On Saturday March 25th I was in an accident in my 2017 Jetta. A tahoe last second lane changed into the front end of my Jetta. The impact was at 30mph but no air bags deployed. When starting the car now after the accident there are airbag warnings all over the dash. The air bags failed to deploy properly in an accident.
On my 2019 Volkswagen Jetta I am having the same issue that the recalled Volkswagen atlas SUV's are having. When the car is running I get a air bag error on my dashboard and the air bag turned off light stays on. This also happens when a passenger is seated in the front passenger side seat. It doesn't happen all the time but has about 5 times in the last couple of weeks.

I was in a head on collision where the other person crossed the line and two empty lanes to hit me head on. This was in may 2021. Not one single warning was used by forward collision sensors. No emergency braking was applied. My airbags were not deployed and this man hit me doing at least 35 miles an hour and also I was forward moving even though I was applying my brakes. The car was totaled. Yet not a single warning sound or light or indicator once went off. I also paid extra for the Volkswagen carnet services. Never once did they come over the speaker to ask if I was ok. To tell me I had been in an accident or ask if I needed them to send help. In essence these services failed me completely. I do not understand why I was not included in any of the airbag recalls or settlement information I have heard about. All of the extra features and functions I paid all the extra money to have - every single one failed me when I needed it. This vehicle left me without the protections it promised.
I'm finding the brake pedal to be extremely hard to depress. This happened overnight, as the car was operating normally; now I'm afraid to move it because I can't brake properly at very low speeds.

Fault on anti locking brake (abs), indicated by illumination on dash, esc light on and flashing brake light on. Dealer was notified that issue as listed in safety recall 16v-913 applies to other vehicles not listed on VIN range. This is a huge safety concern and needs to be addressed as others have indicated the same issue exists on their models not covered by VIN recall. Customer service (vw) was called, per dealer direction and customer service at vw does not know how to read the VIN codes or can tell me which VIN code makes the faulty abs module applicable or not applicable to my vehicle.

The contact owns a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The mechanic linked the failure to an electrical failure. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA campaign number: 15v483000 (air bags) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

Vehicle would not shift, obd2 code p037b "stuck in gear 6. " vehicle towed to a auto mechanic that said they spoke with vw dealer and confirmed it was a crack in the transmission and was undriveable. I have contacted vw who have said there are recalls for many transmissions of this Jetta but not for my VIN. I have also had issues with the clock spring (replaced) and an air bag sensor (malfunction light still on) and now the transmission. There are recalls for hybrid Jettas of this year but apparently not for my VIN. It seems like a large coincidence and feels like it should be investigated, especially considering the other issues vw was investigated for at this time of production.

I have a clockspring issue in my 2011 Jetta, which was associated with the Volkswagen recall in 2015. I called vw of America and was told that my VIN was not one of the cars part of that recall, and they would not be able to assist me in fixing this issue. With this problem occurring and being associated with a recent recall, I feel as if Volkswagen should help me in fixing my vehicle as it is a safety issue.
The airbag light indicator is on and the car is 2009 which is more than 10 years old however it is under 120k miles original warranty as it is currently at 97k miles and I have contacted Volkswagen and nothing they could do or helped me. Dealerships want to charge me diagnostic fees which was ridiculous. The dealership scanned the code but did not went further without the additional fee.
2014 Volkswagen Jetta gli. Part number 5k0953569al air bag clock spring failed leaving air bag and horn unusable. Dealerships say this is the most back ordered Volkswagen part. Many wait lists have several thousand people waiting with no end in sight. No one can provide a ship date. These cars cannot legally be on the road and cannot be sold back to a dealership because they won’t pass inspection. This part has been involved in a recall previously with the same issues, but not all affected cars are covered under the recall. I am personally unable to find a solution and my car has been unusable and unsafe. When I realized how normal and not unique my exact situation was, I felt the need to report this problem on behalf of the tens of thousands of people who are without safe vehicles, including myself. I am hoping that the recall can be extended to these other cars desk with the exact same clock spring issues so that we can be provided with solutions that can get our cars back on the road safely. Thank you for your time.
Component failure: airbag light is on, no steering wheel electronic controls work including cruise control. Safety: I'm uncertain if the airbag will deploy in the event of a crash. Dealer confirmed: dealer states the steering wheel clock spring requires replacement, but that it is not a part of the vw recall issued August 2015. Inspected: hiley vw dealership inspected the vehicle warning lamps: airbag light is currently on. Uncertain when it started since I'm the 2nd owner of the vehicle.
While driving yesterday afternoon, the electrical system shut down thrice. Everytime I had to restart the car. When it shuts off it pops up a notification that says “please check the starter system”. Reddit has many complaints regarding the 2019 Jetta shutoff problem while driving. . Read more...
Hit head on by train and air bags did not deploy.
On my recent drive on the 2019 Jetta, I was traveling at a speed of 10-15 miles when all of a sudden the dashboard went blank, including the turn signals, side, and front warning indicators. Though the car continued to be in motion, it was very disturbing to drive without visibility to the dashboard. I had to stop the car in a strip mall and then restart the car at which point the dashboard came on again. This was the second time this happened while the car was in operation. Let me know if other car owners have reported similar issues. I think this is a big safety issue and will get drivers into accidents.
I was in a collision in my 2019 Volkswagen Jetta. Upon impact the airbags deployed, however the airbag that deployed from the steering wheel gave me a severe laceration/burn on my forearm in the shape of the Volkswagen emblem. This is problematic, as the function of airbags is to keep you safe, not to provide additional injury.
Transmission shifts hard and told to this is a common problem with the Jetta hybrids.
While traveling on I-40 in van buren, arkansas, I was involved in a hit-and-run accident. The impact caused significant front-end damage and resulted in physical injuries. The vehicle’s dashboard/electrical system indicated airbag:error, and the police report reflects that airbag deployed yet we have photo evidence that the airbag did not deploy. However, photo evidence clearly shows that no airbags deployed for any occupants. The airbags remained completely intact following the crash. The vehicle is a certified pre-owned 2019 Volkswagen Jetta that was still under warranty at the time. This raises serious safety concerns regarding the accuracy of the airbag deployment system and the failure of the airbags to function during a serious collision. The vehicle is being held for preservation at the CO-part yard.
My car's clock spring has failed. I see that many other vw's including many vw Jettas in the same year of manufacture had a recall for this exact issue but searching by my VIN does not show a recall. I am informed that I am currently about the 1600th (yes, 1600) person waiting for this part on back-order from vw. If needed, I will be happy to provide the information of the auto repair facility that has diagnosed the problem. I think this is quite a lot of circumstantial evidence of a likely product defect that should warrant investigation particularly because failure of this part disables the air bag safety system. This is even more troublesome considering the unknown delivery date of the part due to the backorder.
The contact owned a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated while making a left turn at 5 mph, a motorcycle crashed into the passenger’s side of the vehicle at a high rate of speed. The driver’s side air bags did not deploy; however, the passenger side side-curtain air bags deployed and then deflated. The passenger sustained neck injuries and was taken by ambulance to seek medical attention. The motorcycle rider died on the scene. The emergency services arrived on scene to administer assistance to those injured on scene. The driver also sustained bruises after the radio and window glass struck her chest and was taken for further tests. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed from the scene to a junkyard and deemed totaled by the insurance provider. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 24,600.
Clockspring on my Jetta broke which disabled horn and cruise control functions. The safety issue is the horn. The clockspring should not fail on any car with barely 50k operating miles on it. The unit has not yet been replaced. The dashboard shows an airbag warning light. No prior symptoms.
The clock spring in the steering wheel has failed, causing the air bag and horn (along with the steering wheel-controlled electrical systems) to stop working. This has been confirmed by a local Volkswagen dealership service department. The part is under extended warranty due to a prior recall, but in reality this recall apparently isn’t worth much, as the part has been backordered for several months and won’t be obtainable for up to another 6 months, or more; no actual date has been committed to. The Volkswagen service department also stated they cannot/will not temporarily fix or ameliorate the current failure of basic safety features.
The clock spring in this vehicle has failed in a vehicle that currently has less than 36k miles. There were no warnings or lights prior to failure. The controls on steering wheel and the vehicle’s horn no longer work as a result. When inspected by the local dealership, they also informed us that the airbag may not deploy in the event of an accident. The dealership also told us that the replacement part is backordered and that they could not provide a date that the part would be available. The vehicle feels unsafe to drive since we do not know if the airbag works or not. Vw seems to be in no hurry to provide a fix.
Vw said it is the abs module. It appears they had this same problem in a previous recall. Safety recall 45f2 - abs control module software certain 2009-2010 model year Volkswagen vehicles they said any or all of the of the components represented by the warning lights may not work. With abs, traction control, brake & airbag potentially not working that could harm me & my occupants as well as other drivers on the road the component has not been replaced yet as it has taken 4weeks already for the part to come in. It is scheduled to be replaced 3/28/22 I got a warning with three beeps then warning lights come on & stay on (abs, traction control, brake, airbag, tpms).

The contact owns a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the front passenger’s seat air bag warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who diagnosed that the passenger’s side occupant sensor was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA campaign number: 15v627000 (air bags). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 90,000.
Airbag wiring under front seats deteriorate over time causing an error to the airbag system, disabling the airbags.
