Was driving in stop & go traffic and the check engine light went on. Approx 50 miles later while driving at 55mph the check engine light started flashing and the engine started running very roughly. Pulled off road and had car towed to dealership. Dealership identified that the ignition coil had water on it which shorted it out. Short also required replacement of one computer in the car. Water was from blocked hose from area directly under windshield which had been blocked by debris. Dealer advised that they had same problem come in a few weeks earlier. In that case, the ignition coil had burned into the engine head, requiring a replacement engine.
The contact owns a 2002 Acura Tl. The vehicle was purchased without a warranty on February 25, 2009. While driving 40 mph on the highway, the vehicle began shaking and then stalled. The vehicle lost power and shut off. During the shaking, the check engine light blinked on the instrument panel. The shaking occurred when accelerating. The vehicle was towed to a mechanic because it was unable to be driven or restarted. The mechanic stated that the cylinders were misfiring or either the engine or transmission failed. The vehicle is still unable to be driven. The current and failure mileages were 110,000.

I was driving on the highway doing about 65mph and my vehicle just went into a complete stop and it will not exceed 50mph immediately my check engine light came on and when I brought it to the dealer they reported that the throttle was loose and that there is nothing else wrong and that is when they informed me that the engine that my vehicle has is not the vehicles original which I was not very happy about because I should have been told this before I bought the vehicle. Not to mention the fact that I could have got into a serious accident when this incident occurred.
Various problems with the 2001 Acura Tl. Bought used and has been in shop 6 or 7 times in less than one year. Brakes, transmission replacement, master cylinder. Brakes continue to seemingly have a problem. . . You have to almost go to the floor to stop, but dealership says this is normal on this type of vehicle. True or not-I don't know. Also, the check engine light keeps coming on, also the abs and tc lights keep coming on. Also, it does not make sense that my car now has 50,000 miles on it when I hardly go anywhere. It seems the odometer is very inaccurate. There is no way I have put 30,000 miles on this car since April of 2003. Could not find any other information concerning the odometer issue, but was told by a mechanic that it's possible their could be a speed sensor issue in the transmission, which would also cause the check engine light to come on.

I purchased my Tl brand new in 2000. Since then I have it in the repair shop 7 times for the samething. Below is a summary of each attempted repair:
â·the 1st attempt to repair check engine light (Nov 9 2000) three months after I bought the car brand new, the coil and fuel injector was checked. A short was found in the wirehook (false code). ·the 2nd attempt to repair check engine light (Dec 13 2000) was a code p0305 #5 cylinder miss fire and they replaced 5 injector with 4 injector
â·the third attempt to repair check engine light (Dec 5 2001) was the replacement of a linear solenoid, gasket and o-ring. ·the fourth attempt to repair check engine light (Nov 14 2002) injector #4 was miss firing. Fuel cleaning and erg valve replacement. Cleared all codes and light went off until I drove it home and the light came back on. ·the fifth attempt to repair check engine light (Nov 27, 2002) found recurring codes p-304 and p-306. Repaired all ignition coils and spark plugs. Updated injector harness "buss" connectors. ·the sixth attempt (July 28, 2003) to repair check engine light and srs light. Check engine light cause #p304 misfire. Srs light found faulty opds unit. Electrical related. Ordered and replaced new unit. The seventh attempt was another mis-fire on #4 and 5 cylinders. I had filed a better business burea claim (between 6th and 7th attempt) and just so happened the district mgr found out about my claim when my car was at the dealership for the 7th attempt repair. He gave orders to stop all repairs on the car because of the bbb claim. I am now in the middle of Honda mediation and bbb. I may be offered trade assistance from the manufacturer or value price from manufacturer via bbb. The car is unfixable and deemed a "lemon". I can not sell this car privately in good conscience. I hope Acura can admit it is a lemom and put me into a new vehicle --it's to their advantage.
