1 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2011 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 01/04/2021

On my 2011 vw Touareg tdi there is an exhaust leak. Can be smelled within seconds of starting it. A turbo/egr pipe cracks and the result is a serious exhaust leak under hood right next to where air is drawn into the cabin for hvac. Parts are backordered with no eta. Even though when driving there is exhaust getting into the car the dealer and vw corporate just says "sorry for the delay of the parts". This part failure seems to be a known issue- the vw dealer was told by corporate that installing a used part is not acceptable either. Currently been waiting 11 months on this part. The leak was noticed right after vw had to "fix" all the tdis for the emissions scandal.

2 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2015 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 08/27/2018

Large amount of water entering the intake, affecting the peformance of the vehicle. The water is insufficiently draining from the intake box. The air filter degrades as a result. May lead to possible hydrolocking of the engine. There are active recalls for this issue for this vehicle model in china and germany. The issue appears after driving or parking the vehicle in the rain. Possible culprit is the redesigned headlamps draining the water right into the intake opening in the front.

3 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2004 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 07/01/2015

Airbag warning light comes on after changing battery. Local mechanics can't turn it off. Dealer wants large amount to "diagnose" the problem. Several other owners have the same issue with the seatbag warning system coming on randomly. . . Very dangerous. . . And vw knows about the problem. Has been happening for years. The other issue is with the engine. . . The 2004 Touareg engine blew at less than 50k. . . Dealer said we must have driven the car when it was hot. Just nonsense. Several others have had major problems with the Touaregs. . Engine problems and the transmissions/engines surge on slowing down or even speeding up. Tons of problems with the vehicle line and vw America and germany will not do anything about. The engine blew when it was about 100 degrees outside. . We always service our vehicles regularly.

4 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Touareg

Failure Date: 01/22/2014

On Wednesday January 22, 2014 I was driving west on us route 9 in barrington nh at approximately 11am in my Volkswagen Touareg 2010 tdi. There was nothing unusual about the performance of the car before I felt a strange lag and then a warning light started flashing to stop the car. Before I could pull off the road the car lost power and died. Since the warning to stop the car came up I did not try to restart the car. I sat on the side of the road bewildered for a moment as i¿d only purchased this car 3 weeks before and it was only a few miles short of 30,000 miles on the odometer. Being stranded partially in the middle of the road was terrifying as I was in a 50mph zone and people were flying past me upwards of 60mph while my car was barely straddling the white line. Also, it was 8 degrees outside and there was no place for me to wait safely outside of the car due to considerable frozen snow banks flanking the roadway. My options were to pray not to get hit or risk freezing while waiting for a tow truck. Overall this was a terrifying experience to have in a new car who¿s supposed toughness and reliability was one of its selling points. The dealer (quirk vw in manchester, nh) has told us that the fuel was contaminated leading to a hpfp failure which my husband says this same vehicle has had replaced less than 8,000 miles ago under the previous owner. He also said that I should mention that this is the same hpfp made by bosch as the golf, jetta and a3 which has been investigated under ea11003 for failure.
