The airbag warning light appeared 45 days ago. I immediately took my 2017 Cadillac to the dealer (sewell Cadillac of houston). The vehicle is covered under a sewell extended warranty until 2028. The dealer performed troubleshooting and determined that the passenger seat sensors/module (part # 84567224 ) was defective. The inspector for the sewell extended warranty confirmed that the replacement was covered by the warranty. The dealer advised after 30 days (completing other services- brakes/rotors/front tires/spark plugs & wires etc) that the part # was “back-ordered” and sewell did not know when the part would be available, if ever. The consequence explained that the passenger seat which contains gm part # 84567224 should not be used as the airbag may not inflate. Now the dealer wants their “loaner car” back and for me to pick up my “unrepaired safety defective seat in my car”. Today’s date: December 20, 2025. The car was purchased new 11/2016 from the same sewell Cadillac dealer. I would expect that general motors be compelled to supply critical safety related equipment (part # 84567224) for a 8 year old car.

The contact owned a 2007 Cadillac Cts. The contact stated that while driving 40-43 mph, a bicyclist suddenly pulled in front of the vehicle. The contact veered away from the bicyclist, causing the vehicle to crash into a utility pole. The utility pole was damaged. The air bags failed to deploy, and the contact hit the chest and head against the steering wheel. The contact immediately went to the hospital and was provided medical assistance. The contact sustained contusions on the chest and on the head, and the contact sustained bruises on the left and right legs. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed and totaled by the insurance company. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure was approximately 71,000.

The airbag system failed to deploy during a single-vehicle accident in which the car left the service road and struck a tree. The vehicle sustained significant front-end damage. The driver lost consciousness or experienced disorientation and was unable to recall the events leading up to or immediately following the accident. The lack of airbag deployment increased the risk of serious injury, especially due to the vehicle impacting a tree and being lodged several feet off the road in the woods. Although there were no major injuries in this case, the airbag failure presented a serious safety risk and could have resulted in much worse outcomes. No, the airbag failure has not yet been confirmed or diagnosed by a dealership or independent service center. However, an insurance adjuster did state that based on the crash damage, the airbags should have deployed. The vehicle has not been inspected. No — there were no warning lights, messages, or symptoms indicating a problem with the airbag system prior to the crash. The vehicle appeared to be functioning normally before the incident.

Passenger sensing device for the passenger seat is failing intermittently. Service airbag light is coming on periodically, and, when it does, the passenger "airbag on" light fails to illuminate even if a passenger over 100 lbs is in the seat. This is a long recurring issue with all gm cars where the sensing pad goes bad.
The contact's relative owns a 2016 Cadillac Cts. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 40 mph, the passenger's side air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the front passenger's side air bag inflator needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a related recall and provided an estimate for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 49,790.

"service air bag" light is illuminated. Deal states the replacement part is out of production. Apparently, this is a relative common problem with this vehicle. The illumination of the warning light indicates the air bag system is not working.

I noticed that on the dash a message that service is needed on one of the airbags. I then scheduled appointment to have the problem corrected. I was informed by the dealership’ service department that I need a passenger airbag replacement on the passenger side of the car, and they also informed me that gm no longer manufactures the airbag that I need. I was not given any assistance on how to replace this safety feature in the car, nor was I notified by the manufacturer that airbag was discontinued.

Airbag warning light and service air bag on dash. Code b0087-00 left rear sis. Replaced sensor, still getting warning. Sensor is in lr door. Research revealed possible known issue with bending fatigue from routine door open/close motion and subpar wire size/material causing wire failure. Opened wire harness at pillar and green/black wire was completely separated at typical bending point. Light blue wire was not visibly broken (insulation still intact) but the wire within was broken upon removal of insulation. These are the two wires (light blue and green/black) to the impact sensor. Please investigate gm use of substandard or undersize wiring in entire srs system especially at bending fatigue potential failure points. Three pictures attached - one picture showing initial finding of green/black broken wire but light blue still visibly intact (insulation only), one picture showing same in close up, one picture showing both wires are not intact (light blue wire was inspected further and determined insulation intact but wire within was not intact) and insulated separated with fingernail pressure only. Wires should not fail within typical lifetime of a vehicle. Uncertain on operation of system, but could short between two wires and/or grounding cause airbag to deploy without accident/at random causing personal injury to occupants and/or an accident because of random deployment? date of incident is when wiring issue was discovered and pictures taken upon discovery.

Airbags did not deploy in a massive front end collision. That failure caused me physical injury which possibly would not have occurred had the airbags deployed. I don’t know how many 2008 Cadillac Cts are on the road at this time but feel it is an important enough matter that should be investígated. This was never recalled. Thank you, [xxx] , [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Well I am uncertain but we have two 2006 Cadillac Cts and both have had multiple transmissions replaced. Multiple differential problems and air bag and wireing problems.
My air bag light is on. I brought it to the dealer for repair. The dealer told me the airbag is unfixable due to the fact that the "passenger seat presence sensor is broken and no longer manufactured". I now have a car that is fully functional aside from this issue and it's unsafe to drive. The dealer also refused to buy the car back from me for fair market value.

The contact owns a 2011 Cadillac Cts. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine started to make an unusual sound and was inadvertently vibrating. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact stated that the failure is similar to the recall NHTSA campaign: 14v341000 (air bag, power train). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 165,000.
Airbag warning.
Diag: diagnosis c/s service air bag error message on display. Code dtc b0014- driver side air bag deployment loop- high resistance. Could not get repaired. Per dealership the part needed is "discontinued". Non- working airbags are a huge concern. I think that parts for airbags should have to be produced if a vehicle needs serviced for such a problem! the vehicle is in excellent condition overall and should last many more years but this very much needed part for safety isn't even available! that is not right!!! no accident or incident has occurred but this issue is very much a concern.
My airbag sensor on my passenger seat does not work. It cannot detect the passenger and therefore would not go off if there was an accident. I tried purchasing the item from gm by going to my local service location and was told the part is not made anymore and I cannot buy it. There is none made for my car online. I need a module to detect if a passenger is present not only for safety but to pass inspection in NJ. They offered no solution and simply told me after ten years they don’t have to make parts for a car. My problem with that is this car body style and parts is for years 2009-2014 so they should still make it for the 2014 and I could use that. During my research I have come across approximately 30 other Ctsv owners that have the same issue and it’s not just a part that can be replaced with an aftermarket one because there is none being made that fit these seats. Gm has an issue with lots of their cars including the Ctsv generation before mine and there is recalls for that one too. How can a company sell a 500hp car to someone and not make the parts for the car anymore which could result in a serious injury or death? I cannot inspect my car and could be ticketed in my state for not having an inspection. An airbag sensor not working or not detecting a passenger is a major concern and they will not address this issue. There’s forums dedicated to this issue. I even said it’s fine I would buy it if it’s not recalled and they simply said we don’t or won’t make them anymore. I don’t know what I’m suppose to do? not drive my car? I have tried everything and even purchasing a whole new seat and have not gotten anywhere. Part number#20903436.
The contact owns a 2007 Cadillac Cts. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the passenger's side air bag was deactivated while occupied by a passenger. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.
Air bags didn’t come out.
Service airbag light on dash is on. No one ever sits in the passenger front seat. The rear view mirror indicates that the passenger seat airbag is off. I dont know how to turn it on just to see if the rvm will indicate an on position. I took the car in for a diagnosis and it it indicated that the pps module needs replacement. ($1280. 79) even if I do find out how to turn it on I would be afraid to turn it on if it’s going to explode that’s my problem what should I do.
I am deaf and the “service air bag” and the symbol came on several times and I took it to a certified mechanic who spent two days checking. This is the what he said upon diagnosis, “ the part you need for the air bag light has been discontinued not available anymore. ” I met him in person and he said the same thing. This is a safety issue. Please help! thank you!.
The contact owns a 2012 Cadillac Cts. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle to the dealer for servicing, he was informed that the front passenger's side air bag had failed. The air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 126,273.
Recaro seat sensor failure, causing passenger air bag system inoperable for the passenger side, it appears this a very common problem, the dealer states that they have replaced a lot of these in the past, but gm no longer has any available, cannot find one anywhere in the country (USA), the safety concern is if involved in an accident the passenger is not protected, the dealer has confirmed this is the problem thru diagnostics, have contacted manufacture and they have confirmed no parts available for a repair, service air bag system message and air bag light on intermittently numerous time while driving, first appeared within approx. 2 days after purchased used on 03-17-2022.
The contact owns a 2011 Cadillac Cts. The contact stated while driving at approximately 30 mph that the entire vehicle would vibrate and the "service air bags" light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic where it was not diagnosed. The contact was advised by the mechanic that the failure could be related to NHTSA campaign number: 14v341000 (air bags). The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.
The air bag light comes on intermittently. It has been identified as a problem on several of the Cts and Cts-v forums.
Thank these things I feel cadilac should consider fixing due to milage before and after I purchased the cadilac due to the miles before and after purchase. Due to being 100% disabled since 2009, air bag & safety belt system light comes on when I have onstar diagnose the problem they said it has something to do with my seat belt system on passenger side which mind you isnt used often at all and cadilac will not help with the cost and was told by onstar it needs repairs ASAP because it could cause air bags to pop out while driving or not come out during a crash. Im afraid some times driving it. In the 7yrs of owning this I maybe put around 40,000 miles on the car its in good condition. Which lead me to the other problem due to miles. When I purchased the cadilac a few days later the check engine light came on it was the catalytic converter it was almost $800 it has two of them the dealer repaired it. Here the other day I had onstar do a complete system scan and the report showed the converter was in the process of going out again but just hasnt triggered my check engine lite. I was shocked because of the miles I drivewhich is under 6000 miles a yr and I use top grade fuel there isnt any way these converters should be going out they should have lasted for the rest of my life and the cars life I take very good care of it changing the oils on a regular bases and other cares are met but when talk to cadilac they didnt even consider my care and miles driven at all or find out why tne converter is needed twice since I owned the car when most cars never need converter replacement. Im 62 yrs old, these are concerns I have but mostly the treatment by cadilac (gm) the safety part being on passenger side that seat never hardly get used but could cause air bags to open while driving and two convertersin 6-7 years of ownership when most cars never need one and othhers just once. Which tells me theres a problem some where else causing it to not work properly, but it didnt matter.
The contact owns a 2006 Cadillac Cts. The contact stated that upon start of her vehicle, the airbag warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact called a local dealer who informed her that it could either be an electrical glitch or a defective airbag. The contact was informed to bring the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
"service air bag" light came on in 2021 after pss mat being replaced in 2011 recall #10355 rendering the entire air bag system ( both driver and passenger) inactive. Vehicle currently in dealership for repair for the second time for the same issue. Dealership reported both airbags inoperable while "service air bag" light is on creating a safety issue if vehicle is driven until repaired.
Air bag light is on saying the passenger side buckle tensioner not working when there never a accident on this car, fuel level low illuminates when there is fuel in the tank still, fuel level goes down fast after a short drive when fuel just been put in.

The seller lied about everything! the first question I asked was if the car was in an accident. He bragged about being a mechanic, and doing all the work on the car, so everything in the car is in, "tip top shape. " he replied, "no, never!" he did not allow us to ride the car on the interstate before the purchase, claiming it was illegal. 10 mins after leaving the car lot, the car cuts off and is unable to crank back up. The seller meets us and claims it the battery. A "new" battery was placed in the vehicle, but the problem persists. My fianc, who is not a mechanic, told him more than once, that the problem was not the battery, but the alternator. He got the car to crank. As we are riding down the interstate, the car cuts off, and we are left aimlessly rolling and are unable to control the wheel. Plus, the electricity in the car is off so we can't even turn on our hazard lights to caution the other cars on the road. After speaking to the seller, once again, he tells us there is nothing he can do about it and will not cancel the deal. We've only had the car for 4-5 hours. After speaking to several mechanics, they quickly confirm that the alternator is the problem and anybody that claims to be a mechanic can see the problem immediately. They also inform us the car has been wrecked and should have not been resold for safety measures. Driving this vehicle almost cost us our lives.
When taking turns my 2011 Cts Cadillac flashes that my air bag must be serviced. On the passenger seat.
On 12-2-19 at 730am eastern time, I was involved in a 55 mph side impact crash to the right side of the vehicle by a semi truck on interstate 475 north in toledo, ohio, mile marker 10, near holland, ohio. No side impact airbags deployed. Vehicle is in 100% excellent maintained condition. No fault codes. Vehicle structure maintained very well for a highway speed crash, however, I have a concussion from the side impact and no airbag deployment. Car was totalled by the semi truck insurance company that struck me.
I was driving along highway 70 downtown st louis when all the sudden all 4 ceiling/curtain airbags went off only, no other airbags deployed, just the ones stated. I pulled the vehicle off the highway. I was able to drive the vehicle back to my house where it remains. This incident happened on the evening of October 19, 2019. I just purchased this vehicle 3 weeks ago. The dealership is closed on sundays where I purchsed it. There is no body damage to the vehicle, like I said the airbags just went off for no reason.
I was involved in a crash that when hit the vehicle turned off and airbags did not work. I was hit twice on driver rear and passenger rear, spun out and no airbags deployed. I was crossing over a city road from a stop sign, was hit at 60 mph. I was doing 20 mph going straight across from the stop sign.
