1. Steering began to get difficult to turn as if I had little power steering, especially at lower speeds. Took it vw dealership. Was told it was a small leak in power steering fluid. Was told that the whole steering unit needed to be replaced, $1700. Don't have the money and was told it was drivable but to check the steering fluid frequently.
Car continues to lose power steering fluid. Prior to realization to check it with every gas fill up car became difficult to steer, almost causing a servere accident.

Took vehicle to dealer & was informed by mechanic that rack needed to be replaced due to power steering leaking fluid through it. Also rotors were replaced due to excessive wear. Fuel tank had collapsed & was not accepting any fuel.
Upon starting the vehicle and turning the steering wheel consumer heard a grinding sound. Following that steering failed. Dealership serviced the vehicle on may 12, 2004, and noticed that power steering needed to be replaced. The steering was repaired the following day ,and was back at the dealership may 14, 2004.
