1 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2013 BMW X5

Failure Date: 12/23/2020

I have to add coolant, I have checked with dealer and said pressure tank is leaking, replace the tank , still problem is there, I told them when I turn on heat, my eyes are burning too, they ask me to replace the tank, so I did, coolant still leak, so diagnosis is not wright. Eyes burning was happening since long time, but I notice in December, I was going to eye doctor,.

2 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2009 BMW X5

Failure Date: 07/12/2020

Car began to overheat while driving on highway, exited highway to city street, then the alert for low coolant came on. Immediately found a place to park to keep engine from being compromised. Allowed to cool, opened reservoir and coolant was low. Added one gallon of approved coolant. Drove for 5 miles. Car sat for several hours. Started car, alert came back on. Checked beneath vehicle, all of the coolant leaked onto the ground.

3 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2011 BMW X5

Failure Date: 10/23/2019

The car is putting out white smoke. It seems as though oil is entering the combustion chamber and burning out of the exhaust. The oil is either burning or leaking into the fuel system. There is a significant decrease in fuel consumption and the acceleration is affected. As I was driving there was a warning that the engine has gotten too hot to drive and to pull over immediately and I had it towed to a garage. There were no temperature warning lights or coolant warning lights and coolant level was fine. BMW does not have a temperature gauge to know if your car is getting hot. Stupid design.

4 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2007 BMW X5

Failure Date: 06/10/2019

My vehicle has the commonly and popularly known weep hole coolant leak. Apparently, BMW has had this problem in previous year model cars, dating back to 2002. They have known that this was a flaw in their design. However, there has been no recalls on the repair of this issue, which costs owners thousands of dollars for labor alone for a rather inexpensive part. It would only be fair for BMW to issue a recall on this commonly known issue that seems to affect hundreds of owners of Bmws with the same engines. The coolant leaks on the front side of the engine through a random hole around the engine. It is a rather costly fix due to several components needing to be removed before one can get to the broken part to be replaced. It is unfair for current owners to have to pay significantly for a car that has a major design flaw. Very unhappy with this current unfortunate discovery. My car suddenly leaked all the coolant out of the car and into the road and my driveway. Thankfully I was almost home when it broke down. I could have been in the freeway or on the street and it would have been a risk of getting hit by other cars if my car just suddenly stalled. And I was driving with baby on board! I suggest this be investigated, as it's an issue that's apparently very common in the n62 engines.

Critical failure/ crack of the coolant reserve tank. No prior indication of leak. Tank split open and lost all coolant when parked. Searched online and see a large number of people have reported same problem. Potential for engine damage significant. Non dealer cost to replace $400 and read other have had dealer replacement cost $800.

7 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2003 BMW X5

Failure Date: 11/18/2014

I purchased the vehicle used, I have had it for about 5 months and have had some serious problems (steering column, window regulators, engine, and coolant leakage). I see where these issues seem to be consistent with the vehicle, but am having a hard time getting the recall work done. I can's afford to spend a lot on this car, but I feel like I may have more than I bargained for. My extended warranty is not paying for much !!! help.

8 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2004 BMW X5

Failure Date: 04/01/2014

My X5 has been a fairly reliable vehicle with some quirkiness along the way. I had a "crossover pipe" to start leaking coolant. The thing to look for is if you open your hood, and look in the center of the engine (from the front), there is a small hole. Coolant will collect and pour out of that hole onto the ground. The fix through BMW is anywhere from $9000-$10,000. 00; if you are going to allow BMW to replace the part and labor charges with ome parts. What happens is over time the seals go back in this part, and the only way to get to it is to open your entire engine, to replace the pipe. I went to a local car shop that specializes in foreign vehicle repair named kelly moss motor sports near madison wisconsin, and they were able to do this job for under $3000. 00. They did fantastic work, and my vehicle has not leaked since! this part will eventually go bad, especially if you live in a climate with constant hot temps or extreme weather that goes from hot to cold (both destroy the rubber gaskets in this pipe). I am attaching a link for those who want to see what the pipe looks like. . Read more...

9 Coolant Leaking problem of the 2001 BMW X5

Failure Date: 08/21/2007

BMW X5 3. 0l 2001 1) car lost power on the freeway requiring an emergency stop. Very dangerous situation but no one was injured. 2) a hole in the plastic cooling system caused the coolant to eject. The engine overheated causing total loss of engine. There were no audible or visible warnings. Apparently this vehicle does not have a coolant sensor and the engine temperature gauge can malfunction if the coolant has all leaked out. 3) entire engine replacement at 63,000 miles (out of warranty). Car has had all BMW recommended maintenance service.
