My steering failed and started pulling left into traffic. It was hard to keep it in my lane. Had to have it towed by aaa. Took to my mechanic and he said it was the electric belt drive rack &pinion steering. He told me there was a recall on it. When I checked I was told that my VIN # was not included. I think it should have been because its the same problem. It is not safe to drive.

When I turn the car off the key will not allow me to remove it from ignition to the proper position to remove the key. This is a safety hazzard. I have to mess with the brakes, steering wheel and parking console and keep starting and turning off the car to get key removed. The dealer said they could not locate the problem however several of your other gm vehicles are having this issue. Please assist. I am being stranded in the dark in the cold with a car I cannot leave the key in or someone could steal the car, the doors will not lock with key in ignition.

While driving down the highway at 60 mph with myself my husband and my 7 year old son my steering wheel locked up and then jolted very hard to the left. Got the car pulled to side of the road the power assist warning started flashing this all happened Saturday October 22, 2022. It had never happened before turned the car off and checked fluids they were filled to where they needed to be started the car it was just fine. This morning on October 24 2022 my husband headed to work driving 55 and again the steering wheel locked and power steering assist appeared. I have not gotten this checked but very scared to drive with my son in the car as this could cause a very bad accident and no other problems with the car. I called Buick October 25, 2022 they said this model did have a recall but my VIN number was not one included in the power steering assist recall.
Driving on the highway and abs, stabltrack and steering lights came on. This is the third time in 2 years that a wheel bearing failed on this vehicle. A magnet ring in the wheel bearing that sensors wheel speed failed and fractured causing a loss of power steering, abs, and traction control.
The contact owns a 2016 Buick Regal. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel seized while turning the vehicle. Additionally, the vehicle experienced a loss of motive power. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 16v108000 (steering) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 117,000.
The steering wheel locks up during turning making it difficult to control the vehicle during turn-this presented a major safety risk. The vehicle was taken to a Buick dealer service on two occasions. The dealer was not able to duplicate the issue. On the first occasion an error code of b101e was noted during diagnosis system check. (service write-up attached) the same issue represented and is currently being serviced, though technical noted he was unable to reproduce the problem. Mileage when problem first noted was 59,418.
I was driving and all of a sudden my power steering light came on telling me to drive with care. The wheel tightened up within seconds my abs lights on, no all wheel drive, stabilize for tracation went off. All safety equipment went hairwired. We looked up the part and found out that there was a recall on the steering power prior however everyone is telling us not for our car. I only had it for less than 3 years. The car was manufactured in sept of 2015 which was part of the recall but they said it wasn't the style car. I had to have it towed back home. This seems like a serious problem for this vehicle and gm should fix this problem before someone gets hurt or worse.
The car doesn’t stay on park still will move forward or backwards the gear shift locks and does not move when I turn it makes a huge clack sound.

Drive with care service power steering.
While exiting an interstate on a sharp curve failed to respond. No warning lights appeared. When applying brake steering began to respond. Contacted dealer service department charlie obaugh staunton virginia. Vehicle is not on recall list. Problem appears to be similar to 2016 steering recall. Dealership did not offer remedy for problem. This is definitely a safety issue losing steering while in motion. What options do we have.

I was driving down the city road and my car just shut off and lost all power to everything. I almost got hit. I then turned my car back on and the service stability trac light came on and the check engine light was flashing. I could nearly get it to go at all and my car was shaking and sputtering. It was the scariest thing I have ever dealt with. I had it put in the shop on 10/26/2018 and now it just happened to me again and its 03/26/2020.
Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Buick Regal. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle loss acceleration, steering became difficult to tuned. In another when turn off the engine, the vehicle failed to start. A warning light illuminated roll driver side window up, the trunk open and the windshield wiper independently start to function. The vehicle was towed to ed martin Buick GMC, 9896 n michigan rd, carmel, in 46032, and was diagnosed that the timing chain detached. The vehicle was not repair due to the repair fees. Five code also came up, p0131, p0016, p0017, p0014 and p0171. And leaving the dealer, the vehicle failed to start and was towed to an independent mechanic where the timing chain, balance chaff, chain kit, timing cover gasket set, cam cover gasket set and two camshaft sensors, were replaced. The while leaving the independent mechanic, the vehicle loss acceleration, heat blowing at the flow board an unknown odor entered the vehicle cabin coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic and was informed to take the vehicle to a Buick dealer. While on the way to the dealer, the park to drive gear was clunking and jerking from 3rd to 2nd and 4th to 3rd. The vehicle was taken seven times to the same dealer. The contact mention that she taken the vehicle to a transmission shop but was unable to determine a failure. On another occasion the vehicle loss acceleration and jerking in gears, heat entering the vehicle cabin and squealing. No check engine light illuminated and the battery cover was melted on one side. No indication on the overheat that level the temperature gage. The failure mileage was approximately 81,290. Aw.

The power steering has stopped working. I had to replace the battery on the car. After I replaced the battery, the power steering had stopped working. The vehicle was stationary.
At less than 90k miles my power steering abruptly without warning stopped working while I was driving the car. My automatic transmission will abruptly without warning stay stuck in a low gear while I am driving. I turn off the car and start it again and it's fine. My computer screen will go black and stay that way, which controls the radio, navigation, etc. , then it will begin working again after a few minutes, hours, days, just whenever it decides to start working. The screen has also had rapid moving lines of black and white. My left turn signal works, but yet it constantly has a rapid turn signal sound like it is going out or is out, yet even when I change the bulb it still makes the sound. The power steering I just fixed a month ago, all other issues are on going.
Engine and brakes seized up on me without warning while driving in a parking lot, low speed. Took it in to my mechanic and found out there was an oil consumption issue, even though I was 2k miles under the next change I was also 2 qts low.
Check engine light on. Code p0011 present. Indicating over-advanced camshaft position sensor. While performing a u-turn, the vehicle died/lost engine power and steering locked in place in the middle of the road. The vehicle was spread across three lanes, as I was in the middle of my u-turn, with oncoming traffic approaching. Luckily, I was able to start the car back up and regain control just as traffic neared my position. Almost deadly situation. Also noticing engine hesitation as well as shaking of the vehicle while idling.
I was driving doing almost 50 when it shut off with no warning the steering wheel locked up the brakes were not working. The first time this happened I just let the car coast to a stop, the second time was exactly the same except I put the car in neutral while I still had a good bit of speed and crunk it back up. The car always crank right back up with no problem and drives fine. I've change my fuses and certain lights (low tire, low coolant, check engine)on the dashboard won't go off and I just recently had my car inspected in which it passed.

The throttle body has a defect which shuts off all power to vehicle with no notice. The engine and transmission lock up you lose all steering control and no brakes. Also no lights so when it happens at night it is pitch black. Gm does know about the problem and when I questioned them about the loss of life like what happend with the chevy cruze all members of gm are told to hang up the phone. It has happend on several occasions and the dealership sent me back on the road knowing the problem. Dealer rep said if I was a better customer thay may have done more for me.
Vehicle has 69,579 miles. While turning onto side street off of main road, engine shut off causing loss of power steering and brakes. Vehicle was able to be restarted after a minute and driven home. Vehicle was taken to lester glenn Buick dealership for this problem . The dealership was "unable to duplicate the problem" and there were no codes showing a problem. I was told that the issue was that the vehicle was 100 miles overdue for and oil change and was a little low on oil. When I questioned this I was told it is a "safety feature" to protect the engine from damage because of low oil. I asked if it was a "safety feature" than why was my son able to restart the vehicle within a minute. Still have not received an answer. I have made numerous calls to g m about this issue but all I have gotten were two calls to my house phone when I was not home when I specifically left my cell phone number to be called. I have called an additional three times and left a message for a senior adjuster to call me back and still have not received a response. As luck would have it, I own two 2011 Buick Regals and my daughters car is experiencing the same issues, but that will be listed as another complaint . Appears to be multiple issues on the internet with this same concern, but nothing seems to get done.
Car has become very hard to turn, unless moving.

My 03 Buick Regal LS will shutoff sometimes when turning left, or when using the turn signal. I can not find the paperwork, but I remember a recall for this about 5 to 8 years ago. We did have it addressed, but the problem has come back. Today's date is 1/9/17 and my wife had this happen again to her on 1/4/17 while making a left hand curve. She was not turning or using her turn signal. I only had it happen to me once while making a left turn using my turn signal. My mother also has an 03 Regal GS and also experienced this same problem. I contacted the dealer where I purchased the car and they told me there is no current recall nor was there ever one for this problem, but I know we had it addressed about 5 to 8 years ago.

My daughter drives our 2011 Buick Regal cxl that we purchased in February 2016. In the last several month the vehicle has stalled, steering locks up, brakes go completely out, it doesn't have an electrical and because it has an electric emergency brake there is no way for her to stop. The first two times she was driving around town and the last time it happened was last week at 70 mph on the highway. She almost hit the car in front of her. Once it coasted to a stop she was able to start it and continue on. This gm vehicle 2011 Buick Regal is a death trap waiting to happen. Don't buy a Buick!!! I picked it up from the local Buick dealer yesterday and they can't do anything. Once the vehicle is restarted after one of these incidents the computers automatically resets and wiped clean of codes without any trace of a problem or issue. All the errors completely disappear. The service person at the dealership asked me if I had a decoder I could plug in right after it happens. This problem is all over the internet and Buick does nothing. You can bet that a gm executive would decline an offer for one of his/her family members to drive it for a while. Make no mistake these cars shut down completely without any warning and absolutely nothing works at the moment. No steering, no brakes, stalled engine, and no electrical. Absolutely nothing!!! all Buick says base on online comments is sorry. Sorry for what? killing people? not giving a damn about my family or yours? if they were sorry they'd step up and do the right thing before its too late and someone dies. Insurance companies are probably paying out lots of money to their insured and the people they hit, injure or kill. I bet they would love to hear more about this issue. Be carefully what you buy because you might be surprised by your car right before you crash. I've always likes gm and Buicks but not anymore.
The contact owns a 2001 Buick Regal. While driving 35 mph, the contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the front of the vehicle. The contact stated that the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. On several occasions, when the vehicle was placed in the park position, it was difficult to remove the key from the ignition. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 71,000.
"takata recall" very hard to steer and steering wheels locks up feels like the vehicle will not move when you need it. I am scared that as I am turning the steering wheel will lock also has a bad leak and the belt feels like it will pop. My vehicle was in motion driving down the street and at another time I was trying to park.
The contact owns a 2011 Buick Regal. While driving at an unknown speed, the engine lost power, stalled, and the steering seized without warning. The vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the camshaft failed. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle body failed. The vehicle was repaired and the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.
Vehicle interior lighting does not work in park, drive or when lights turned on, cluster, gear indicator, climate display, radio lighting does not work at all, when driving at night & windows fog up I have a hard time finding the temp. Buttons while seeing safely out windshield. My son pulled out cluster, noticed missing resistors are the cause. Driver side leather heated seat gets too hot when switched on, fear it could lead to fire. Rear strut snapped from rust/age. Son replaced both rear struts, noticed the strut to frame was rusting out where the welds have been made & was not supporting the vehicles weight properly. If these give out, the rear of the car will drop & loose control of vehicle, possibly puncturing the fuel tank causing leak/fire while steering while is parked or in motion, moving steering wheel 9 to 3 o'clock position is a very loud thud. Headlight combo switch has failed resulting of losing headlights, interior lights. Leaks oil, puddles of oil near plenum & top of motor. Its always leaked since owning it. Fuel leak inside of engine bay. My son has recently discovered a fuel leak once the motor is shut off. It appears it is the back fuel rail return line quick disconnect fitting that is leaking gas once the motor is shut off, realized the problem when I shut my car off, 5 mins later I started it & could smell gasoline from the heat vents. Shut it off. Opened hood, strong order of gas present. Removed plastic top engine cover & a very strong smell present. Traced the fuel lines & found gasoline dripping out of the rear fuel rail onto the motor. Son is replacing the o rings in the quick connect to correct the problem. After googling this is a common problem on w-bodys & has caused the vehicles to start a fire but has not been recalled. Can provide pictures taken of the leak if contacted.
Was driving my 1997 Buick Regal GS 3. 8 when I had my son in the car went to turn left and when in the turn all the lights start to flash and the car shut down . . Had to have it towed later to find out it is the ignition switch now car is sitting will not start all lights flash will not crank or turn over . . . Before all that happened when I would make a left turn you could hear a clicking coming from the drivers side tire and the lights would come on . . . Everything you touched on the steering wheel , turn signals , windshield wipers anything would make all cluster lights come on and shut down the car . Thank god knowone was injured or killed.
The car stalled today after reversing out of my parking spot and shifting into drive. This is the 3rd time in my 14 months of owning the car that this has happened. It only happens right after turning the car on. The steering goes out and the engine stalls, but the electronics remain on, it's a lot like what happens when you run out of fuel but my tank is full. The dealer cannot replicate the issue and will not do anything. They claim they've never heard of this issue before.
My ignition key wouldn't come to off position when I turn off the engine. Key wouldn't come out from the ignition cylinder and I had to leave the key in the car and manually lock the car. As a result it would drain the battery and the car is under a high risk of car being stolen and at the times the steering would get locked. Thank you.
