Battery Problems of BMW 325

The contact owns a 2006 BMW 325i. The contact was driving with the cruise control activated at 76 mph. An abnormal noise was heard from the vehicle as the electrical components failed and the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who advised that the battery safety terminal failed. The dealer was unable to provide a cause for the failure. The manufacturer was notified who advised that they would send a representative to further inspect the vehicle. The contact was awaiting further diagnosis of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000.

BMW doors will not open when locked if electrical power is lost. In case of accident, BMW has an explosive device that separates the battery from the electrical system. Once power is lost, the door handles will not operate to open locked doors and the electrical windows will not work trapping passengers inside. I discovered this when a fuse, #52 on a 2006 325i, blew and the door would not open. Luckily one door was unlocked in the back and my daughter had to climb into the back seat to get out. Advise from dealership was to carry a device in the car the break out the window in case of accident.

Multiple intermittent problems with door locks failing to open either by key fob, depressing button inside car, or by pulling inside door handle. To exit car, must lower windows and insert key into outside keyhole. This is a serious hazard! problem arises with no apparent cause, then will disappear a few days later with for no apparent reason. BMW replaced actuator (?) and the problem appears to have disappeared, but it cost me $1400. Other electrical problem is with air bag warning light coming on after car sits undriven for more than a couple of days. Was told that air bags will not work with light on. No reason found. Battery checks out fully charged.

When vehicle had only 33 miles every single dummy light came on the car jumped forward and died out. It had been to several dealerships in different states , and they said it was always something different. While going 65 mph all the lights came on and vehicle stopped. The last time this happened the battery was replaced, and it happened again, and vehicle almost hit someone.

The driver had taken the vehicle to the dealership for routine maintenance and the vehicle stalled at the dealer. The driver tried to restart vehicle, but was unable to do so. The mechanic placed the vehicle on the diagnostic machine and the codes registered on the machine. The mechanic determined that the transmission and the battery needed to be replaced.
