36 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 1995 BMW 325

Failure Date: 09/01/2014

Recall campaign no 14v-428 I received a recall letter from BMW in sept 2014 regarding front passenger side airbag. I have contacted my local BMW dealer a dozen times in the past 5 months but they keep telling me that the part is not available. They supposedly put me on a waiting list 3 months ago. However, they cannot tell me where I stand on the waiting list and for how much longer it may take.

37 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2005 BMW 325

Failure Date: 08/21/2014

I am writing you to tell you that I have a vehicle affected by the air bag recall - twice I have scheduled for replacement, twice the dealership has called me on the morning of the appointment to say the parts are not in stock. They are not apologetic, nor concerned for the urgency of this situation. I travel a very difficult route into the city - during rush hour - and have asked them to at least disconnect the bag for the passenger side. They refuse to do so. This evening the news reported that even drivers side airbags are being recalled. Why is this taking so long? do deaths and injuries have to top the hundred mark for car manufacturers and their representatives to get into high gear over this? the occasional news report just isn;t doing it -car dealers and manufacturers are responding in a very slow and seemingly unconcerned fashion. At least my BMW dealer is. Some help would be deeply appreciated.

The red passenger-side air bag and seat belt lights come on and stay on, whether or not anyone is sitting in the passenger seat. My 2003 BMW 325i sedan was t-boned on drivers side doors, and sent across the intersection and smashed into utility pole on rear passenger side with enough force to bend the frame. No side or curtain air bags deployed. Other driver ran a red light at about 40 mph and never hit the brakes. My head slammed to the top of the driver's door where an air bag should have been, causing swelling and numbness to this day. The door slammed into my entire left side where the air bag in the door should have been. I was wearing a seat belt. The car is totaled. BMW is sending an engineer to examine the car in a few days.

52 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2003 BMW 325

Failure Date: 12/21/2010

I was driving my 2003 BMW 325xi when the driver side airbags deployed suddenly. I do not believe that I hit anything and I did not see any damage on the vehicle when I inspected the car after the deployment. BMW inspected the car and found some damage underneath the car and claimed that this damage caused the deployment. However, I am almost certain that this damage did not occur at the time of the deployment. BMW was not interested in further investigating my case and stuck with the conclusion that the minor damage found underneath the car caused the airbags to deploy.

53 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2006 BMW 325

Failure Date: 06/01/2010

My vehicle has the exact same problem that BMW recalled in the NHTSA campaign# 08v384000. The problem is with my front passenger airbag seat mat has cracked. This defect has already been verified by an authorized BMW dealer at my own cost. But for some reason, my vehicle in not one of the 200,000 vehicles in the official recall. So BMW refuses to take care of the problem. I filed a complaint with BMW na but they will not cover this problem. This is a safety issue because my passenger side airbag is now disabled permanently because of this defect.

54 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2001 BMW 325

Failure Date: 04/15/2010

Drove over a small pothole on a street, and the side and curtain airbags prematurely deployed on the passenger side. I had to order a new side airbag. I am still unable to order a curtain airbag. This is a big safety concern, as the airbags could have injured my passenger. The car has no body damage, and drives perfectly. I have a airbag signal on the dash.

The contact owns a 2001 BMW 325i. While driving approximately 65 mph on the freeway, the side curtain airbag on the passenger side suddenly deployed. The failure caused the engine to shut off in the middle of traffic. There was no impact or crash to trigger the airbag deployment. The dealer advised him to bring the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnosis at the contact's expense. He refused to pay for something that may have been a manufacturer defect. Through online research, the contact found numerous complaints that were identical to his failure and type of vehicle. The current and failure mileages were 63,000.

58 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2002 BMW 325

Failure Date: 12/21/2006

On 12/21/06, I was driving on a two-lane road when another driver lost control of his truck, his backend slid off the road and when the back tires gained traction, it shot his truck across his lane and into the side of my car with the front of his truck. His truck ended up damaging my car down the entire driver side (front to rear). My side impact air bags never deployed. My side mirror came through my window and struck me in the arm with glass impacting my left ear, eye and cheek as well as my mouth. The collision center cannot explain why the air bag never deployed. The car is still at the collision center with $10,000 worth of damage.

59 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2003 BMW 325

Failure Date: 01/14/2006

61 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2003 BMW 325

Failure Date: 04/07/2005

Dt: the contact owns BMW and while driving down the highway both driver side air bags deploy and there was not an accident. The two air bags that deployed was one of the side above the window and the one at the arm rest. He contacted BMW and they want him to sign a statement pretty much telling him to keep his mouth shut and not to report the deployment or his injuries to anyone. If he signs the statement they told him they would give him a replacement car. The deployment of the air bag caused injury to the driver of the vehicle and he says this is a safety problem that he wanted to report.

62 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2003 BMW 325

Failure Date: 09/29/2004

While driving 30 mph over an bump in the road passenger's side air bag deployed inadvertently. No injuries reported.

63 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2002 BMW 325

Failure Date: 09/17/2004

Inadvertent deployment of my driver side airbags. I was driving on highway at approximately 50 mph (due to rain) and my airbags deployed. I was able to safely pull over to side of road. Tire was blown out and there was some damage to bottom of car from debris, but it is unclear if blowout and debris damage happened before or after airbag deployment. Either way, there was no impact with any object that should have caused this deployment. My car has not been driven for nearly 4 weeks now and it should have only needed a tire replacement. Any other damages could have been fixed in my own time, but car is not drivable b/c of airbag deployment and repair costs are very high.

64 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2001 BMW 325

Failure Date: 04/01/2004

After hitting a pot hole the passenger door air bag and passenger window air bag deployed, we are now left with the expense of replacing them on a leased car? or at the least paying the deductible on our insurance?.

65 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2004 BMW 325

Failure Date: 12/01/2003

Takata recall first the passenger side airbag was recalled, after waiting over one year, it was removed and replaced. Now the driver's airbag has been recalled. We responded immediately. We have been waiting for over two years! no contact, no replacement. We continue to live in peril of the lethal deployment of the defective airbag and BMW just says wait?.

66 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2001 BMW 325

Failure Date: 05/22/2003

Side-airbags deployed unecessarily causing arm injury (bruise, abrasion/bleeding, elbow/neck/wrist ache). I ran over a bump on the road with no accident or impact. San antonio, texas service advisor has confirmed no damage seen to justify deployment.

67 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2001 BMW 325

Failure Date: 05/10/2003

While driving 60 mph the driver door side air bag unexpectedly deployed. The consume r noticed the passenger side tires had a small orange size bubble in each tire. (the consumer didn't hit anything and there was nothing in the road) as a result of the unexpected air bag deployment, the consumer suffered hearing loss.

68 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2001 BMW 325

Failure Date: 05/10/2003

Driver side air bag and the window air bag deployed without cause.

69 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2001 BMW 325

Failure Date: 09/15/2002

Passenger side deployed while no pasenger was riding. Smart intelligence airbag failed to function. Relate to a previous complaint, air bag deployed while driving on highway 30mph,. Causing driver lose control of vehicle, no additonal passenger. Note: airbag should not deploy on the passenger side if no one is riding. The intelligence airbag system only activates airbag when there is a person sitting there--clearly a defect, unlike BMW's pervoius claim that there is no problem, or previous recalls.

70 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2001 BMW 325

Failure Date: 09/15/2002

On September 15th, 8:20pm est my passenger side air bag deployed without getting involved in an accident. I have a 325 ci, production date August 1st, 2000. I was going off an exit ramp when the car ran over the "cat eye" stone dividers on the road (those stone dots, about . 5 inch height). My right side air bag deployed at the same time the emergency light went off and the car shut off by itself. I was in a ramp so this incidence caused me to lose the power in a term. My power break stopped working and I had to pull the hand break to stop the car. My lawyers have suggested me to contact Bmwna first to address this issue. But I have found a recall on 323/328 cars for the exact same problem. I am glad no body was hurt in this incidence. The car has no dent on door or any body damage beside the tire and the rims were chipped/dented due to the result that I had to pull over so fast onto the club to avoid on coming traffic. I am addressing this concern because I hope your company will start investigate this problem to avoid any future accidents.
