Failure Date: 12/08/2019

I was driving and my side air bag and door air bag on the driver side deployed with no cause for this to happen. I pulled over. Nothing at that time was smoking or wrong with the vehicle. I drove the vehicle further down the road for about ten minutes to get closer to my boyfriend's house. I stopped in a lot to call him. Put the car in park and turned the engine off and the front end on the right side started to smoke. I got out of the vehicle and the front end slowly bursted into flames.

6 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2004 BMW 325

Failure Date: 12/09/2016

Takayuki recall a few years back, I received a recall notice for the passenger side airbag. (potentially lethal consequences if deployed). Last year, I received another recall, this time for the driver's airbag. I responded immediately and was placated with the promise of replacement. It has been eighteen months now and the dealer asks me to be patient. I recently found that it may take until 2020!!! for any replacement!!! I ask, simply would any prudent person drive my vehicle? living with the threat of death for four more years? what am I to do? I want a safe replacement at BMW's expense until my vehicle can be repaired. Yes my vehicle is 12 years old ( 60,000 miles) and yes I live in what considered a "humid" environment! help!.

7 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2004 BMW 325

Failure Date: 08/29/2016

"takata recall" I received notice of the recall by mail on 8/24/16 stating that I needed the driver and passenger side airbags replaced. I then proceeded to make an appointment on August 29th with global imports BMW located at 500 interstate n pkwy, atlanta, GA 30339. The service representative informed me that the parts were not in stock and would need to be ordered. However the recall notice did state that the parts were in stock and ready to be installed. I waited 2 weeks and never received a follow up phone call on the status of the air bags. I then called global BMW again, and they had no record of me calling, and claimed that they needed to order the airbags. This same exact issue re-occurred on my follow up phone calls on September 12th and 23rd. Then finally on October 3rd I placed another follow up phone call where once again they did not have my information, but did have a driver side airbag in stock. The customer service representative informed me that she would be checking on the status of the passenger air bag and give me a call. I called back the next day to check, and was told that they were not sure when they could obtain a passenger airbag. Over a month of phone calls and still nothing done. I am less than pleased and very concerned for the safety of me and my family while driving our vehicle. It has become obvious that BMW doesn't care about fixing the issue.

I had to leave my car overnight because they had to wait for the passenger bags from another BMW center. I will now be driving with a defective driver's airbag until parts are received.

10 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2004 BMW 325

Failure Date: 06/24/2016

Vehicle defects reported or recalled, BMW, oem, or other, yet with known defects was requested to drive an unsafe vehicle that is 'imminent danger' that can cause serious injury or death: airbags. BMW replaced driver side airbag in 9/ 2014 then passenger side. Yet in 2015 accident, the airbags failed to detonate, and injury to persons/property occurred. BMW recalled driver's side airbag (2nd repair/3rd airbag) in 2015 and parts are on back order. BMW has the 'defective vehicle' (I. E. Other issues engine, seat belts, etc. Remain) and provided a BMW loaner car through their affiliated partner (Toyota's jv alliance) enterprise in good faith pending repair. In June 2016, a 'cease & desist' was placed on the BMW, in part, due to a federal investigation or injury (I. E. Defective airbag- explosive device~shooting shrapnel) that leaves 'driver in harm's way'. One could infer 'attempted murder' if the driver is placed behind the wheel of a defective vehicle or airbag: millions of recalls. I am a material witness and am reporting intimidation, threats, hostility, and bullying over the BMW or defective airbags. This has resulted in professional defamation, personal injury, financial distress, and sabotage in various instances (to be reported in separate package to be sent to investigator due to confidentiality). The most recent occurred around June 23, 2016 when BMW/enterprise rental car stating "grand theft" of the vehicle in their possession or awaiting a swap? simple fact that BMW stated that an 'interim fix' was approved by dots but needed signed consent forms-- was sending them to me. BMW did not follow procedures, 'unauthorized entry, removal, destruction' of airbag with a 'cease & desist¿. On 6/24/16 going to enterprise/alamo-orlando was no issue/no unpaid bill. This did not stop continuation of harassment or retaliation (e. G. Asef) unconstitutional or uncivil conduct.

11 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2002 BMW 325

Failure Date: 05/02/2016

2002 BMW 325i. Consumer writes in regards to no replacement parts available to repair driver side airbag recall notice.

12 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2003 BMW 325

Failure Date: 04/22/2016

Takata recall. . . . I am driving in an unsafe vehicle due to drivers airbag recall and no parts are available to fix the problem. This is not a good feeling. I worry each time I get in my car and drive. The local dealership said no parts and no loaner vehicles. So I drive and worry. Someone pulled out in front of me on 4-22-16 and I barely missed their car and thought how awful this could have turned out, if I had hit them, t-boning them, my airbag would have opened and injured me and/or killed me. I get home and called the dealership because I never heard from them since last July's first recall when they told me I would get a notification when parts where available. Still no parts, I don't want to drive my car. I am a victim of "worry". The dealership service rep. Was not very concerned nor helpful. She must be not driving a car with a "driver's side airbag that is defective" and unsafe.

13 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2004 BMW 325

Failure Date: 04/05/2016

Takata recall - in July 2015, I had the passenger side airbag replaced per the BMW recall, however, I was also notified that the driver side airbag was to be replaced but parts were not available. My car has been located in sw florda for over 9 yrs and after repeated calls to my sarasota dealer, still have not been notied that parts are available. My last contact with the dealer during March 2016, I was advised that the repair is still not available.

14 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2005 BMW 325

Failure Date: 02/02/2016

Please remove this vehicle from the recall list for takata air bag replacement. . I had the driver's side air bag replaced in 2016, at the BMW dealership in wilmington, nc. I have no idea why the replacement wasn't reported, but that dealership did have an ownership change after my replacement. I continue to receive dozens of notifications for this recall, that has already been completed. I've contacted BMW at least 3 times, but somehow I'm still on this list. Please remove my vehicle from the recall list immediately.

15 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2003 BMW 325

Failure Date: 01/12/2016

Takata recall - 15v318 it has been just over 7 months since I received the recall notice from BMW for the drivers-side airbag recall. I have been on a waiting list since it came out, but there are still no available parts. There also is no interim remedy. At this point, I feel the vehicle is undrivable due to the possibility of metal fragments coming through the driver's airbag. This has caused a lot of issues with my household, and is causing un-due wear on my other vehicle, as well as costing much more money for things like fuel and maintenance. I am having to drive hundreds of extra miles every week, along with having to jump through numerous scheduling hoops. I asked about any kind of a loaner/rental car provided via BMW, and I was told no, there is no such thing. After 7 months, there needs to be some kind of resolution, even if it is a temporary one (are there temporary airbags of some sort? something that makes the car safe again, at least until the permanent parts come in?). Even with all of the issues, I still feel I am one of the "lucky few" with this recall that has a second vehicle. I can not imagine how things would work out if the only car I had could send shrapnel at me in the even of an accident. Something needs to happen. Even if it's temporary. 7 months of no progress is far too long, even in a recall of this scale.

16 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2002 BMW 325

Failure Date: 12/24/2015

Takata recall. My complaint concerns the delay in parts availability to fix driver's side airbag. This is taking way to long and am worried as to possibility of injury, or worse, if involve in an accident. In my opinion "lack of parts" is taking way too long . Nothing has happened yet.

17 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2004 BMW 325

Failure Date: 11/07/2015

Takata recall: I am currently in communication with state farm agent, terry wood [(434) 872-2813]. She has assured me that an investigation is underway at this time. We are stating that my BMW¿s side airbags suddenly deployed and unexpectedly causing me to lose power steering and braking ability. As I approached and entered a right turn lane in an street intersection located in stockton, California, my passenger side airbags suddenly deployed. Startled, I tried to pull over to the side of the road, but, with the loss of power steering, I was not able to safely control the vehicle. After making contact with the curb, I had to use all my strength to correct from it and try to make the upcoming right turn, but without power steering, I was not able to make the turn sharp enough leading me to make a wide turn into the oncoming lane. And without the ability to brake properly and safely, there was no way to avoid the impact. Additionally, the main area of the car with all the damage (driver¿s front) failed to deploy the appropriate airbag. Terry wood is my point of contact with this investigation. We hope to have BMW take some (if not, all) blame in the incident due to faulty airbags and/or unexpected deployment of airbags.

18 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2004 BMW 325

Failure Date: 07/30/2015

19 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2005 BMW 325

Failure Date: 07/27/2015

It took over a year to get parts for the passenger side air bag, just got the car back and received notice of a recall of the drivers side air bag and no date for repair, I can not sell the car or trade it in because of the defect. BMW refuses to provide compensation. I have been given the run around by the manufacturer regarding a loaner car or a replacement. I want BMW to purchase the vehicle immediately so I can obtain a safe vehicle to drive.

20 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2004 BMW 325

Failure Date: 07/02/2015

Takata recall: dealer keeps saying they are "working" on getting a replacement for my driver side air bag. I think I am getting a "run around" because my auto is a 2004 model. Please help me get this replaced.

21 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2005 BMW 325

Failure Date: 07/01/2015

I received a written recall notice from BMW of north America, llc, in July 2015 about the driver's side airbag defect that could result in "metal fragments striking the front driver . . . [and] potentially resulting in serious injury or death" if the airbag was deployed. I asked the dealer to remove the faulty airbag, leaving me with lap and shoulder restraint, and install the correct airbag module when it was received. I was told that, by law, air bags could not be removed and that they would not do so. I feel that my request was valid under the circumstances, would not be a violation of the law under those circumstances, and was a reasonable accommodation since, as of October 14, 2015, there is evidence that new bags will be received in the near future. The dealer's position results in my having to drive a vehicle that could kill me in a collision at no more than 25 mph, the speed I was told would cause any airbag in that car to deploy. There has been no agreement by the dealer or BMW USA to provide, at no cost to me, another vehicle for my normal and customary use. More than enough time has passed to remedy this problem since, even prior to the official written recall notice, BMW knew that specific part to be defective and not susceptible to shop repair. This position is supported by the fact that an earlier recall was issued for the passenger side airbag and relatively quick replacement was made. I am now going on three months with no assurance that a remedy will be provided in the foreseeable future, and BMW's admission that use of the defective automobile exposes me to serious injury or death.

22 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2002 BMW 325

Failure Date: 07/01/2015

I was notified of recall campaign 15v-318 in July 2015. Driver side air bag needs to be replaced due to possible serious injury or death if inflated on impact. I have called the local dealership. Inskip BMW on numerous occasions and they say that they have not received the replacement part. If it is this dangerous, why is it taking so long?.

23 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2003 BMW 325

Failure Date: 07/01/2015

I have received two separate recalls for airbag replacements on my car. The first was the passenger airbag and that recall was received in 2014. It took several months before I was able to have my front passenger airbag replaced. In July this year I have received a recall saying that I now need to replace the driver side airbag which describes the same risk: ". . . Resulting in metal fragments striking the front driver or other passengers potentially resulting in serious injury or death. " if BMW has created a car that could potentially result in my injury or death, should it not be reasonable for the problem to be fixed immediately? should it not be reasonable that I am given a loaner BMW at their expense (including insurance) while they fix this potentially life threatening problem with my car? why two separate recalls? why did they not fix both airbags at the same time? why does it take months to address this problem? how many potentially preventable serious injuries or deaths have occurred as a result?.

24 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2003 BMW 325

Failure Date: 07/01/2015

Ive called a couple times and they say they do not have the part in stock. Can't anything be done?.

27 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2003 BMW 325

Failure Date: 05/17/2015

I received a recall notice in 2015 for replacement of driver side air bag. As of this date 10/15/16 BMW has not yet notified me of when they will notify me that I can bring my car to dealer to have drive side air bag replaced. Calls to BMW in in June 2016 said to wait until July, calls in July said to wait until August, calls in August said perhaps by October or end of 2016. . . Calls to the BMW dealer I use vary -one time they say make an appointment to bring the car in,next call they say that they have no airbags. . . My question(s) to the NHTSA is "will BMW ever replace the airbag" and is dependent on whether I use a BMW dealership for maintaining my BMW. ???. . . I would also like to note that some colleagues with other types have cars have been not to drive their car until the air bag is replaced and some dealers have actually provided a rental car for them until air bag is replaced. . . . Also my wife has a 2013 Acura rdx, and while I believe that year was not affected by the airbag recall, her Acura dealership actually replaced her driver side air bag after just a few month wait. . . . I have been waiting for almost 17 months for BMW ro notify me that I can bring my car in for air bags. . . . And I do not quite understand why the BMW dealership keeps changing their story on the availabiltiy of replacement air bags your help and attention to this matter is greatly appreciated.

28 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2002 BMW 325

Failure Date: 05/01/2015

Takata recall of front drivers side air bags. I received notice of recall over a year ago. I am still being told by BMW that the part needed to repair the vehicle is unavailable. . It is unacceptable and wrong to wait well over a year to have a recall repair! and I'm still waiting. I just spoke to the BMW dealership and was told again that there are no parts for the repair. I'd like to get this taken care of so please do something about it.
