The contact owns a 2008 Volvo S80. The contact noticed that the engine cooling system warning indicator illuminated and the air conditioning performance reduced while at a traffic light. The failure occurred multiple times. The contact also stated that the vehicle would not start when the key was inserted into the ignition. When the vehicle was taken to the dealer for an oil and filter change, the mechanic replaced the fan control module according to NHTSA campaign number: 09v218000 (engine and engine cooling). The contact was unaware of this recall prior to the repair being performed. The failures recurred and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

2001 Volvo S80. The vehicle shut down/stalled. This happened three times. Each time the consumer stated that the vehicle just stalled. Stalling occurred on 10-18-04, 5-30-05, and 7-1-05. Consumer was driving d when the vehicle stalled. . The first time she took it to the dealer they replaced a part, consumer was unsure of what it was. The second time the dealership had to replace another part. Again the consumer was unsure of the name, and the third time the vehicle stalled, and by the time it was taken to the dealership it had started again. The steering and the brakes were still usable. Dealer was still unable to find the cause of the problem, and currently vehicle is still at the dealer.

Car lost all power, shut down during driving, alarm service came on. Car has been repaired twice April 18, April 23 to April 27. Not clear if car is safe to drive.
Vehicle is suffering from repeated or unexpected shutdowns of the ignition and electrical system causing the car to become inoperable at the most inopportune times. (attorney richard davis on behalf of client).
Vehicle shuts down while driving and engine check light illuminates. Volvo has been contacted.
