The catalytic converter completely separated from its own flange where it connects to the exhaust header. Ultimately causing an exhaust leak and a check engine light. This occurred while driving and under normal operating conditions. Driving on a local highway with a speed limit of 55 mph, which does not have excessive amount of pot holes) .

When driving the check engine light came on. At the service center at the dealer, the dealer indicated that the air filter had become wet with water. While reading a vw forum I became aware of a known problem with the air filter housing drain becoming clogged and the air filter becoming wet and water being ingested into the engine, hydrolocking the engine and requiring the installation of a new engine. The service only required replacement of the maf sensor. Even though my vehicle has only been owned for less than 8 months is under warranty, I have to pay for repairs (~$650). I am now hesitant to drive the vehicle at all. As this has been a known problem for a number of years with this vehicle I am surprised that there is no recall in place.

Check engine light came on at 70,000 miles and was due to the ad blue tank heater.
I have just over 50,000 miles on my Touareg tdi and the check engine light came on. Dealership tells me the adblue heater needs to be replaced and it is not covered under the 80k emissions warranty and will cost me $1,200 to repair. How can this not be covered when adblue's sole purpose is to remove no2 for emissions? now I am faced with an excessive repair for a vehicle that doesn't even meet emissions anyway! owners of tdi 3. 0 liters, such as myself, still have no idea what the fate of our vehicles will be since the vw diesel scandal broke over a year ago. No idea if there will be a fix or a buyback. I am stuck with a car that is not only leaking harmful no2 into the air, but has significantly diminished in value. And now I need to invest another $1,200?!??! I called vw and they are not willing to offer any financial compensation for this repair, nor is the dealership willing to provide a goodwill repair. And I'm told if I don't repair it, after a certain number of miles the car won't start. So, I'm having to invest in a part for the emissions system and it still won't be epa-compliant. That just doesn't seem right.

While driving after refilling the diesel exhaust fluid with peak brand iso 22241-1 compliant def the no start in 450 mile warning came on. Take it in for service and the vw dealership replaces the pump, heater, and controller. But they failed at flushing out the lines and injector for within 50 miles of being picked up the warning for no restart was back on and a check engine light also now.

My 2012 tdi lux just went in for a check engine light and the diagnosis was the adblue heater has gone bad. I had 55,000 miles at the time. I was informed by the dealership that this part is not covered under the powertrain or emissions warranties. I was informed that this fix would be around $700 with labor. It is very surprising that even though this piece is necessary to the car meet emissions that it's not covered by the emissions warranty and that further driving the vehicle would cause the whole system to fail which would render the car in-driveable.
