Tamara airbags. My car has both airbag lights on and there is no recall on it at all and it has not been in an accident at all. I received a warranty extension but with conditions. Conditions were if it's not the particular fault they will charge me $200 just for a scan. And then some more to actually fix the issue. I do not want to take it in due to that issue. I don't have $200 to give up like that.
Was having a series of electrical problems and codes pop up and my vehicle. Including the airbag light aluminate. I popped the trunk to find the battery terminal melted. I took my car into the mechanic and they informed me that there was a recall on battery terminals. In may 2015 after learning that my car has a recall on the airbags I took it to BMW of buena park, CA. They refused to replace the airbags (by then only the one from one side) because the airbag light was on. They wanted me to pay $180 to diagnose the airbag light before proceeding with the recall repair. I spoke to a manager and asked him why the charge if it was (at least to me) obvious that the light came on because of the faulty airbags. He insisted that I had to pay for the diagnose and refused to fix the airbag. Now I realize that the airbags from both sides are being recalled. I contacted BMW again and they are still refusing to replace the airbags without first diagnosing the airbag light. I told them that this airbag light appears to be an issue with their vehicles. . BMW 2006 325i taken to mechanic due to passenger occupancy seat mat sensor failure associated with recall of same model year BMW. Airbag light illuminated on dash and airbag off light sensor illuminated even when passenger seat was occupied. Manufacturer was notified, but said the VIN did not fall within the range of the recall. Did not authorize repair on the vehicle due to $700 estimated repair cost. I took my car in for a standard oil change and front driver side light turning signal not working and I also advised the airbag light would come on when I turned on the car for the past few months. I was advised that the airg bag for the passenger side had to be replaced which would cost me more than 800 dollars. I questoned if it was part of the most recent recall but was advised no. Seeing all the complaints on this site of the same vehicle and issue and not being included, this does not make sense. Please advise how cars are picked as it seems the cars that were not notified are the ones that are having the exact or similar issue of what the recall is for. I recently moved as well so I'm wondering what happens if the letter if there was one was sent to the incorrect place.
