Warning Light On Problems of Volkswagen Jetta - part 2

: the contact stated while driving 45 mph, the vehicle hit a small pothole and both side air bags on the driver side deployed. No warning light was illuminated prior to the deployment. The vehicle was taken to the dealership who kept the vehicle for one month. The dealership informed the contact the manufacturer would send a technician for inspection however, the contact never knew if such inspection ever happened. The 'passenger air bag off' light remains illuminated at all times, with no passenger in the seat. This is not problematic in the daytime but, at night, it is a serious safety hazard because of the distraction of a very bright orange light glaring at the driver. If the system is operating normally, whether it's on or off, there should not be a warning light. Having that bright orange light illuminated all the time, at night, is not safe.

My airbag warning light went on just prior to my 80000 mile service. I informed my vw service dept of this. When I picked up my car I was informed that to repair the problem would cost $800-$900. This is equipment that has no moving is factory installed. This is obviously a manufacturing defect. Is this common? what are my options? do I have any recourse?.

For the last several months while driving the airbag warning light flickers on at various times. Returned to repair shop twice and as told no error codes have been registered by the car. This happens in wet and dry weather all different times. When the car is started the indicator light always does go off. I am the sole driver, original owner, always serviced, no modifications to the car, and never in an accident.

Recurring issue - air bag warning light stays lit after starting. Takes dealership a long time to diagnose and fix. We have lost over 2 weeks of use of the vehicle so far.
