I was driving home from work approx. 30-35 miles per hour and my van died. I lost power steering and brakes. Luckily I wasn't seriously injured. There was no warning. No service engine light. Within a span of less than 2 years ive already replaced the fuel pump, the battery, and the alternator is still new and under warranty. The ignition/power windows fuse constantly needs adjusting so I can roll my window up or down. All the dash lights come on randomly as well. Sometimes the windshield wipers would come on. Never had a vehicle die on me while driving due to manufacturers issues. After reading other consumer complaints about the same issues im very confident its the tipm. Some complain that this costs people $1 000s on a chance that you can get a couple more years out of it. The van wants to turn over and continues cranking when key fob is in ignition but doesn't turn over. I cannot get it to start at all.

The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Routan. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15v194000 (electrical system). The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair as the recall notice was received over a year ago. Volkswagen lee's summit (2225 ne independence Ave, lee's summit, mo 64064, (816) 282-0022) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy; however, an appointment was scheduled to have the vehicle diagnosed. The manufacturer was contacted several times and was unable to confirm when the parts were to become available. While driving various speeds, the vehicle seized and all the warning indicators illuminated. After several hours, the vehicle resumed normal operation when it was restarted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and stated that the alternator needed to be replaced. The alternator was replaced for the second time by the independent mechanic. The failure mileage was approximately 129,631. Parts distribution disconnect.

While driving on a rural two lane highway, without warning dash lights came on, air conditioner changed to heat, dvd player turned off, and when accelerator pressed van accelerated erratically. I pulled over immediately and turned the van off. The van would not turn back on. The diodes in the alternator failed. When looking up information on this problem I found that this same part has been recalled in other vehicles for this same problem but not in the Routan. I was very lucky that I pulled over and was able to stop before my brakes went out. I had two young children in the car with me.

Battery continues to die even after being tested as well as the alternator being tested. Both are tested as working. Slow discharge causes batter to drain. Car will not start and lighting bolt on console illuminates. Now have to carry a jump charger to start vehicle.
I have a Volkswagen Routan 2011 built by Chrysler in a canada factory. This vehicle is shutting off when drive on the freeway. The gears and sreering locks up while driving. The vehicle also has electrical issues the lights turn on and off even when the car is off. After purchasing a new battery and alternator the car in the morning will not start. The battery is dead and drained. With nothing on it intermittently has a dead battery and shuts of after starting the car. When I call the Volkswagen dealer in stockton CA to explain the service guy hung up on my husband and I and stated it's not a recall. We explain that thousands are having the same issue and it's recorded and all over you tube. We are having the same ignition switch issues or possible tipm issues.

My family and I were traveling on our vacation to montreal last Thursday (7/30). During our trip we stopped by lake george for a quick lunch where our car broke down. Now at first, I was hoping we could still get it fixed quickly and drive it up for our week long trip in canada but instead we had to rent a vehicle from the local enterprise and use that vehicle for the entire trip. It turned out car wasn't getting to park properly. Vw told us it's not covered under warranty. Also I was told alternator needed to be replaced. Too many issues and $1700+ later still not fixed.

I began to experience engine shut down and returned the vehicle to xxxx on 10/17/14. Xxxx was unable to find or remedy the problem. They told me to take the vehicle to the dealer as the problems that I experienced were the reason for a recall. I contacted xxxx Volkswagen. Xxx Volkswagen technicians drove my car intermittently over a four day period, their technicians were unable to verify my concern. A corporate technician reviewed my case and car. The corporate technician's remedy was to install a tie to assist with the retention of the transmission connector. A service advisor called to inform me that the issue was resolved and I could pick up my vehicle. I have experienced engine shut down on at least five occasions while driving the vehicle. The vehicle is the primary transportation for my two young daughters. I believe this vehicle is a hazard and another engine shut off could result in an accident that injuries my family and/or others. The previous owner experienced engine shut down as well. The previous owner replaced the battery, alternator, antilock braking unit, air conditioning unit and dash lights late summer 2014 before selling/trading the vehicle. All of these replacements occurred after the win module was replaced. The car continues to experience engine shut off.
Van on multiple occasions will not start. When you turn the key you just get a click. . . This has been going on for 5 months (the whole time I have had this van) some days you try to start it, it wont start. Then you try again and it may start. Yesterday the van had to be trailered to a dealership. . . Because yet again it will not start. Not the battery or alternator. We beleive it is a faulty ignition switch.
The contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Routan. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning.
