1 Battery Dead problem of the 2008 Buick Lucerne

Failure Date: 01/10/2019

I receive a letter from gm stating that the rear seat brackets may contact the electrical system causing damage including fires and draining of the batter. The letter further gave a very narrow time frame as well as conditions where owners could get reimbursement or repair of the problem which prohibits myself other owners from being able to correct this design defect without incurring sizable repair bills. I have replaced my battery twice because of the draining issues. The vehicle can not stay dormant for more than 2 days before the battery dies. It is unconscionable as well as an unscrupulous business practice to not recall the affected vehicles and have the problem corrected at no costs to the owners. I am lucky that it is just a battery drain, in some cases there have been fires and engine stalls. This is a potential life-threatening problem that should be corrected by gm immediately.

2 Battery Dead problem of the 2011 Buick Lucerne

Failure Date: 03/28/2018

On March 28th, 2018 my vehicle a 2011 Buick Lucerne with 162,554 miles on it, would not restart after making a twenty-mile trip to take my grandchildren to school. I parked on the side of the road in front of my mother's house to visit, and upon my attempt to leave, the vehicle would not start. There were no warning indicators, strange noises, or smells that would lead me to believe the fuse box failure, leading to the box melting. When a battery goes bad, it smells like spoiled eggs, however in the case of my vehicles fuse box melting there was no toxic smell(s), that is a good thing since no passengers suffered from melting plastic fumes, I guess. I took my 2011 Buick Lucerne to the dealer's ship because my vehicle would not start. Upon the tech diagnoses the fuse relay had melted, and this was one reason the fuel pump was not receiving power to send fuel to the engine. My next concern is the placement of these components in the vehicle, they are located under the rear passenger seats. If the voltage, fuse box melts again soon, the possibility of an internal fire is highly possible and thus the loss of lives is likely. After conducting my own online search, this is a problem that has been overlooked in the past or minimized in order of importance for the consumers safety concerns reported at various dealerships. 3 Battery Dead problem of the 2007 Buick Lucerne

Failure Date: 07/12/2008

I parked my 2007 Lucerne for 17 days while on vacation. When I returned, the battery was dead. There was nothing plugged into the car like a phone charger or anything else. After charging the battery, I took it to local dealer who kept it for over two weeks, performed a parasitic draw test, and basically found nothing except a 201ma current draw over 7 days. The battery and charging systems checked ok. They couldn't tell me when or for how long that 201ma draw lasted or what caused it. They claimed that since they could not duplicate the problem, they can't fix it since it's "within specs" at this time. I brought car home and let it sit untouched/undriven for 3 more weeks to try to duplicate it being parked on my vacation, and there was no battery discharge problem. However, I feel I can't trust the car to be parked, unused, for any length of time (more than 2 weeks) for fear the battery will discharge again.
