Engine air filter and housing are wet, this is an ongoing event. I remedy it buy buying a new filter, drying out the housing and replacing the wet filter. I am afraid at some point the water will enter the engine causing damage and perhaps an accident if the car stalls.

Engine air intake design is susceptible to flooding with water. A large amount of water will collect in the intake tube behind the front grill. The drain installed in the intake tube is not sufficient enough for high volumes of water in a short period of time, such as in a thunderstorm. The drain also clogs easily with dirt and debris. The water then migrates into the air filter box, where it can be sucked into the engine. This issue has been identified by several people worldwide. This occurs when the vehicle is parked and/or driving through heavy rain regardless of location. . Read more...

After vw emission repair the car stalls in shifting gears at low speed. I took at the dealership repair shop 3 times everytime the kept the car for about 2-3 weeks and couldn't resolve the issue. It appears like there is no fuel coming to the engine or the car computer do not allow the car to shift to the next gear until it hits 3000 rpm in speeds lower the 35mph. From what I understand with speaking with vw dealer advisors that this as a result of the emission repair and they can't fix it. This made the car undrivable since it's keep staling and you can't drive in the city without the jerking feeling from the engine. Vw customer care representative kept changing their version. At first, they said the cars computer will learn my driving pattern and will adjust. Then when I spoke with a supervisor they claimed this is how the car should drive after the emission repair. When speaking with the service advisor at stholman vw he told me he ha a customer with the same car in for 3 months and they couldn't fix that issue.

While traveling approximately 55 mph on a highway the vehicle suddenly lost power/turned off. There were no warning lights, no noises, no vibrations, no signs of anything. Vehicle stalled at freeway speed and it had to be towed to vw dealer where I was informed that the high pressure fuel pump (hpfp) had failed. There was no sign of mis-fueling (no gas in tank when tested), contaminants are unknown. It seems that the hpfp is not designed to perform within the tolerances necessary to operate safely and reliably on 'pump fuel' available to consumers; it is mechanically defective and clear and present danger to highway safety. Request engineering analysis.

: the contact stated that the vehicle stalled completely while driving at 5 mph, and the starter motor would not engage when the key was turned to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a service dealer where the dealer was unable to determine the problem.
When pulling out into traffic from a stop vehicle intermitently hesitates for a few seconds. It seems as though the engine is not responding to the electronic throttle or the transmission is slipping. This is a dangerous problem when pulling inot traffic from a side street or making aleft turn into oncoming traffic. I was almost rea-ended the other day. I also feel that if I make a left turn into ongoing traffic with a normal margin of safety, the vehicle could hestitate and I could be hit head-on or broadsided. It is a dangerous problem. I have returned the vehicle to the dealer twice. The first time they said they loaded in new ecu firmware and new tcu firmware. It didn't fix the problem. I returned the vehicle to the same dealer and they indicated that the volkswagon factory engineers are working on a new firmware release and should have it out the first part of December 2004. They said they would call me to install the new firmware when available.
When trying to accelerate on occasion the car will stall and the accelerator will not produce any action. I was in an intersection trying to merge into traffic and got into the intersection and tried to accelerate and could not. Very scary. The car has done it repeatedly under less threatening circumstances.
While driving at highway speeds vehicle stalled, forcing the consumer to pull off the road. Consumer took the vehicle to the dealership to be inspected, and mechanic could not duplicate the problem.
