36 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan

Failure Date: 03/27/2018

One day I was driving and heard this clicking noise in my steering wheel whenever I turned. It progressively got worse throughout the day and about 4 hours later from when I initially heard it, my airbag light came on. I called my dealership and they told me it was my clock spring and that there was a recall for this a few years ago however my VIN was not one that was noted under that recall. I have no power to my steering wheel touch controls and my horn does not work which has been very scary as I have no way to alert those around me when they swerve into my lane-which has happened multiple times.

39 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2014 Volkswagen Tiguan

Failure Date: 02/05/2018

Although vw has had recalls in multiple of its 2010-2014 vehicles with the exact same issue I'm having currently there is no recall on my 2014 Volkswagen Tiguan. I was parallel parking and I turned my wheel one way and heard a "tick-tick-tick" sound in the steering wheel column. When I turned the wheel the opposite way to finish parking it did not tick. After that I had no power in my steering wheel controls, alongside the airbag light turning on notifying me they were no longer working and my horn does not work when attempting to use while driving or inside the car. When outside the car and I hit the lock button the horn works notifying me it has been locked. I was nearly rammed into after another car tried merging into my lane and I wasn't able to honk my horn as warning to them. Considering the recent recalls from Volkswagen I don't believe this issue is something I should have to pay for when it is the exact same problem for which the current recalls have been issued.

40 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2014 Volkswagen Tiguan

Failure Date: 02/04/2018

Airbag light came on, being a vw dealer technician, scanned vehicle found faults for drivers airbag igniter above permissible limit, also noticed crunching noise when turning, uploaded my VIN to vw's online portal found no open recalls, while searching technical bulletins found recall 69l7 pertaining to my exact problem, all the faults and symptoms stated in the recall instructions were my exact problems. First I called vw customer care and there was nothing they can d because my VIN was not part of the recall, as working for a dealership I attempted to have it warrantied goodwill, I had a repair order made, and I diagnosed it to being a faulty clock spring. After log was uploaded to vw, my warranty administrator told me that the claim had been denied. This is a safety issue and the part to fix the vehicle is 300 dollars with me repairing it. My girlfriend drives the vehicle daily and has a 3 year old child. I will not let her drive the vehicle because the entire airbag system is off as well as not having a horn, this is a serious safety concern and vw refuses to claim responsibility and to warranty the repair when the issue is known in other vehicles.

41 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan

Failure Date: 01/18/2018

In 2015 there was a recall for clock springs in the 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan which I own and other of their vehicles. My previous owner got it replaced then and I bought the car in 2016. I heard a clicking noise and then my airbag light came on and the controls on the steering wheels stopped working and my horn stopped working also. Being that my car has $46000 miles and I have extended 100,000 mile warranty. . . I went to vw to complain as clearly this recall didn't do anything because it hasn't been even that long for it to be breaking again. They denied to cover it because it had been fixed previously when the recall happened. This clearly is an issue that wasn't resolved with the recall as I googled what this was when I first heard the noise and there are sooooo many people complaining of the same issue after it was fixed the first time around. This is a $500 job that I'm going to have to pay now and it's frustrating because I truly feel this is a defect in the car and should be covered.

43 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2012 Volkswagen Tiguan

Failure Date: 12/01/2017

I heard a loud clicking sound when turning my steering wheel and since then my airbag light has been on and my horn does not work on my vehicle. I saw the recall for the clock wheel spring in 2015 and they claim it has been fixed, but I have since seen further investigation as to whether or not vw actually fixed the problem. My car was stationary and I was attempting to turn out of a parking spot when this happened. I still hear clicking noises in the steering wheel sometimes when I turn.

45 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan

Failure Date: 11/25/2017

My vehicle only has 42000 miles on it. 6000 miles over warranty. As I was turning I heard a rattling and the airbag light came on, horn doesn't work and steering wheel buttons do not work. Dealership said it's the steering wheel clock spring in the steering wheel. Same issue as 2010-2014 recalls. The part is defected and dealership refuses to pay for it. If I wreck the airbag will not work.

46 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan

Failure Date: 09/29/2017

Not sure if this involves the takata recall or not. While was executing a righthand turn on a city street, I heard a snap/click from inside the steering wheel. Immediately, the airbag light turned on and I discovered the next day that the horn and steering wheel controls had stopped functioning. After doing some research, I discovered that 2013 Tiguans were included in the steering wheel clock spring recall in 2015, so I checked to see if my car's VIN was included. It wasn't, so I reached out to vw customer care and told them that my car was exhibiting the same issues that were outlined in the recall notice. They initially told me that my vehicle wasn't included because it didn't receive the faulty factory parts, then later changed their story to say that my vehicle already had been repaired in response to the recall. When I explained that the repair hadn't prevented the safety hazards, they told me that the recall repair is out of warranty so I would need to pay for the repair myself.

48 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan

Failure Date: 08/16/2017

Vw has recognized a defected part in the steering wheel clock spring. We took our vehicle to have the repair, dealership said that the previous owner had the vehicle repaired and a dust cover was put on 7/20/16. Well the dust cover has broke and the air bag light is on and horn is not working. Service department said it wasn't covered because of previous fix, mind you they said dust cover and not a new part. We called vw and they will not honor the repair for the defected part. The part was never replaced, just a band aid put on the problem. Vw said they only had to honor their repair for 1 year. How is this possible when they never really replaced the part????? the dust cover they previously put on snapped when I was turning into a parking spot, airbag light immediately came on. The part cost $348. 08 and $170. 00 in labor.

49 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan

Failure Date: 08/09/2017

Our Volkswagen Tiguan 2013 was recalled last year for a faulty airbag clock spring which, if it went out, caused a loss of the drivers front airbag and also use of the horn. Our airbag and horn fully went out at that time, and we took the car in and had the clock spring replaced under the recall. Now, just more than a year later, the exact same thing has happened -- the airbag light has come on indicating that the airbags are out, the horn does not work nor do any of the electric controls on the steering wheel. We called our local vw dealer in stamford CT about this-- they have said they will charge us for a diagnostic and the repair since the car is currently not recalled, even though this is the exact same problem that was addressed under the recall last year. In addition, the first available appointment they are offering us is 30 Aug -- two and a half weeks from today. They have said we could also bring the car in now, but that it will take them a week or more to get to it.

Shortly after that happened, I turned into a parking spot and I felt a slight tension at the wheel and then a pop and my airbag light came on. We took it in to the dealership and were notified that the air back clock spring had failed and that it would have to be replaced. When I searched the NHTSA site, I found that there is a recall for 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan's for this specific item but that my VIN number is not one of the vehicles listed in the recall. So now I'm facing an $800. 00 repair bill for an item that's already been identified for a recall, but my VIN number does not match.

66 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan

Failure Date: 03/19/2016

While making a normal-radius left-hand turn into a parking spot, the steering wheel made a soft popping sound. Immediately, the airbag indicator illuminated, along with a message indicating that the driver airbag was not functional. Further inspection found that the driver airbag, driver steering wheel controls, and horn were non-functional. The vw dealership indicated that steering wheel clock spring had torn, and was therefore replaced. A recall (15v483000) was issued in Aug 2015 for vw Tiguan 2013s, but this VIN was not included in the recall. When contacting vw's customer service team, they indicated that this VIN was intentionally not included in the recall, however evidence indicates otherwise. This VIN, and likely others with the same trim, should be included in a new recall for the same, as the problem extends beyond the vins in the original recall, 15v483000.

Failure Date: 03/02/2016

My car had two recalls and I brought it in as vw of America recommended and I did have oil change at the same time on 2/19/2016. I went on vacation and when I came back I notice the vehicle drove rougher then before this service. On Wednesday 03/02/2016, I was on the freeway and notice my car lost brake function, I try using emergency brake and try down shift nothing work. I feel bless that I manage to avoid two car accident and it would of been my fault. I manage to hit the curb to stop the vehicle. I shift my car to park and shut the engine right away. Lots of icons indicator was on (airbag, abs, engine. . . ) and I took a video of the dash. I then call my insurance had it towed back to the dealer service. Next morning I was told that it's going to cost me $3k+ to fix all the stuff they telling me the found and claim it has nothing to do with the recalls or oil changed they did, prior to service I had no problem with my vehicle. I have contacted vw America they said they would look into it and have called them a few time now and nothing word on what they going to do about it. I don't feel safe to get back in my vehicle and also not sure they ensure my vehicle is safe to operate plus they asking for $3k+ to address something clearing defective.
