Car Stall Problems of Volvo S60 - part 2

2004 Volvo S60 2. 5 turbo: no warning to the events. On numerous occasions, the car feels as if it has hit a large object, temporarily lurches and appears to momentarily stall creating a temporary loss of vehicle control. This is followed by an immediate loss of all instrument gauges, air conditioner, window controls and door locks. The fan did continue to work. The abs warning light also indicated as well as a warning that no brakes function existed. The srs service air bag urgent indication is illuminated. On turning the car off and restarting, the functions of the car return with exception that the srs service air bag urgent indication remains. This problem can take months to repeat or only a matter of minutes. It seems to be more prevalent in hot weather. The vehicle was taken to the service shop at the Volvo dealer and they could only clear alarms as they said the event created too many alarms/fault codes to troubleshoot. They downloaded new software revisions to each control module in the car. After a period of approximately a month, the events began occurring again. The vehicle has been taken to non oem mechanics as well and they are not able to troubleshoot the fault. The vehicle is scheduled to be taken to the dealers service shop again. Searching the internet chat rooms and blogs, as well as this site, there appears to be numerous other vehicles with this same safety fault that stalls vehicles in traffic and creates very sudden and severe lurches in power ultimately leading to a momentary stall out with loss of all instrument indications to include speed, rpm, turn indicator, etc.

I have a 2003 Volvo s 60 that has begun stalling out while driving. I believe that this is similar to other car problems that have been reported recently. The car dies after it has reached operating temperatures. It just stops on the interstate or at a stop light, in intersections, etc. It takes between 10 and 30 seconds before it can be restarted. My concern is that this could be an recurring unreported problem with this vehicle.

The contact owns a 2003 Volvo S60. While driving low speeds, the vehicle would accelerate abnormally. The contact experienced difficulty accelerating as if the vehicle were in limp mode. In addition, the vehicle stalls without warning. She took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that they could not duplicate the failure and provide a remedy. The 2003 S60 was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 06v441000 (vehicle speed control). The failure mileage was 40,000 and current mileage was 74,000.

I own a 2003 Volvo S60, 4 dr sedan, purchased from don beyer Volvo in falls church, va, serviced at don beyer Volvo in dulles, va. The car has suddenly stalled in the middle of an intersection twice in the last 2 weeks but would re-start almost immediately. Last night, it stalled going 70 mph on a major highway with no warning whatsoever. I lost all power immediately and had to maneuver over lanes of traffic to pull over without power steering. Very dangerous situation. Towed to the dealership where they replaced the fuel pressure regulator and said they've had no other complaints of this sort. However, just tonight I saw a news report on channel 8 news in wash DC stating that Volvo is being investigated for claims of this exact type. Did not see any mention of the S60 model so thought I would report my incident to be included in the investigation.

Consumer stated 2001 Volvo s 60 was having a problem with the unit that regulated the air flow into the brakes and engine. The car was making a hissing sound, like air being let into the cabin. This was happening a lot, especially in the heat. The brakes had to be depressed to get the car to stop. Consumer had the car fixed last week at the dealership; the mechanic informed consumer that the air pump to the brakes had to be replaced. This vehicle was not stalling,or losing power, nor were there near misses. Consume r was just responding to this because of what she saw on the news. The warranty expired. Repairs were done at consumer's expense.

I have had many problems with the transmission, car will stall in traffic, car would not start at all. This car has been in service many many times. The problems persist. I have sent 9 emails to their head quarters since 12/5, no reply.

Vehicle stalled while driving at any speed, dealer has inspected 3 times and could not duplicate or correct the problem. Please provide further information.

On 2 occasions, while driving, the vehicle suddenly stalled, the dealer replaced a sensor, however the problem recurred.
