Engine Exhaust System Problems of Acura TL

My 1998 Acura 2. 5 Tl has had noticeable exhaust leak into the passenger compartment from about 100,000 miles point, since January 2008l about one year ago. All the outside smells come right in even though I always have vents and air cond or heater set to "inside air only" setting. Along with exhaust I smell the catalytic converter odor, refinery odor when I drive past refinery, skunk smell when I drive over even a spot where a skunk was removed a few days ago, etc and also the check engine light came on a year ago, as many other owners have reported, I had it diagnosed as failed oxygen sensor but it seems that goes with the cracked engine manifold. This widely reported condition should be a mfgr recall notice. There is no excuse for the failure to recall over this persistent defect. Owners now know that it was the very same problem in 1996 and 1997 where it was a recall notice item; it should be for 1998 as well. I have been the most loyal of Acura owners (this is our fourth Acura as a family) but I and my husband will no longer tolerate such dishonesty in Acura CO.

Burning smell emanating from exhaust area into cabin at 9800 miles. Terrible - can smell it on the outside from 25 feet away. The stench inside the back seat of the cabin is enough to make you gag. Car is only 100 miles overdue for an oil change (3100 miles) running manufacturer recommended oil weight. Car has had trouble since I bought it - but mostly external until now (peeling paint).

I have an Acura Tl 2003 VIN 19uua5654xa007716. Ever since I bought this car (new, purchased on Nov 7, 1998) on several times its 'check engine' indicator light comes on and goes off without any repair or any change. Acura had a recall on egr system clogging. But in my car this indicator light still comes on and then goes off without any indication of a problem. I took my car to service center they told me that catalytic converter was bad, before I could get it fixed the indicator light went off. But in few days "check engine" light came back again. This indicator light off-on cycle still going on, it goes off for weeks and comes back on for weeks. I can't seem to figure out this erratic behavior of such an important safety indicator.

Was driving down the road at 65 mph and out of no where the cars transmission down shifted into first gear. My car hopped and kicked me threw two lanes of traffic. I managed to get the car to the side of the road but I could have been seriously hurt. This is the second time the transmission and other components had to be changed in this vehicle and this time I could have killed my self or others. Dt.

Engine check light is on for the 3rd time. Acura of memphis, TN has serviced the vehicle for this complaint. Lujacks auto plaxa in davenport, IA has serviced this vehicle for this complaint. I have been told by Acura dealers service dept that it is ok for me to drive the vehicle because the problem with the engine check light being on is due to clogged emission sensors. I am quite afraid to drive the vehicle with the check engine indicator light in. I am currently scheduled to take the vehicle in for the 3rd service for this complaint to Acura of lisle, illinois what are my options should this engine light come on for the 4th time. I certainly am not able to sell this vehicle at this time with the check engine light on and nee to know what my options are?.
