the dealer does not want to accept responsibility.
