The vehicle was taken in to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the failure to be the evaporative emission system leak detection pump which would need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact owns a 2002 Volvo S60. The vehicle unnecessarily goes into uneven engine idling when driving between 10-30 mph. The failure prevents the brakes from working properly. When depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle would continue to roll instead of stopping. When the contact took the vehicle to the dealer, they replaced the throttle, installed a new ecm, and replaced the mass air flow pipe. The current mileage was 63,600 and failure mileage was 59,554. I proceeded to pass a vehicle and lost power could only drive at approx. 35m. P. H. I then had to brake and return behind and to the side of the road. I took it in for repair and was told it was a software error.
